The management here is a complete disaster. Fire alarms constantly go off, there was a full-day water outage with no proper communication, and now toilets aren’t even flushing properly. Basic necessities are being neglected, yet we’re still expected to pay full price for this terrible service. At this point, residents deserve compensation and a formal apology from the landlord himself. They’re lucky we don’t take legal action for the ongoing negligence. I won’t be booking here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. -straits village
These people have no empathy, and will gladly take advantage of a naive 19 year old girl with mental health issues for money. My daughter has no experience with renting, and these people knew it! Don't go with this company, they cannot be trusted. The state of her flat was disgusting, and no matter how many times my daughter complained, the issues were never resolved and she was constantly ignored. They are now completely spinning the story no matter the evidence my daughter gives, and continuing to ignore the main issues at hand. Please, for your own sake... Do NOT approach this company.
Great Service, very friendly and helpful staff. Booking was completed within practically 10 minutes, far more efficient booking directly than through an agency.
I dont like how the flat mates sometimes arent that clean and the flat smells extremely awful and the kitchen isnt that nice and hygienic, and theres this some weird sound that comes every night that is very weird and its annoying but i cant do anything to make it stop because its above my room. I really dont think this helpful although i need to either move out or change my flat.

The process of booking is made easy by the use of the online portal as well as the Staff Members will help you as needed. The staff are always on hand to provide support and security is 24/07 making it a safe and secure place to live. Many different events are put on throughout the year with a lot of residential input.
HIGH Alert! Think twice before making any payment to them! This company takes forever to refund my deposit. I was told in the second week of Sep by the manager Cassie that the deposit will be refunded to me within 30 days. But now it is Nov 16, has been two months and they still have not processed my refund! I have seen numerous people posting online about not getting their refunds. Scam business!
They consistently refuse to refund deposits based on the number of one star reviews on this site. My sons girlfriend, who is from another country, foolishly paid a year’s rent upfront for her accommodation. When she decided that she didn’t want to live there anymore due to hostile reception staff, she moved to other accommodation. She has arranged another suitable person to take over her tenancy as stated in the rules, but all her emails and calls are being ignored. It’s virtually impossible to get your money back once they have it. Now three months later, We will help her make a legal claim against the company. I believe this is the only way to get them to return the funds. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND READ THE ONE STAR REVIEWS!
Staying at onyx I used prestige living who are also WeAreHomesForStudents to book for my accommodation and upon booking I used a cash back code for £500 and when it came to paying people I revived less than half. My emails were ignored and this Is poor especially as I’ve paid 350 extra to defer SFE payments to ensure I could stay here
I cancelled my booking with them during their cooldown period, and after months of back and forth emails and endless excuses, they still haven't refunded my £99 deposit. Worst of all, they refuse to give me a phone number to contact them directly on. Stay away from this company! Do not rent from them, especially if you value your money. Their parenting company is WeAreHomeForStudents, by the way, so make sure to flag both of them.
Accommodation availability is not kept up-to-date. Showing rooms they do not have available to rent out, their entire application portal is very janky and does not work well.
Because i booked the room and pay the first month rent and deposit but dont get the room because the manager she didn't know about the policies and gave the wrong information to us and even after 1 month im not getting my refund yet !!
Amazing experience. Have had no problems whatsoever, I have been told by a few friends that there has been problems in their rooms but were fixed within an instant. I would highly recommend for student to stay at The Place. Overall I give it a 10/10
Onyx is the perfect accommodation for students. The location is very good, and all amenities required can be found nearby.

The WiFi connection is not strong, get to struggle to use the WiFi as the connection is slow and signal strength is not strong
Appalling experience with this company / wearehomesforstudents. My daughter paid a holding deposit in early June and visited the property in Reading two Days later. The property was fine but not suitable for her needs and as per the terms she cancelled the booking. She was informed that her deposit would be returned straight away. On checking the terms and conditions this could take upto 28’days which was fine. 3 months later and after dozens of phone calls and emails we still have not had the deposit returned . We have followed the complaint process and despite promises of call backs, updates etc the deposit and a response to the complaint remains outstanding . Further correspondence has been ignored . The worst customer experience I have ever experienced in my life and on this experience , we are extremely glad that my daughter didn’t move in. Be warned if considering using this company for student accommodation.
Poor Communication and Lack of Response Before you secure a place with Prestige Student Living, you might receive swift responses—but don’t expect the same once you’re a tenant. My experience has been marked by zero communication from them when it mattered most!!!! I’m moving out soon from Tribu Kingston and have found a new place to live. As part of my tenant referencing process, I needed Prestige Student Living to complete a landlord reference. However, despite reaching out multiple times via email and phone over the past three weeks, I have received no response or confirmation from their team. Even the tenant referencing company, HomeLet, contacted them without success. I’m really disappointed by the lack of communication and urgency on such a critical matter. I trusted that this process would be handled promptly, but instead, the experience has been frustrating and stressful. All my other information has been successfully processed, but without this reference, I cannot secure my new place and risk losing my holding deposit, which could leave me without a place to live.
Please beware if personal security is of importance to you. My daughter is a student and took over a lease from another student who was moving out at Gateway apartments in Edinburgh so was only staying there for 6 weeks as was working over the summer in Edinburgh. She was advised check out time was 10 am 24/8/24. However arriving back from work at 2.45am that day found her key fob wouldn’t work and was therefore locked out the building. She called the emergency number who advised her key fob had been disabled at midnight and would need to pay £54 to call out security to let her in and could take up to 2 hours even though she was a lone female stranded outside in the middle of the night through no fault of her own! She agreed to this as had no other choice and ”security” took 2.5 hours to arrive so she did not gain access to her room until 5.15am! Fortunately the door to reception which is normally opened by the same key fob was broken/unlocked so was able to shelter from the elements but this was only by luck. Having had experience of student accommodation in other cities I found this level of service to be extremely poor.

Feb 19,2025I signed an agreement with the dormitory on October 28th. However, due to a personal problem with the manager, the manager unilaterally terminated my contract. And I had a very hard time in the middle of winter. They still haven't returned the deposit I paid on October 29th. I sent 100 emails. I have all the evidence. They are both canceling the contract and not returning your money. I should have thought very carefully before paying money here. I will have no choice but to sue. My student number: WES458153
