Global interest in British design and manufacturing has never been higher and Samuel Groves is building on this golden opportunity by continuing to invest in manufacturing equipment to produce the very best cook and bakeware at their manufacturing site in Birmingham.
Few suppliers of hospitality products go back as far as Samuel Groves. This venerable Birmingham-based manufacturer of kitchen equipment started in 1817. The big take-off into hospitality supply came during the Second World War when Samuel Groves won a major government contract to produce aluminium trays, with many other items for the Ministry of Works and the War Office being added soon after. This helped reinforce the foundations of the modern business, which gained a major boost from the introduction of the Mermaid brand at the beginning of the 1950s.
Samuel Groves encompasses all facets of manufacturing including Metal Cutting, Presswork, Metal Spinning, Welding, Fabrication and Injection Moulding. In addition, we are able to design and manufacture our own tooling in house.
Even though the market and indeed cooking practices have evolved over the years, Samuel Groves quality and processes have improved. We remain traditional manufacturers and every product we are proud to say is still hand-finished. We have been a manufacturer in Birmingham for close to 200 years, some of the skills that will be used in the factory today will have been used all throughout those 200 years.
Every range produced at our factory, we believe is the best you can buy, whether that’s our robust stainless steel 3-ply cookware, or timeless Mermaid anodised bakeware.
Efficient service & super products.
Excellent pan to use
Absolutely faultless service from a lady in the sales team from start to finish. I explained what I expected from a pan - and she delivered. We agreed the Tom Kerridge range suited my needs best and I will never look back. I am confident that I have a pan for life and will be buying again soon from the other ranges available at Samuel Groves. Would highly recommend!
Super pan arrived on- time. Now my go to sauce making pan on my induction hob
Excellent quality, beautifully made. A pleasure to use. Will be buying other sizes shortly.
The site was easy to navigate and I quickly found the pans I was looking for. Upon using them, I am astounded at how well they work...I never review however I just had too as these are amazing. 100% would fully recommend - thank you!
Excellent British copper pans - less expensive than the alleged French market leader and a greater induction range than Mauviel too
We have had a Mermaid roasting dish for 20 years. It is easy to clean and almost indestructible. So we were delighted to find that they were still available and did not hesitate to order another one. It came quickly and safely in an enormous cardboard box.
Excellent product
Fantastic quality, loving the chefs pans, if I had one gripe it's the sides of the WOK being perhaps a little shallow and I'm regularly shoving food out of the wok when cooking. Something that has hardly happened with my previous cheaper woks.
Delivery prompt. Product, pan, first rate and much used.
I have bought many products before & been very happy with the quality - I think they will last forever! Product arrived earlier than estimated & has been put to good use. Many thanks - always love to buy British made goods.
Ordered a chef's pan, great product but took months to arrive and only got despatched once I'd sent them an inquiry. Definitely shonky on the distribution side but comparable quality of steel pans to Mauviel etc. so what can you do.
Best trays I've ever owned. Excellent quality.
I wanted a pan for life. I was fed up of purchasing pricey pans that only last for a few years and could not be recoated. Such a wasteful situation. Then I found Samuel Groves! I took a deep breath and ordered my first cast iron SG pan. It arrived quickly and fresh out the box it looked substantial and like it could handle anything I threw at it. Which is great because I instantly seasoned it (with way too much oil and it turns out it didn't even need seasoning because SG do that bit for you to get you started). I was gutted, the most expensive pan I have ever bought was seemingly ruined. The customer service I received from this company was outstanding. They calmly reassured me and over a few days of me thinking I had trashed the best pan in the world, guided me through each step of a very simple process that meant my purchase was good as new again! Plus, I now have the confidence to season it myself and experiment with it when cooking. I would have been nervous about using it, but after it took such an initial beating from me I understand that this pan is for life. It will likely out-live me! So far I have made the best skillet pan pizzas, an incredible loaf of bread, multiple banana pancakes, omelettes, stir fry, and am drooling over a cinnamon roll recipe that I hope to try soon. I have used this pan every day and am enjoying learning how to cook with this new to me type of cookware. Thank you!
Just become owners of Samual Groves cookware. I love it. Straight from the oven to the table. Looks fab. Thank You. Will be getting more.
Why buy More when you can buy Samuel Groves, what can I say….. Wow, worth the wait, worth the money worth the amazing quality thank you, will be buying again for sure
I have had 2 Samuel Groves Mermaid anodised aluminium baking sheets for 22 years and the trio of smaller trays for 20 years. After all these years they remain in very good condition, even with all my burnt offerings they are still virtually non-stick and are easy-peasy to clean using a sponge after a short soak. Very well worth the investment. My last buy was a bundle of cookware which I split as Christmas presents, keeping some for me too of course! It all arrived promptly in recyclable/reusable brown paper packaging and, far from boring, all the recipients are really happy with their new and practically indestructible bakeware. If you are thinking of buying cookware, buy once and buy Samuel Groves. Saves you money, work longtime and made in Birmingham, England, so saving all sorts of resources.
You can probably get 6 non stick pans for the price of this one but what a pan ! Almost magical nothing sticks so no need to scratch so no scratches - simple really. Will probably see me out, and a lovely feel to it. Difficult to justify the price but look at what you waste on clothes etc - and its British ! Won't ever be troubling the land fill - why not buy one and be amazed.
