Upon researching places in the Chicago area, Chris McMacken from Secure Data called promptly after my initial inquiry, was very up front about the process and pricing, and checked in with progress and status updates throughout the process. The entire endeavor was easy to go through, and at the end of the day easily 80 to 90 percent of my files were recovered, including nearly all of my saved work from college and graduate school that was most important to me. Oct 17,2016I inherited a server running on old hardware with about 2TB of data on it. While moving the data to a new SAN volume the server had a failed drive and ate its RAID configuration. I shipped all the drives to Secure Data Recovery and they retrieved all the data from the drives and returned it to me. Great service overall, very responsive, and the turn around time was good. Not cheap, but well worth it in the end.

Oct 13,2016Let me say that Secure Data Recovery saved us in a significant way. Like many of the other stories here, we had a complete hard drive failure (BOTH mirrored hard drives from one of our servers died). Two hours of tech support with Dell and they gave up. Then I found out our backup software stopped backing up (just this server) in July. So we’ve lost 3 months of documents, a crippling amount for our business. My last option was the service offered by Secure Data Recovery. Less than a week after sending them our data, we got an external drive overnighted back to us with a 100% recovery of all the files from the failed hard drives. The process was actually easy. Oct 07,2016I had a 1TB hard drive crash that was the only backup of decades of photos, documents, etc. I was initially wary of sending my data to an unknown company I had found online, but once they received it I received incredible customer service from Rob, who communicated with me efficiently and knowledgeably throughout the whole process. Though it ended up being an expensive repair according to my budget, based on the research I did it seemed entirely aligned with other services. One of the best customer experiences I have had with any company.

Oct 04,2016I was super nervous sending my hard drive in for data recovery, as I had never screwed up bad enough to need it before, but everything worked out amazingly. My rep was Alec and he was absolutely amazing to work with. He was very patient with me, and answered all of my dumb questions. The folks at SDR were able to recover all of the data I was hoping to get back, and shipped it back extremely quickly. Hopefully I won't need to use a data recovery service again, but if I do I'll go with SDR (and probably ask for Alec again).

The first time around I didn't have a big enough budget for the project (despite the company giving me a great and reasonable price) and I got the drive back easily. A few months later, having saved up money and remembering the great customer service I received, I got back into contact with my same representative and we completed the recovery easily and I'm very pleased. SDR would have my business again, very good company with a particularly good human element. I am a small time client for them, not a massive company with massive money but they treated me just the same! A+

Sep 28,2016My friend sent me her computer because it wasn't booting properly and the hard drive contained her one-of-a-kind priceless photos. After several checks, it was apparent that the problem was a serious hardware issue with her hard drive, and I had to find a place that would be capable of recovering the data. In doing my research, I learned that most places don't have a real clean room, don't do much more than software attempts at recovery, and functionally weren't much better than attempting recovery myself. Then, I discovered Secure Data Recovery. They have a proper clean room. They're a GSA approved contractor. They're manufacturer approved. This inspired much more confidence on my part. I called and spoke with Chris McMacken about the bad hard drive. After a couple of minutes, it became clear that he had real experience with hard drives, and he was able to provide me with a price range for data recovery, based on the severity of the problem. I felt even more confident using Secure Data Recovery after my phone conversation, because he didn't make extravagant promises and was honest that some problems could be expensive to fix. He also advised me that if they couldn't recover the data, I wouldn't be charged. He gave me a case number and a local address for drop-off. The next step was dropping off the broken hard drive, which I had removed from the computer. It turns out that Secure Data Recovery has a number of remote locations around the country for drop-off, and those locations in turn use an express delivery service to send it to their main lab. The day after I dropped it off, I got a response noting that it had been received and a link to their website for a formal authorization. As recovery progressed, I was timely notified via e-mail, and their website not only kept me informed but also allowed me to authorize payment. Diagnosis of the problem also was shown on their website; in my case it was failed read/write heads. Sadly, this is on the more expensive end of costs, but recovering data from this kind of problem definitely requires professional help. The website is secure and requires logging in to look at your personalized account page. When data recovery was complete, I got an e-mail telling me the results, including how many files had been recovered and the number of unrecoverable files. Chris McMacken also called me to ask how I wanted the recovered files sent to me, offering a USB drive for purchase. Authorization for payment was handled securely through their website. The files were express delivered to me within a couple of days after that. Secure Data was able to recover the files my friend needed, and it looks like they recovered all of them. Bottom-line: if you need your data recovered, Secure Data Recovery is the way to go. Chris McMacken kept me informed, and their website does a great job of monitoring progress. Their services are reasonable, fast, and effective. It does get pricey for more complex problems, but that's just to be expected. I would highly recommend them for recovering data, especially if it's vital data that cannot be recovered via software or if you're totally inexperienced at data recovery. Repeated attempts to access a bad drive can actually cause you to lose your data, so at that point, it becomes critical to use an honest and reliable service. I would use Secure Data Recovery again without any hesitation.

Nov 05,2016I called Chris at Secure Data Recovery while I was crying about my external hard drive giving up (I had over 3 million files on it) He was so personable and really encouraging me that everything was going to be okay - I called Seagate before that since my external hard drive was on warranty and they told me they wouldn't guarantee all my files back. I honestly could not be so thankful or helpful. My external hard drive was near to worse possible situation and they STILL managed to get 98% of my files back AND in a super fast, timely matter.
