This website is horrible and needs to be completely redesigned. Customer service did answer my questions, but I should have been able to get around without having to ask questions and then wait for answers. It is doubtful that I will use TUW again until the website has been redesigned.

(October 2023) Great staff and service. Their platform needs some fine tuning. Not user-friendly, but I figured it out as i was progressing in the process. Would love to see a detailed invoice in my account too.

The company was recommended by AIA so I searched the platform for someone who could write a cookbook. I posted my project but got no response so hence the manual search. Only premium tier writers are qualified to write cookbooks so I chose 4 writers and asked them to write a sample introduction to my book of around 1,000 words. The first one was terrible, full of puns, typos and spelling mistakes. The others were okay but nothing special. I went with the writer who had the most experience in my genre. I provided her with a very detailed 61 page outline and gave specific instructions on using UK English, including measurements and names of ingredients. I got a message to say she had completed a chapter and added some recipes. When I saw what had been written I was shocked. It was terrible! There were so many things wrong with it that I didn’t know where to start. I messaged the writer and also emailed support. The writer was upset that I’d said her work was awful. But she hadn’t taken on board my requirements, the recipes were all in US cup measurements and she had used words like sheet pan, wholesome and other terms not commonly used in Britain. No way would I put my name to such rubbish. I read the introduction out loud and it didn’t flow well at all. I asked ChatGPT to come up with an introduction to a beginners cookbook and it sounded remarkably similar to the one written by the ghostwriter. Bearing in mind that I had paid for a premium service the writing was as far from premium quality as you could get. The company offered to help me find another writer but I had lost all confidence so asked for a refund. Unfortunately, although the writer produced poor quality work I still have to pay for what she’d produced so far. I’m now out of pocket by over £200 and back to square one. I do not recommend this company

This was my first experience with The Urban Writers and I was very happy. When I had any questions, they quickly answered them and showed me how to handle my issue. The writers and editors have been wonderful. I have two more projects going with them right now.

There's got to be better... I've been working with The Urban Writers for the first time since July. In their efforts to "help," they destroyed my first project! The writer I selected was a great writer but offered ZERO helpful content. The writer kept writing about offering helpful content but failed until I provided the actual content. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I thought a writer was not just supposed to write to make the content engaging, but then also deliver on the words written. Then, I "admin" stepped in and offered "help." Well, every time I let admin know to proceed, it takes several days before I hear from someone. DAYS, not hours! And sometimes I don't get a response at all. I've now wasted thousands of dollars and have zero to show for it. I can't get them to release MY content which I paid for already. It's not October... So, about three months in, I've spent about $3K and there's no content that I can access easily. You tell me. Does that seem like what you want to experience? Maybe I'm just the unlucky few who had a bad experience with TUW, but it won't happen again. Good luck to you! There's got to be better!

I've had nothing but irritation with this platform. Firstly, the website is slow as molasses - every button click and every web page takes at least 10 seconds to process. It is one of the slowest websites on the internet in 2023. Second, they don't even have an attachment button, so I cannot share outlines and documents with a potential writer as I'm interviewing them for the job. Third, they don't allow communicating with the writer outside the platform, so they spy on each message you write, and write you annoying warning emails telling you that you violated their terms. But TUW doesn't even have a video option, so it is impossible to fully vet the writer. Lastly, they don't allow the writers to share their previous work with you, so you have no way of knowing how much experience the writer actually had. Overall, TUW is overpriced, you'd be better off going with UpWork - which doesn't have any of the drawbacks I mentioned above.

TUW has good writers. I ordered 2 outlines from TUW, and one from another company. All outlines were the same topic. Outlines from TUW were 13 pages long, and 62 pages from the other company. The fee from the other company was significantly more than TUW's ... until TUW asked for writer's gratuity ($$$). Then the prices were almost the same. I prefer companies that give me the full budget up front, instead of surprising me with a request for gratuity (tip) after the project is finished. I will limit how often I use TUW.

Found a really good ghostwriter for my book & then an editor to edit & proofread it for me. Both highly professional, & excellent at attention to concept & detail. Would highly recommend using this Company. I'll definitely be using them again.

I used two writers and the quality of content was inferior and repetitive. They both missed the tone. This took a lot of my time. The editor had to correct multiple issues and brought the tone to where it needed to be. Shame on the writers. Editor was stellar. This is my first book so did not know what to expect with cover. Designer did a great job and was communicative. I will use TUW again but will be more cautious on selections.
