Overall experience - sites/locations visited, tour guide, meals/accommodations were once in a life time!
John Hall’s National Park tour was awesome. We got to experience so many wonderful sites via bus, train, float plane, and small ships. Tour Manager Jeremy and tour guide Matt were both awesome. Both going out of their way to make sure we experienced many Alaskan cultures. Also sharing their love and knowledge of Alaska. John Hall’s Alaska Tour were wonderful when our flight home got canceled- they booked new flights and arranged extra night hotel stay. From the time we arrived in Alaska to the moment we left Alaska everything was taken care of. All I had to do was enjoy the awesome experience. Thank you so much for the awesome memories.
This tour gave me exactly what I was looking for in Alaska. The whole route was well planned and executed. Jeremy Riddle worked hard from the beginning to the end of the land tour. He was very attentive to everyone. I still cannot believe that he did everything on the tour by himself from handling the luggage to coordinating with the lodging and driving the bus! Great guide to have on the trip. Matt Lowe was great on the cruise portion by providing us with lots of good information about the different excursions along the way. Besides having two great guides, we were extremely fortunate to have the great weather most of the trip. The entire trip was well layout and we saw all the typical beautiful sceneries and wildlife as we know from tv shows and magazine. This trip was the trip of a lifetime, literally! John Hall was as advertised! We’ll be doing more in the future.
This is by far the best tour I have ever been a part of. There were so many things that exceeded my expectations. To be able to stand within 15 feet of a bear at Katmai National Park or see Denali on a totally clear day was unreal. The flight out of Kennicott was so beautiful. Meeting many of the native people and learning about the culture is such an honor. I think it would be rare for someone to be disappointed about being on this tour. I’m so looking forward to going on many more John Hall’s adventures.
Gwen our bus driver/interior tour guide was fabulous. Great personality AND great driver. The food was fabulous, just too much of it. Seems like we were always eating. Hotels we're all very nice. Sandy, our on the boat guide, was super fun and very helpful with a great sense of humor. Really got to see the landscape and sea life close up and being able to stop and watch them do there thing was great. The boat crew was great Capt Dan is the best, Haley is super friendly and really knowledgeable, Jacob knows how to make great glacier-ritas and be the catch bus driver. The views and scenery of Alaska are beyond belief and words. Overall we were very pleased with our trip, even though mother nature forced cancellation of the Whittier to Valdez boat trip, and COVID-19 made us miss the train ride from Fairbanks to Denali. We've already recommended this trip to all our friends, and will continue to do so. Thank you JHA for an unforgettable experience.
This was my first experience with an all-inclusive vacation tour, and John Hall’s Alaska 13-Day National Parks of Alaska Land tour was an amazing trip. Visited and explored some of the most beautiful parts of Alaska's national parks, with wildlife galore. Also enjoyed my stay at some very charming and scenic lodge accommodations. It is evident that there is a tremendous amount of work involved to pull off a trip such as this, and the John Hall organization, along with Mark, our tour manager, did a masterful job! Only thing I had to think about was having a great time. Everything was done in first-class style and the small group we had was a plus. I had the best time, a new appreciation and love for Alaska, and an experience of a lifetime.
I will be going on another trip with John Halls , because everything was fantastic, Qwen and Sandy are fantastic. The scenery was unexplainable great. Everyone should see Alaska.
Best vacation ever! Alaska is so amazing and we saw things we only dreamed about. So glad we went through John Hall’s. No other company could give us the experience they gave us. Far and above all of our expectations! I cannot say enough about the them and we will use John Hall’s for our next great adventure!
Exceptional tour company. The attention to detail and service are excellent. The tour we went on was designed for maximal exposure to the areas we visited. The execution of the tour was like clockwork. We were able to enjoy Alaska without any worries. The tour guide was knowledgeable and personable. The tour guide was supported by a team that made the tour appear seamless. John Hall has scouted out the best vendors in Alaska. John Hall’s tours allow for a stressless and enjoyable vacation.
Absolutely the best trip ever. Everyone and everything about the trip was fantastic. Gwen was top notch!
It was an absolutely wonderful experience from the planning process to the trip itself. Bridget and Jennifer helped to answe our questions. Gwen was a superb and informative driver. We loved the hotels and ate way to much food.
