Dec 11,2023I'd been looking at the Guitar Fabric's kits for awhile and finally decided to bite on their Rickenbacker bass kit because it's not the time to be making sawdust in a cold, wet British rear yard. Ordered on a Tuesday, it was shipped from their France depot on Wednesday, and it arrived in my hands on Friday morning of the same week. That's pretty impressive. There was a little confusion over the import charges - I was notified by SMS from the carrier that charges needed to be paid on the order. That was before the team at GF had accessed their emails that day - GF wait for notification from the carrier/handler and then their accounts department pays any charges on your behalf if they've been assessed. I spoke to one of the GF team on phone and via email and it was resolved very quickly in a friendly manner - they stated that they know it's not the ideal way to deal with customs charges and they're looking into options. Really can't fault their service. The kit itself has a couple of concerns but I can resolve those as a fairly experienced builder. They're pretty much the same kits as Leo Jaymz, Pango and others, made in China but the essential core parts (body and neck) are well made with woods and construction that's way better than most of the stuff you'd find on eBay or Amazon, and decently prepped - the hardware and electronics are so-so, the machine heads are usable, the pickguard is pretty shoddily cut, but I'd already decided to ditch most of those parts so won't mark them down on that. The headstock is exactly the correct dimensions to shape yourself in a certain way, if you catch my drift... The kit comes with a detailed 14 page guide on finishing and assembly. It's probably not completely suited to a beginner but it's certainly useful as an aide-memoire. Overall, would definitely buy from Guitar Fabric again and would recommend them to others with a couple of minor caveats. Go in with your eyes open and you may be pleasantly surprised.

Dec 07,2023Die Lieferung erfolgte sehr pünktlich. Es ist ziemlich viel Kleber auf dem Körper, ich hoffe das ich diesen mit schleifen beseitigen kann. Das Ahornfunier muss auch noch glatt geschliffen werden. Hoffentlich ist es dick genug. Aber ich glaube das kriege ich hin. Wenn ich die E Gitarre (Les Paul Style) zusammen gebaut habe schreibe ich meine Erfahrungen.

The Guitar body top has no patterns as seen on demo photos. The Fretboard has several scratches on. I have not started to build, just curious what will be revealed..

Nov 21,2023Shipping was very fast. I did learn that shipping to an APO is not possible, but that was easily solved by rerouting to an APO shipper. Even with that necessary delay, it arrived in under 2 weeks. That's impressive! More impressive is the quality of this kit. The ash wood body has a satisfying weight to it with excellent routing. It is a 3 piece body, so staining is out of the question, but my plan is to paint anyway, so its perfect for my ambitions. The neck is straight and true with only one fret with a high spot. It took no time at all to do a proper fret leveling. The neck pocket is tight as a drum. The hardware is wired well with quality solder joints, 500K mini pots, and sturdy switches. My only criticism is two noticeable gouges on the volume and tone knob plate. It's not a big deal for a guy like me with plenty of "character marked" guitars, but it might bother some other customer. The instructions are thorough and packaging was great. Every wooden component was double packed in bubble wrap. I appreciated the paper wrapping around the tremolo and bridge. Sanding, sealing and painting will be a pleasure. I'll update the review when I have finish the build, but right now I'm very happy with this purchase.
