Aug 20,2015My tap water straight from the tap is 40+ppm. I had been suffering with a string algae problem for a couple of months when I decided to try this filter. I have to admit I was a bit dubious that it would be effective as I have tried Nitrate filters in my Canister filter with no real reduction in the nitrates in my tank. My Nitrate levels from the tap after filtering have reduced to less than 5ppm. Over the past 2 weeks I have been doing 2 water changes a week (25% followed by a 50%). The algae is has now pretty much disappeared from the plant leaves, practically gone from the substrate and is dramatically disappearing from my rocks. I would thoroughly recommend this filter for anyone suffering similar problems. My aquarium Nitrate levels have now reduced from 80-160ppm to around 20ppm and I am hopeful to continue to reduce this further. Many thanks.
