Smas is a member of Safety Schemes in Procurement, SSIP and a CITB training provider. We are a H&S Assessment and training organisation that takes great pride in our professionalism, customer service and efficiency. Working with many of the major UK housebuilders we have developed experience and expertise in new build construction but we also deal with many other construction organisations.

Aug 30,2019As with all registration documents to complete they are preceded by a big sigh but on this occasion I was presently surprised with the support given by the assessors at SMAS. My first attempt showed up some deficiencies but with some guidance and support we were able to supply the correct information in the correct format which enabled us to obtain our SMAS certificate. 10 out of 10.

Aug 28,2019We submit over 350 applications annually and we find that the assessors at SMAS are on the whole very easy to deal with, if there any issues they are approachable which we find is an advantage over other assessment bodies. I can contact them prior to submitting an application if I have any concerns regarding the information I will need to provide for different trades, designers, architects, recruitment companies for example. Recently there has been an issue regarding our clients but hopefully that has all been cleared up and we shall continue to recommend SMAS as the most customer friendly of the SSIP provider. Another reason that our clients find SMAS so appelaing is the fee structure which in our opinion is most competetive

Aug 27,2019My experience with SMAS is that the Auditors are very efficient and fair. The auditors seek to assist and where possible give helpful advice to speed the accreditation process to the benefit of the client who wishes to become accredited. They are willing to work with companies to assist and advise,and over the years i have found them a very reliable organisation to deal with.

Aug 12,2019In a confusing world of accreditations for Health and Safety, SMAS lead the way in being accessible to all industries and always willing to help. So many SSIP accreditors will refuse to talk or explain things, essentially using a box-ticking exercise without any guidance, sometimes even asking for things that were not on the original questionnaire- or worse- asking for extra information that has been provided but not looked at properly. Every time I have got in touch with SMAS I have received nothing but a courteous, helpful response. SMAS want to work with their contractors- not against them. They want to help them pass. When any clients ask me SSIP to go for, I always recommend SMAS.

Aug 09,2019I had been putting off applying for an SSIP scheme for a while - as a small business I found it all quite daunting and wasn't sure we would be able to meet the required standards. I was really impressed with how easy it was to navigate the SMAS application using the online portal and all the staff were really helpful, in particular Pete, our assessor who contacted us for some clarification during the assessment process. Being a Scaffolding Association member was a bonus as it gave us a discount on the application fee. I'd definitely recommend SMAS to anyone looking to gain a health and safety accreditation

Aug 02,2019Undertaking Health & Safety Accreditation can be daunting for any business especially those in the SME sector. Whilst undertaking a pre-qualification questionnaire we found that we needed to be SMAS Accredited. With only a week to spare before the deadline for submission we made contact with the team at SMAS. the phone was answered instantly by a human being, no call waiting and no menu to have to navigate, oh what joy this was before we had even started. Once we had registered the portal is straightforward to navigate taking you though step by step. uploading documents is very easy and rather than some portals that dictate one document at a time the SMAS allows multiple files to be transmitted at once. this saves so much time and effort. Once we had completed the documentary and questions section we paid easily and then contacted the team via the help desk and they have put it on a fast track with the consultant team and we await the certificate to be returned withing 5 days. We would certainly recommend you using this service. it is "First Class".

Aug 01,2019I represent upwards of 50 Clients requiring H&S accreditation's in order to demonstrate their H&S performance and commitment. There are many different accreditation's available in order to achieve this, however I find that none are as "user friendly" for the applicant, or as efficient at their assessment process and communications with the applicant as the "SMAS Worksafe Scheme". My first recommendation to all of my clients is to achieve the SMAS accreditation above all others.

Jul 23,2019The whole process has been extremely painful due to SMAS bloody minded bureaucracy. SMAS clearly has no or little knowledge of our industry (Highway Electrical) or HERS and the Sector Scheme which regulates our Industry. The Clients of SMAS who use this organisation for there auditing of Highway Electrical suppliers and Contractors should instead look to HERS for reference and Competency of their intended Suppliers for Street Lighting and Highway Electrical services.

Sep 02,2019We deal with the majority of the third party health and safety related accreditation schemes in the UK. SMAS is not the most expensive and we do have many of our clients we put through this scheme. We find the fact that they do understand the relationship clients have with their consultants is a real bonus, and will talk to us with regards to assessment issues. The one thing they could improve upon is their inflexibility with regards to training. I would be happy to discuss this further if contacted.
