Ocean Estate Agents have been selling Bristol homes of all shapes and sizes – large and small, grand ¬and modest, smart and not so smart… for all kinds of people since 1984.
Founder Paul Harris started the business over 40 years ago with Ocean Bishopston on Gloucester Road, and there are now 12 local offices across the city including one in Portishead and Weston super Mare.
Their ethos is very much ‘people before property’, with the emphasis on looking after the individuals and families buying or selling their homes, to make what is often a challenging experience, as worry-free as possible.
Ocean’s teams, reflect the culturally rich communities of this wonderful city, spanning a diverse mix of ages and backgrounds from across Bristol.
It is also very much a family business. Many of the team have grown up and started their own families whilst working for Ocean – they even have some second generation ‘Oceaners’ now working for the company.

Ocean were with us every step of the way and were so patient. They got us the best deal and were open and honest throughout. Feb 22,2024Me and my partner recently purchased our first property through oceans and can’t fault them. We spoke to a few different estate agencies and they all seemed quite disorganised and unfriendly. We had our first viewing with Layla who was very friendly and helpful and put us at ease with the process. The whole team have been very helpful including Tracey and Lauren who kept us up to date throughout and very responsive to emails. We also used oceans financial adviser Simon who was also very friendly and informative, made the application for the mortgage a lot easier and kept us up to date with any rate changes.

Feb 21,2024Initially smooth sailing and great photos. Annoying inaccuracies in promotional materials for the house that were never fully fixed despite requesting them to be corrected. Then lots of viewings but no offers. When asked, unable to give specific useful feedback about why people weren't offering. Eventually switched estate agents to Elephant (who were excellent in every way) and sold within 2 weeks. Update for accuracy: should have said no serious offers. Did have one below asking price offer very early on that Ocean were clear they thought wasn't serious. We attempted to negotiate and it was immediately withdrawn, confirming that view.

Feb 20,2024Although I've only just started the process with Ocean Estate both Tommy and Will have been really friendly and genuinely seem happy to help me with any queries I have. Everything is resolved in a timely fashion with no hesitation and unlike other Estate/Lettings agents I've worked with, they seem like they actually want to provide a good service to their customers rather than using the market to stiff-arm tenants into agreements that suit them.

Feb 25,2024Despite finding a large number of people to view the property many were not in a position to proceed and many were not even on the market despite Ocean knowing we wanted to move quickly. It may be coincidence, or we may have been unlucky, but when we did receive two offers they recommended the lower one who was selling with them (which obviously generates more commission), after several months they could not proceed and we went with the other buyer who was a dream. The icing on the cake was on completion they gave our buyer the wrong key.
