Global interest in British design and manufacturing has never been higher and Samuel Groves is building on this golden opportunity by continuing to invest in manufacturing equipment to produce the very best cook and bakeware at their manufacturing site in Birmingham.

Few suppliers of hospitality products go back as far as Samuel Groves. This venerable Birmingham-based manufacturer of kitchen equipment started in 1817. The big take-off into hospitality supply came during the Second World War when Samuel Groves won a major government contract to produce aluminium trays, with many other items for the Ministry of Works and the War Office being added soon after. This helped reinforce the foundations of the modern business, which gained a major boost from the introduction of the Mermaid brand at the beginning of the 1950s.

Samuel Groves encompasses all facets of manufacturing including Metal Cutting, Presswork, Metal Spinning, Welding, Fabrication and Injection Moulding. In addition, we are able to design and manufacture our own tooling in house.

Even though the market and indeed cooking practices have evolved over the years, Samuel Groves quality and processes have improved. We remain traditional manufacturers and every product we are proud to say is still hand-finished. We have been a manufacturer in Birmingham for close to 200 years, some of the skills that will be used in the factory today will have been used all throughout those 200 years.

Every range produced at our factory, we believe is the best you can buy, whether that’s our robust stainless steel 3-ply cookware, or timeless Mermaid anodised bakeware.

I love Samuel Groves pots and pans, they have high quality and they are true to what they describe on their website, different than brands that are more expensive like Mauviel. I super recommend!

The roasting tins arrived promptly and well-packaged. Paper wrapping sealed with a sticker is nice enough to just embellish with a Christmas ribbon or similar and pop under the tree. Gifts for my daughters which will last a lifetime! (I have all the sizes!)

First pan of genuine quality I have purchased, and it's a classic. Think of it as an investment rather than an expense. Enjoy the look and feel. And feel good for buying British.

We ordered a number of carbon steel pans as we had been using some spun iron and cast iron ones for a time and wanted to expand our set. We wanted the option to use the pans on the barbecue and open fire. We've not been able to use the pans as we'd like as the quality just isn't as expected. The pans are supposed to be pre-seasoned but they're scratchy and arrived with some debris on them. In fact they're so rough they catch paper towel or tea towel material. Even after we have seasoned them a few times they're still rough and scratchy, just not what we would expect. The only option will be to sand them, but this is not something we would expect to do. Sadly our Samuel Groves multiple item purchase has been a very expensive mistake. We are very disappointed.

one pan was very good as i expected. the flat pan was warped and a bit buckled. but i have such a lot to do i couldn't get round to sending it back, so sealed it with oil and hoped for the best, the oil was not covering evenly and it is a bit sticky in that spot. I bought a mermaid baking sheet years ago as recommended by Delia Smith and it is still wonderful,

Well where to start, i am a new hobby chef at home, learning everyday and wanting to treat myself to incredible pots pans etc. This wok is not just a pan, it is a work of art!! Incredibly beautiful to look at heavier to lift than i thought and is quite sensitive to heat. Only got up to medium gas hob heat which did cause a blue-ish tint inside...but i called customer services, got straight through and spoke to a really lovely man, who explained it needs only the lowest gas hob setting of around 2. So it will take a little bit of getting used to as im new to these top of the range cookware. I am aiming to fill up the hanging shelves and bakeware drawers all in due time as money allows. Speaking of which the loyality points really do help off set next purchase. Im just so glad i have found them, supporting british business as all made here, no China rubbish here, and wonderful support on tap, so many companies leave you stranded and wasting money. This really is a no brainer, just work harder to get yourself some more dosh.

I ordered the '45cm Seasoned Carbon Steel Double Burner Griddle Pan' M0631 which arrived today. I'm sorry to say I am really disappointed with the quality. The pan arrived very rough. The product claims to arrive already seasoned but it's absolutely not ready to cook with - it's so rough you can't even wipe oil on with kitchen paper without it ripping. It needs sanding before it can be cooked with, it will scratch the hob surface otherwise. I mean it's really rough. For me, one of the advantages of Carbon Steel over Cast Iron is that you get a smooth surface. But this one is scratchy and full of burrs. You get a deposit of metal when you wipe your finger on it, so I've no idea how they claim it is already seasoned and ready to use. If it was, there wouldn't be metal deposit when you touch it. The first time I heated it up (slowly of course, preheating it slowly to temp) it warped immediately! literally wobbling on the hob. When it cooled down again it went back to shape - but again, I bought carbon steel because I wanted a flat, smooth surface! Is this supposed to happen? I am experienced in cooking with bare metal. I eliminated all teflon / PFAs from my kitchen some years ago and cook with stainless steel, carbon steel and Cast Iron only. My daily pans are Debuyer Carbon Steel, Vogue and All-Clad Stainless steel, and a chinese manufactured cast iron skillet. I know how to season, maintain, and cook with bare metal cookware. I cook an omelette in a carbon steel pan daily with no sticking. The Debuyer Carbon Steel pans I use have never arrived with this level of roughness. To be honest I'm really disappointed. I wanted to 'buy British' and be proud of cooking with British manufactured steel, and I wanted this large griddle to be the show piece of my kitchen. But honestly but this made me think I should have just got a reputable US brand like Lodge or Victoria cast iron, or a French brand like Debuyer again. The Carbon Steel products I already own have never bowed / warped like this under heat either, they remain completely flat even at high heats and after years of use. I emailed three days ago but got no response. I still don't know if the quality is what they normally produce or whether mine should have failed QA. For £100 I expected high quality, but next time I'll buy a brand I have previously used and trust. 31/10 Update: Heard back from them, and they stand by the quality of the griddle as received. It's £100 wasted and lesson learnt for me to go to a trusted brand like lodge, debuyer, Victoria or other quality, reputable company who manufacture Carbon Steel / Cast Iron in the future.

My second pan purchased and the quality is absolutely superb. Having a refurbishment service is an added bonus so I will never have to throw these pans away. Well packaged and quickly despatched an added bonus. I would never buy any other cookware.

Hi I have just replaced all of my saucepans with your copper induction range 12 pans/casseroles in total spending an absolute fortune but thought I would only buy once. However I firstly cooked a casserole in the casserole pan which cooked beautifully but left me with a bright red pan and a speckled lid. I also now have 3 discoloured saucepans and 2 discoloured frying pans after cooking yesterday. Could you please let me know how to restore them as only cooked at 160, washed up as soon as used not in dishwasher. I’m really disheartened as seen reviews where you could keep them out on show but I couldn’t have them out on show even after one use.
