Global interest in British design and manufacturing has never been higher and Samuel Groves is building on this golden opportunity by continuing to invest in manufacturing equipment to produce the very best cook and bakeware at their manufacturing site in Birmingham.
Few suppliers of hospitality products go back as far as Samuel Groves. This venerable Birmingham-based manufacturer of kitchen equipment started in 1817. The big take-off into hospitality supply came during the Second World War when Samuel Groves won a major government contract to produce aluminium trays, with many other items for the Ministry of Works and the War Office being added soon after. This helped reinforce the foundations of the modern business, which gained a major boost from the introduction of the Mermaid brand at the beginning of the 1950s.
Samuel Groves encompasses all facets of manufacturing including Metal Cutting, Presswork, Metal Spinning, Welding, Fabrication and Injection Moulding. In addition, we are able to design and manufacture our own tooling in house.
Even though the market and indeed cooking practices have evolved over the years, Samuel Groves quality and processes have improved. We remain traditional manufacturers and every product we are proud to say is still hand-finished. We have been a manufacturer in Birmingham for close to 200 years, some of the skills that will be used in the factory today will have been used all throughout those 200 years.
Every range produced at our factory, we believe is the best you can buy, whether that’s our robust stainless steel 3-ply cookware, or timeless Mermaid anodised bakeware.
Prompt service, delivery and excellent quality.
Easy to order, excellent product.
Good quality cookware. Premium price. If you appreciate the best, then these could be just the ticket.
Quality product delivered faster than advertised lead time. Heats up really quickly and none stick works well.
Great overall service. Easy ordering and very prompt delivery.
SG have made a tough and durable cast iron fry pan. This has the benefit ofa well designed handle. It is cast iron and it is heavy. Could be a two hander for some folk.
Being able to purchase a great quality product that is going to last a very long time and made in England.
Really quick delivery Good instructions and care guide They are the best non stick I’ve ever bought, expensive but worth it!
Great product. Arrived quickly. Cooks food so much quicker and more evenly. Won’t ever buy anything else now.
Same day dispatch. Excellent product. Prices sometimes best on SG website, sometimes better elsewhere, which is a little frustrating. Also, many products say 'made to order' when in fact they are in stock and dispatched same day, so could be helpful to indicate this more clearly. Overall great and I love the pans.
The best pan that I have ever owned
Excellent products, built to last a lifetime. Shipped timely The seasoned carbon frying pan, is excellent nothing sticks! Love the 3 ply steel pan Both products, as always excellent and I'm looking forward to buying more in the future
Excellent purchase. The quality and style of the pan set is just what I was looking for 👊. Heat up very quickly and looking good as new after a few months of everyday use. 5* from me.
Great product, but the company appears to be completely unable to respond to emails/enquiries made through its own online contact form, so let down by poor customer service, I'm afraid.
Samuel Groves provide a lifetime guarantee for their products, so a review after a few weeks ownership cannot provide a full picture. That said, their non-stick tri-ply frying pan has performed perfectly so far. A drop of oil and fish fillets or omelette slide out of the pan all cooked evenly. After cooking a curry, a rinse under the tap and a wipe with kitchen roll and the pan is ready to go. The pan is heavier than standard 'High street' brands, but professional quality with a lifetime guarantee is what you're paying for.
We bought the 28cm non-stick frying pan, but after just two years we noticed it had become warped. We always waited until it cooled before washing. We never put it in the dishwasher or even into the oven, although you can up to 230C. I reported this to Samuel Groves claiming a manufacturing defect, but they said their products don't develop these type of problems and it's all our fault, in other words we were liars. Their lifetime guarantee is bomb proof as they'll always claim the customer is in the wrong, regardless of it having a product fault. We'll put it in with our camping kit as we can use any rubbish on the little gas stove, and replace it with something decent. Our best advice to anyone looking to buy this frying pan is to buy a different brand as you won't get a lifetime of use from this product. No doubt they'll come back with some trashy response, but it's your hard earned cash, just buy forewarned.

Aug 20,2023Love the pan but as a 'newbie' to using a carbon steel frying pan, I would have liked some instructions, just basic guidance, as to the best way to keep it in good condition.
