This is the second car these guys have managed the import for me. Always a smooth process, good communication and friendly to deal with. Will not look elsewhere for my next car.
I ordered a simple custom clearance plus HMRC NOVA service for £95. It started well, enough information received and the amount due was available fast. However, after I made a payment, I started to experience issues. I made an international transfer and it was mainly my fails to use wrong IBAN number. After a couple of days when I got no confirmation from SMC that the amount has been received, I started t query them about the status but the answer was three or four times to give them the exact amount that was credited to the receiver account. I obtained all information I would and sent to them, with no reasonable outcome. After about two weeks of mails going back and forth, I finally told them that I started the investigation via my bank and asked for any confirmation that the money was not received. They forwarded me exactly one mail they managed to send to HMRC, after ten days the payment was made. When I got this mail, I was able to find out the reason for failed payment within 15 minutes and HMRC officer was replying fast and kind. SMC was blaming HMRC for the delay but despite this was mainly my own fault, they kept lying to me that they are "chasing the payment" when in fact they sent one and only mail to HMRC only ten days after I started asking them about the payment status. But it has not ended there. The NOVA thing was not done at all. They kept feeding me with promises for two weeks, saying that it can take up to two weeks. When, after 14 days, I reminded them again, they said "it can take a couple of weeks". I also got a contact number of someone who actually does this customs things for SMC. When I called him, he just kept saying "leave it with me, I will fix it, probably today". This was Wednesday last week. Today is Friday the week after, 10 days later, and I have heard nothing ever since. This does not surprise me for some reason. I called HMRC several times and they were quite friendly and told me that no NOVA notice is found based on the data I can provide. I am very sure SMC and their agent could have done the same but they did not and just kept sending me "wait more time" messages. In total, the customs declaration was submitted on the 6th of April and now it is 13th of May, no NOVA is done, DVLA just denied my application to register the vehicle. Although I partially accept the two weeks initial delay with payment, all the rest is just bad service of SMC. Their "wait more" and "leave it with me" mean nothing at all, it is just air thrilling. I would have done everything myself, faster, cheaper and more efficient.
I found Shipmycar to be very professional and a pleasure to deal with. There online quote system was very helpful and easy to use. The IVA work carried out on my car was done to a very high standard. Would not hesitate in recommending them and using them again. Thank you. Joe Osuch
The guys at Shipmycar did a fantastic job from start to finish, which for me, had a restoration I had to complete in the middle. So was a lengthy process. Even so, I had great communication, I never felt forgotten, attention to detail was top rate, and they handled everything as true professionals. I would recommend this company with no reservations.
My 1SS Camaro was shipped over for me from the US earlier this year and was trouble free and updated along the way. The biggest thing for me is the attention to detail and keeping in line with the American realism of the car such as:- -Keeping both rear light diffusers red (not changed to orange or white) while still flashing orange -LED indicators in the wing mirrors not drilled into the side wing. - GM front number plate holder with USA size number plate - BOTH rear lights are illuminated when the side lights are on not just the one like most other companies. -Reversing light and fog light in the existing correct housing, not a pull down separate add on, with a small switch hidden on the dashboard. when looking into shipping a car it is easy to look past the above, but for me its these touches that stay with the car and keep it the American way its intended, no corners cut or dodgy lighting. I get a number of Camaro owners wishing they had the same attention to detail and the same light set up as mine and others who have had their car shipped from ship my car. I couldn't fault the process and the attention to detail and I'm sure this is no different with the other models of cars they ship over. thanks guys and keep up the good work.
Bringing my first car in from Japan, my friend put me on to ShipMyCar as being my best option for Customs clearance. Nick did a great job of talking me through the process, then rapidly sorted everything. Would recommend them to anyone.
wow I stumbled on a firm that can deliver on their promises.......... a rare quality in todays world. The road was long but the updates along the way were a great relief i will be using again and recommending to others
Nick and Kingsley have professional and helpful throughout all the stages of importing my 2014 Camaro ZL1. If I had any questions they'd answer them straight away no matter how silly they may have been. I would recommend Nick and Kingsley to anyone who is in the market of importing a car. I will definitely be using them in the future. All the best guys! Blake
True to their word and quote, no hidden extras, easy & quick communication.
I would fully recommend the guys at shipmycar, having dealt with them on the importation of a 1960s Mercedes from America. They outline the process in simple terms, provide excellent value for money and did everything they said they would, throughout the 12 week process. It ended up costing me no more than if I had done everything myself, but with the added benefits of all forms being completed correctly and with the import duty all taken care of. 10/10, well done all!
I picked Shipmycar to ship my Mustang back from Florida because their transport costs were reasonable, they offered a door to door complete service and Nick and Kingsley seemed trustworthy and knowledgeable. I did feel the costs for conversion were high but had heard horror stories of bodged jobs and wanted the work done well. They would not negotiate on price and described what needed to be done as the price justification. I cannot fault he conversion, it was expertly and sympathetically done but not cheap. As for service, they went out of their way to organise pickup around my travels and made the importation a painless process. The only reason I did not award 5 stars was cost - some costs seem reasonable, others seem high. However if you want a top job done and good service I thoroughly recommend them.
Kingsley runs a very unique niche service. I initially shipped my mustang from the USA in a container and all went fine until I hit the UK complications of the tax office, IVA, modifications and 'red tape'. I found these gentlemen by chance and they took over and 'got it sorted' without fuss or complications at a reasonable price, The next vehicle I ship will be handled in its' entirety by them! I strongly recommend their great service. Alan J Coleman - A very satisfied customer
