Global interest in British design and manufacturing has never been higher and Samuel Groves is building on this golden opportunity by continuing to invest in manufacturing equipment to produce the very best cook and bakeware at their manufacturing site in Birmingham.
Few suppliers of hospitality products go back as far as Samuel Groves. This venerable Birmingham-based manufacturer of kitchen equipment started in 1817. The big take-off into hospitality supply came during the Second World War when Samuel Groves won a major government contract to produce aluminium trays, with many other items for the Ministry of Works and the War Office being added soon after. This helped reinforce the foundations of the modern business, which gained a major boost from the introduction of the Mermaid brand at the beginning of the 1950s.
Samuel Groves encompasses all facets of manufacturing including Metal Cutting, Presswork, Metal Spinning, Welding, Fabrication and Injection Moulding. In addition, we are able to design and manufacture our own tooling in house.
Even though the market and indeed cooking practices have evolved over the years, Samuel Groves quality and processes have improved. We remain traditional manufacturers and every product we are proud to say is still hand-finished. We have been a manufacturer in Birmingham for close to 200 years, some of the skills that will be used in the factory today will have been used all throughout those 200 years.
Every range produced at our factory, we believe is the best you can buy, whether that’s our robust stainless steel 3-ply cookware, or timeless Mermaid anodised bakeware.
You sent the vouchers but did not include my name on the adress ... we are a school so that made it very difficult for us. As they had not arrived I eventually had to chase you to find out who signed for the delivery and it was only be a process of elimination that we found the package.
Great product, UK made. Heats quicker than my last pan so definitely a good conductor. Recieved a good deal and arrived in good time.
The product is superb
Goods arrived much earlier than expected!
A great pan retains its heat well .
Great service and quality
Item broken in transit and they arranged courier to collect it and dispatched replacement quickly. Great customer service.
Really is a quality product, 28cm frying pan. Order came quickly.
Great product, top quality with the reassurance of an excellent lifetime warranty. Fast delivery in sturdy packaging. Very pleased.
The only reason a 5* review is missing is that the time from Order to Receipt was rather long - something to do with a problem in the process. This is the second item I have bought from this UK manufacturer and I am as likely to be delighted by it as I have been with the first. Their products are definitely worth the money and it is to be hoped that people will be even more motivated by knowing that the company is British and the goods are manufactured here. The goods are resilient and will last for ages.
High quality cookware delivered within a few days of ordering.
Utterly ludicrous ❗️ Over 2 months for 3 bloody pans. NEVER AGAIN ❗️ I shall visit a shop. Very disappointing.
Poor customer service, such a shame. Probably think they’re too big for needing new and repeat customers. Edit to respond - if you know my name you obviously know of our correspondence. Stop trying to be clever.
Love the pan. Nice and heavy with the cast in lettering on the underside.
Handsome pans, impeccable service, what more can I say
On 12 February I ordered the seasoned carbon steel double griddle at a cost of £80 (which was deducted from my account immediately). The website states to allow up to 20 working days for delivery as items are made to order. It never arrived, so I contacted customer service who said there had been a delay in them receiving the necessary materials to make the item. Fair enough I thought, but when I queried why they hadn't let me know about the delay I was told they had too many customers so didn't let people know. When it still wasn't received some 4 weeks later, I emailed again to be told I would receive the item 'next week' (ie, the week following Easter weekend). On 20 April (some 10 weeks after my order) I cancelled and asked for a refund. I want to buy British; I want to support British manufacturing, but experiences like this makes me think 'why bother'. Samuel Groves took payment for an order they could not fulfil (I was subsequently told they didn't know when I would receive the item), yet it is still advertised as being available in up to 20 days. They have zero proactive customer service in that they do not bother to contact affected customers. If zero stars were an option, this is what they would get.
The website was easy to use and ordering what I wanted was straight forward. The communication about the delivery was good and it turned up on time, and securely packaged.
Quality gear.
My delivery came exactly when it was expected. I cannot express how pleased I am with this item. It surpasses all of my expectations. Quality and beauty - perfection.
