Ocean Estate Agents have been selling Bristol homes of all shapes and sizes – large and small, grand ¬and modest, smart and not so smart… for all kinds of people since 1984.
Founder Paul Harris started the business over 40 years ago with Ocean Bishopston on Gloucester Road, and there are now 12 local offices across the city including one in Portishead and Weston super Mare.
Their ethos is very much ‘people before property’, with the emphasis on looking after the individuals and families buying or selling their homes, to make what is often a challenging experience, as worry-free as possible.
Ocean’s teams, reflect the culturally rich communities of this wonderful city, spanning a diverse mix of ages and backgrounds from across Bristol.
It is also very much a family business. Many of the team have grown up and started their own families whilst working for Ocean – they even have some second generation ‘Oceaners’ now working for the company.

Mar 27,2024After what can only be described as a harrowing experience with Goodman & Lilley (G&L) in Henleaze last summer which ended in an aborted sale, we turned to Ocean in Westbury-on-Trym just before Christmas to help us sell our home. It’s fair to say we were physically and mentally exhausted by then and extremely stressed/anxious when we relisted our home with Ocean. However, it quickly became clear that Ocean were very, very different from G&L. After hearing about our experiences last year, Ocean were determined not to let us down and vowed to get us through to completion this time around. Being honest, we were probably not the easiest customers Ocean had ever had, purely because of our awful experiences last year which eroded trust and tainted our view of estate agents in general. Because of our high stress levels, we really did need a lot of support in terms of frequent communication and relaying information promptly to us. However, Steve and Melissa (and also Tim, their professional photographer) gave it their all. They were always positive and genuinely complimentary about our much-loved 1920s home. This of course then cascaded down to potential buyers viewing our property. With some key suggestions from Steve regarding presenting our house a little better and with some fabulous photographs from Tim, we received two offers in days. We struck gold with a lovely couple who fell in love with our home. Once an offer was accepted Ocean sprang into action (especially Melissa) and continued to work hard to keep the process going until we exchanged and completed. Ocean worked hard as a team, from start to finish, to get us through to completion and for that we are very, very grateful to them all. If this alone has not persuaded you to ditch other estate agents who talk-the-talk but don’t walk-the-walk, and go straight to Ocean then perhaps this will. We completed (yes, completed with cash in our bank account) on our house sale in 10 weeks flat. This was from initial viewings to completion date. We appreciate this is quite extraordinary and that we did have very keen, dedicated buyers and a relatively small chain. However, this quick turnaround must still be commended and shows what can be done when all parties pull together and are 100% committed to the process going forward as quickly and as smoothly as possible. Very well done Ocean Westbury-on-Trym, we highly recommend you and wish you all the very best this year, and in the years to come. Thank you.

Mar 27,2024We originally decided to go with Ocean Estate Agents as we had been told by them they had previous experience in selling flats. We were led to believe the first viewing even though more viewings were scheduled for later was sound! We accepted this. Our main and only request was for a quick sale! It was only much later down the line we discovered the buyer had a problem which we should have been informed about from the beginning. Hence the sale took longer than was expected. We have since received several apologies from Ocean Estate Agents but felt very disappointed with time it had taken. No complaints at all with the way the Ocean Solicitors dealt with their part in the sale. In particular Ashleigh was exceptional.

Mar 26,2024Brilliant experience from start to finish. From being shown houses to collecting Keys, Oceans were amazing. When looking for houses, Matt had the hardest job. That being said he was patient with us, he did insist we view a house, even though I wasnt keen due to viewing online. Matt told us we needed to view and not go off photos.. im glad we did as now we live in that house! Oceans communication through our long and complicated process cant be faulted. They always kept us up to date with any progress and we didnt have to chase them once (which was a first in our chain) Lovely team, cant fault them, highly recommend.