This National Parks tour was excellent. The accommodations were top notch. The logistics were better than anything I could have done individually. Little touches like Magic Bars and local restaurants were great. John Hall's did a great job for us. The communication with home office was good. Impressive things included the private bus to Kantishna in Denali. We all had window seats and we saw all of the big five. Panning for gold was an extra touch. The lunch after Denali was excellent. The meeting with the Iditarod winners and their dogs was special. Our guide was Mark and he was excellent. That all said, I must advise that this tour is demanding. The four flights in one day to do Katmai is a long day. Four flights in one day for Barrow is demanding. There is a lot of travel and that is understood as Alaska is huge. Bush planes are a part of Alaska living. Just be prepared for this. I really did not have any complaints. Some of our fellow group members did not like that we didn't have private bathroom at St Elia Kennecott Lodge. I was not upset about this but it needs to be disclosed.
The Grand Slam Alaska tour was amazing. All of the JH staff are wonderful and so accommodating. Alaska is incredibly beautiful with the mountains and wildlife. Our family had a great time.
The John Hall's experience was one of the best yet I've had on a tour. I was excited to see Alaska, but would have missed half of it if I had been driving myself, and would not have known many of the places that made the tour special. I was expecting to see wildlife, but was pleasantly surprised by how close they were to the road in Denali, I also was amazed by the mountains and loved the harbor at Valdez. I think anyone taking a 1st trip to Alaska should do a tour like this and then come back and see it again. My mother who had been there 3 times on her own even got to see many new things and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. I look forward to coming back again, but do need to work with the Alaska Highway department on the placement of their turn off's. There were many scenic views that we saw and I would have loved to photograph, but there was no place to stop and take a photo. I will be in contact with them to see if I could get a job. :).
Everything was wonderful. We had a terrific time.
This was a trip of a lifetime. Every accommodation made by John Hall's staff was top rate. Our tour guide, Gwen, was very enthusiastic and friendly. She had a great sense of humor and appeared to have as much fun as we all had. John Hall's tour took advantage of all available time and scheduled interesting side trips. I would highly recommend John Hall for Alaska tours.
Amazing! Got to see much more than the avg. person driving themselves around. Very educational. My wife and I are 42 and loved it! Thanks again John Hall!
From our 1st inquiry with the company, to the final drop off at the airport, Every employee of John Halls that we dealt with made us feel important. Everyone we dealt with was patient, kind and helpful. Our tour Guide, Jeremy, has a love for Alaska and it showed through with his knowledge of the areas we visited. He was very personable and easy to talk with. He made us feel comfortable and right at home. Our hotel accommodations and food options were wonderful and full of variety. It was a true vacation, for me, who usually plans out all the details. I was able to get on the bus and just enjoy every moment, not worrying about the small stuff. Every detail was taken care of by Jeremy and the John Halls staff. They took the anxiety out of the travels and left us with excitement, adventure and relaxation. Highly recommend this company for your Alaskan adventures!
Very good personal attention, such as airport pickup. Food choices generally good, but service, food, and rooms poor at Backcountry Lodge. Two hours for dinner - mostly involved waiting for next course and entries were poor. Several days were overall wasted. No need for two days at Backcountry lodge. Talkeetna was a waste as all of group was back at Lodge within two hours. Two cruises basically over the same body of water was a waste of time. Two days in Cordova not needed, especially when accommodations were poor. The unexpected plane ride over the glaciers was trip highlight. We had been to Alaska before and expected a great trip. Very disappointed. Tour manager Jeremy Riddle was very good and personable.
Frequent Travelers
Aug 07,2021John Hall’s National Parks of Alaska tour was outstanding in every respect. We traveled by bus, multiple plane flights, train and private vessel. Visited 6 National Parks. Katmai NP watching salmon jumping upstream and the bears catching and growing fatter for the upcoming winter. Wrangle-St. Elias NP with mountain ranges to fly through, tour the old copper mining operation and a glacier to hike to and walk on. Gates of the Arctic NP in Bettles, then on to tour Utqiagvik (Barrow) above the Arctic Circle. Some did the full polar plunge while some just touched the almost freezing water. On to sky high Denali NP seeing bear, moose, caribou, mountain goats and lots of the smaller inhabitants. The most stunning view was a cloudless sky to see Mt. Denali. From up high to sea level at Kenai Fjords NP. Encountered humpback whales, sea otters, puffins and more. Glacier Bay NP with several glaciers to view, mountain goats on edges, bears and birds and a stop to walk in the rain forest. From the cities to small towns, jet boat trip to kayaking and the wonderful vessel we were on for the second half of the trip. The food was great, the accommodations were wonderful, as were the fellow travelers we were with, our guides and our group leaders, Jeremy and Matt. Thank you all at John Hall’s Alaska for an incredible trip! Will look forward to the next trip!!
