Apr 04,2025I liked this shop. The selection was good. What I didn't like? That they made light of addiction and the struggles of sobriety. Referencing Bill Wilson, co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous and his reported final requests for whisky might have been intended as trivia, but the tone came across as flippant and insensitive. Addiction isn't a punchline, it's a lived experience for many, including the whisky community, this shop's customers! When values are sidelined for cheap shock or engagement, it diminishes the experience for everyone. They've missed the mark, and as someone who believes in responsible communication around alcohol and is the son of an alcoholic, I expected better from this shop, given that they are ambassadors for scotch whisky. The shop may stock a good range, but tone and integrity matter just as much as selection. Here's hoping this was a misstep, not a mindset.

The Inverurie Whisky Shop offers an incredible selection, but their Foghouse Gin is truly something special—smooth, aromatic, and bursting with flavor. The Gin Tasting Experience was fantastic—expertly guided, informative, and a whole lot of fun! The passion and knowledge of the team made it even more enjoyable. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or just starting your gin journey, this is an experience not to be missed. Highly recommend. Look forward to the next one!

The host shared fascinating insights into the history of whisky and presented everything in a way that was engaging, even for those of us who don't typically drink whisky. Would definitely recommend.

Feb 19,2025My husband and I attended for a tasting on the day of my husband's 30th birthday and what a treat it was! I initially enquired with Annette at the store explaining that I was struggling what to do on a Monday for my husband's milestone birthday. She very quickly got back to me and was very helpful. I explained I didn't know much about whisky and was not sure how organising a tasting would work. I was able to tell the shop what whiskies my husband did and didn't like, which certainly gave it a bespoke feel to it. She reassured me that I could have a gin tasting and my husband could have a whisky tasting at the same time During the tasting you initially go into the shop which has a wide selection of whisky, rum and gins along side cider and some lager/beers. When I saw what gin they sold, I knew I was in good hands (ngl was blissfully clueless about the whisky). The tasting took place upstairs and was conducted by the owner of the shop, who was friendly, very knowledgeable, and clearly shows a passion for what he does! The room itself is a cosy nook with an "impressive array of whiskies" (direct quote from my husband). The selection chosen for our gins and whiskies was a good diverse selection and certainly felt tailored to us. We left feeling knowledgeable on gin and whisky and definitely learned things to take away! We were under no obligation to buy anything from the shop afterwards and certainly it felt that there was no expectation for us to buy something. ...Naturally, we came away with a bottle of my fave gin and a bottle of whisky 😋 🤣 I couldn't be more happier with the service we got and I've already recommended the tasting service to many friends!

Feb 07,2025As a regular customer unfortunately I can’t recall which visit this review relates to!!! However, it doesn’t matter because every visit is top class. I’ve recently been fortunate to meet staff Annette and Janice, both are super friendly and knowledgeable. Also most importantly I don’t find them to be “pushy”. I would feel comfortable to pop in have a chat and ask about any new products. I think it’s important for a local shop to make people feel comfortable and that’s why I choose “local”.

Feb 05,2025I received a Rum Tasting Experience Voucher for my birthday recently from my son and son-in-law for Inverurie Whisky Shop. Not my first time whisky or rum tasting but first time here and I was blown away. All three of us had an exceptional time and felt that we received great advice and tips as well as a great laugh and some fantastic rum. The bar area is warm , homely and very well stocked and looks like the ultimate Whisky/ Rum Hoose. The advice from Mike and banter was brilliant and I would thoroughly recommend. Well done everyone involved.

Feb 05,2025Wanted 20 each miniatures of whisky and at first wine, both with personalised labels, for March 2025 celebration. Although not local to me I went to the inverurie Whisky Shop. Staff nice and helpful and Annette advised gin (raspberry flavour) instead of the wine. Gave Annette a photo of my label idea and a few days later was sent samples of my request. After agreement for the labels I was sent photos of the finished articles. Within a week I was contacted so I could uplift at my leisure.
