The tutor my children have been matched with is amazing. She doesn't balk when they're being kids and has quickly learned how to get them out of grumpy, tired moods. She always finds ways to get them engaged and excited about the lessons and pays attention to what they like so she can incorporate it. I couldn't have asked for a better person to teach my young children Spanish.

Tried it for a month and will be cancelling membership. Too difficult to work with them. Difficult to get answers via phone, and text support is inconsistent.... failing to answer in a timely manner when assistance is needed, other times too many texts that are bothersome. One tutor we had (William) was excellent and communicative. The other one (Daniela) was terrible... cancelled 43 min before the scheduled session and did not have the courtesy to reach out to explain, apologize or try to reschedule. Not a word from her. Then I had to chase after Varsity Tutors, no response to my texts at all, so finally reached someone via phone who was finally able to help. I also had to chase after them to get information/specifics on cancelling my membership. A huge waste of my time, and I don't have time nor patience for this type of runaround.
So polite and helpful! They always follow up for any problems you have and make sure to settle you in comfortably for your personal goals. The nicest and most supportive staff ever, I felt very comfortable talking to everyone as I went through the process to sign up. They’re very organized and professional, and are punctual when setting up times to call
Be VERY careful with Varsity tutors. Their new plans are ALL auto renew, and company aren't transparent about this. We used them a couple of years ago, and they had plan that you can you buy bulk hours, and used it within a year, not anymore. When my son purchased 4 hrs (he did not need more), I ended up paying for the initial 4 hrs, and then same amount ($259) was charged again the next month...even though he uses 1 hours of 4 hrs during that month. I tried to fight to get refund, and got denied!. The only thing I was offered is extend to another 3-4 months to use the hours. BE VERY CAREFUL on AUTO RENEW, and hours either use or lose within the month! Another issue is their tutors. One tutor they found keeps canceling/rescheduling , even my son specifically said hours he is available...Then Varsity tutor found somebody else, but that tutor never replied back. Check BBB as they have official complaints against them on the same issues. Recommend to go with "Wyzant tutoring "instead, at least you can chose your own tutor, and purchase hours as needed.
Their customer service is horrible. It's all this automated chat bots, 15 texts and emails, no one answers their phones. If you need to reschedule a session it's a nightmare. Go to you account to cancel, no option even. Stay far away from Varsity Tutors waste of time.
While working with her Varsity Tutor, John, my daughter has mastered math concepts she’s been unable to master while working in the classroom. John’s 1:1 support, approach, use of prompts, questioning to gauge understanding, and positive reinforcement has not only encouraged her development, but amazingly, she’s enjoying the process. My daughter looks forward to her time spent with John, which is a welcome surprise for me. John has made learning fun again. And for that, I cannot thank him enough.
Do not use this company. Charge you multiple months when they tell you that it's month by month and you're not committed to anything then another $500 gets taken out of your account every month. What a waste
This company is a BIG SCAM. The only good thing I have to say is my son's tutor Evan is truly fantastic but dealing with Varisty itself has been a nightmare. This is the second time now where I got overcharged.They also had took away my son's tutor without our knowledge and gave us another one who is not even for his grade level. When we tried to call into the customer service line to try to find out what had happened they were totally useless and not willing to help. They told us that they didn't make any changes to my son's tutor but clearly someone did. Even the tutor didn't know what was going on. Now we have come to find out wthis month we were charged almost triple our payment because they say the new tutor we were assigned to said we did not show up to any sessions however we didn't even agree / confirm or accept the sessions as we didn't request the changes and didnt want this new tutor. We have spent so much time on the phone with Varsity and still they have not resolved the issue or refunded our money back. All they keep saying is someone will call you back. Please do yourself the favor and stay away!!!

This company is a scam! Do not sign up for tutoring with them. My daughter completed one session and then was able to get what she needed through her school. I was told that I would get hours refunded that were not used at the time I spoke with the recruiter. Kim the customer service representative is one of the most deceiving and rude individuals I have ever spoken with. Look elsewhere for your tutoring needs

I was a tutor on Varsity Tutors. I asked if there is a salary increase a couple of weeks ago as the pay is very low compared to other platforms, but I seemed to get really nice students through it so I kept going. Then I got an email that my contract has been terminated without any reason. I asked the support chat and they told me that there is no note for bad behaviour or anything attached to my profile and that my rating is still 5/5 with great feedback from students. They can't explain to me why they chose not to continue with me and although I asked for clarification, none was given. It is very disappointing for my students as they were looking to continue studying with me, one of them getting ready for an important assessment and Varsity doesn't care about it. Not sure if I was sacked for asking about a pay rise, the reviews from students were great and I've never missed a class or cancelled last minute, so I have no idea why they decided not to go ahead with working together. For that alone and poor explanation I have to give them a 1 star for poor customer service on the Tutors side.

Edited review after being contacted by someone on the team and problems have since been resolved. I initially posted a review in regards to connectivity issues we were experiencing with the facilitators. I was contacted and informed that they had reached out to the facilitators and stated the problems had been corrected. I was able to confirm that the last two sessions happened without interruption. I really appreciated the quick response from the team.
