Oct 21,2019First I want to say that Anne was wonderful with me, answering all my questions and putting me at ease. The experience in San Miguel was absolutely amazing and more than I could have hoped for. Becs, Maria and Harriett who oversaw the program, were so much fun and they put me at ease Immediately. I didn't realize I was going to be doing as much as I did and was happy to do whatever was asked of me. The feeling of catching the eggs as the female dropped them was a great feeling, and watching the nests hatch was so exciting. 15 nests hatched while I was there, and releasing them was one of the best highlights! I recommend this trip for anyone who loves sea turtles :)

Oct 21,2019I had a great 2 weeks with Conservation Volunteers Australia, booked through Oyster. They were super informative and helpful in the time up to my volunteer experience - big thumbs up! Though, I will say some of the work we did throughout my two weeks wasn’t exactly like they advertised on their page. This was of course more the fault of CVA but worth mentioning, since we as volunteers pay a lot of money to be a part of this project. All together a good experience and met friends for life!

Oct 18,2019If you are considering a volunteer/work program, I highly recommend booking through Oyster. Anne and her team do a tremendous job of vetting the traveler with the program, and were very thorough in helping with preparations and planning. My daughter spent a month in a wildlife sanctuary in Ecuador during her gap year, facilitated through Oyster Worldwide, and it was a tremendous period of growth. Oyster provided an important step towards independence in an exotic and safe environment. I would recommend Oyster for future travelers!

Oct 07,2019I volunteered at the Liberty Bear Sanctuary in Romania for 2 weeks with Oyster. It was an overall amazing experience! The support Oyster provided before, during and after your volunteering is exceptional, they are always will to help out and go above and beyond to ensure you are feeling comfortable with everything. The experience itself was unforgettable, getting to work along side the bears was great, and to see there progress in the sanctuary was even better. I would 100% recommend doing programs through Oyster, as they make the process very simple and have a great line of communication to their volunteers and try to help them out as much as possible.

Oct 04,2019I volunteered at the Romanian Bear Sanctuary 10 years ago and last month - it is an amazing place and a true privilege to be a small part in this effort to make rescued bears lives as good as they can possibly be. The sanctuary is a very special place where you get lots of opportunities to watch bears 'just doing their thing' as well as your duties as a volunteer. Oyster provided excellent support both in the UK office and in Brasov where the country manager is always at the end of his phone. I would not hesitate to recommend this experience - go on.....go!!

Oct 04,2019I had an absolutely fantastic time on my South Africa Veterinary Experience trip which I booked through Oyster; I met people from across the globe and got to see animals that some will only ever see on TV. Before my departure, I felt I had more than enough information available to me on the MyOyster account and my coordinator was both very friendly and helpful in ensuring that I was fully prepared. However I would say that for the extra price I paid I would have liked some more contact time with the veterinarian, and more planning in place to maximise what we were able to see and learn about during the sessions. I also booked the Garden Route as an add-on excursion to the end of my two weeks of the experience. I only came to realise once I was in SA through talking with others that for the week I had booked, I was the only one due to do the Garden Route, therefore I managed to swap so that I could have some company for what turned out to be an amazing trip. Whilst I had a great time and in the end, everything worked out well, I did have to pay extra for an internal flight and miss a day at the game reserve making a very long drive back from Cape Town. As a result, in the future, I think it would be good to ensure that no one is alone for any of the trips or excursions they book, as meeting new people is a huge part the adventure. That said, I've made memories for life and I'd highly recommend to all.

They were very informative when it came to the booking process and everything I needed however i feel that in comparison to other booking websites it was extremely over priced in difference. For example, one of the girls who booked with another company paid £300 less than I did for the same programme. In addition, Oyster should give clearer instructions on sim cards and travel cards also the weekend excursions as it never explained how we had to pay for the travel to where ever we wanted to go and paying for the drivers accomodation on top of paying extra for our own accomodation. Nonetheless, I enjoyed every single moment and made sure I took every single opportunity that was given to me.

Sep 25,2019I spent 4 weeks in Portugal, it was amazing. It was the best experience of my life. You should stay 4 weeks because 2 weeks it's not enough. The site is great, the people there too. Thanks to those who allowed me to do that. I want to go back there.

Sep 17,2019Oyster you were fantastic I did one week working with bears and it is sure to be an experience I will never forget. On arrival oyster had everything sorted with easy instructions to follow and they were frequently in contact the weeks prior. Our host was lovely and extremely welcoming with a tasty welcome dinner on arrival and they had everything sorted including transport to and from the sanctuary for the week. They were also very helpful with answering any questions we had regarding work at the sanctuary or the surrounding area of Brasov (which is gorgeous).The accommodation was nice and clean with comfy beds just what you need after a hard days work. This brings me on to the work at the sanctuary, it is hard work, but very enjoyable and rewarding when you see the difference the sanctuary has made to the bears lives. Be prepared to get a little messy but embrace that and the fact that you are being provided with an opportunity that most people will never experience. I loved every minute thank you again for everything.

Sep 11,2019I really enjoyed my experience with Oyster Worldwide. I'd never booked a volunteering project on my own, so I was grateful at how friendly, welcoming and helpful the team were. They were regularly in contact and redirected me to someone who could help with booking flights when I was struggling to find a good one. I booked for a week at an animal sanctuary and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Oyster provided airport transfers, which made the whole thing a lot less scary! I'd never been to the country before or travelled alone, so this was very reassuring. When I arrived at my accommodation, a guide was there to greet me. He had also brought me a welcome meal, which I greatly appreciated as it was really late by the time I'd arrived, meaning there was no time for me to do any shopping. Essentials were provided in the apartment. These included: washing up liquid, toilet roll, hand wash, towels and washing powder. I thought that this was an unexpected but nice touch, as I ideally didn't want to waste money on buying these things if I was only there for a week. The accommodation was really safe, quiet and comfortable. A few other volunteers shared with me, which was nice for the social aspect. I was also given the opportunity to go visit some iconic places whilst I was there, one of which transport was provided by Oyster. After the weekend, I began my experience at the sanctuary. Oyster arranged for a driver to pick us up and bring us back to the accommodation every day. We started work at 9am and finished around half 2 in the afternoon. One volunteer would be in charge of a phone given to us by the guide, which he used to stay in contact with us whilst we were at the sanctuary. If there was ever a problem, the guide sorted it out immediately. Whilst I would've liked to spend more time at the sanctuary daily, what work we did do was rewarding and fun. The sanctuary allowed us to embark on the feeding tour too, which was amazing. We got to see a lot of what the tourists didn't, which felt special and worth every penny. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer!

Sep 07,2019I took my family (age 6 and 8) for two weeks to Costa Rica on the turtle project. We had a wonderful time and really felt like we made a difference helping to protect the turtles and their eggs. The research assistants were fantastic, always answering our questions and making sure there were day time activities to do if we wanted them. Oyster supported us all the way through our journey from booking to arriving safely home.

Sep 06,2019I went on the Costa Rica Turtle Project for 5 weeks and had the best time of my life! Everyone was so genuinely nice and cared for your well being. I have made a lot of new friends on this project. Getting to see a turtle up close is something I will never forget. It's a moment that just reminds you of how amazing nature is. I recommend this trip to everyone. I wanna thank Georgie for always giving me speedy responses and making sure I was comfortable, I want to thank the Research assistants and Coordinators for mentoring me through the project and for the locals embracing me into their community.
