1. Less than honest regarding billing options. 2. ILLEGALLY billed me over $6000 after we were done. Had to spend several hours on the phone fighting to get the money back. 3. Got the money back, but they are STILL deducting from my account illegally. 4. Had to spend several hours with the bank completing a fraud claim, blocking them on my account, getting a new debit card, transferring autopays for other accounts. 5. Paid for 8 sessions (agreed upon) but daughter could not get matched with a math tutor for ACT prep. Did not get all the sessions. Refused to roll them over. 6. Tutor was just “OK.” Read problems with my daughter out of a book or activity. Had her answer them. Gave her the correct answer if she missed it. Explained. Same thing my daughter got with her ACT prep book. Less than impressed. EDIT: The reason you don’t recognize MY NAME is because you entered into the illegal “contract” with my MINOR daughter. Thankfully my husband is an attorney and walked me through this. Otherwise, I seriously doubt your company would have willingly given me our money back based on your initial response on the phone.
Kim Tribble helped us the first time around when we had issues with our tutor. It looks as though she's no longer there as her email has bounced back. What is really frustrating, is I have emailed AND called asking to speak with a rep from the customer service department and they refuse to give me the information or pass me on. No, I don't want to speak to the average person who can't refund me money and who won't look up the history etc. My time is precious I don't want to keep dealing with people who say one thing and don't stick to their word... Our first tutor had a legitimate mental breakdown, harassing us and terrifying our daughter. Our second tutor ended up in the hospital, went MIA and we couldn't figure out what happened for weeks. Our third tutor refused to communicate with us, dragging on planning sessions and we eventually had to look for another tutor. Our last tutor seemed to have a significant cognitive decline over the course of time with him. He couldn't even answer the simple recall questions for the paragraph they just read together. He constantly told my autistic daughter to smile and told my daughter to fix her handwriting otherwise he would have to mark her zero.... If you have experience teaching the neurodivergent mind you would know not to say things like that. They keep telling us this "isn't" the varsity way," but we've been through several tutors that have all been awful. I've got to ask, what is the varsity way? Because all we've experienced is crap and I've spent sooooo much money for nothing. Stay far away, do not sign a contract, find something more suitable for your child's learning.
Our son has built so much confidence in math but above all, in himself and that to me means so much. Our tutor lifts him and makes him feel so happy to join to learn and make himself better.
My son loved his sessions , and as a child with dyslexia he was matched with an excellent teacher .
My experiences with them were superb. I find their communication is extremely proactive and well communicated. Customer services always gave very good details and extra helpful tips for engaging with 1 on 1 tutor and group classes. I think this program is great for home schoolers to have a chance engage with group of students and fun learning experiences.
The tutor that you matched my daughter with to help with her chemistry has been working out great. She has a unique ability to explain complex concepts in a way that’s both clear and understandable. My daughter feels more confident and engaged in the subject. Highly recommend!
Varsity Tutors matched us with a great tutor! We were worried about tutoring online for our 8 year old, but Varsity Tutors made it easy to get started and helped to place us with a tutor that has worked out wonderfully for our child. Our 8 year old looks forward to the tutoring sessions, and I have watched our tutor get to know our child and our needs and create a fun, engaging session each week. We have seen positive improvement in our child and appreciate the fact that there are other benefits with our varsity tutors account, such as group classes and assignment help!
Valerie is a good teacher. She responded quickly. She is helping my daughter we are so happy w her.
Jazmin Reyes made it great. She is an excellent tutor. I am so glad I called Varsity Tutors and the connected me with Jazmin. Thank you
My daughter found her first tutoring today very helpful. She also the mentioned that on one of the math problems she was having a hard time with the tutor was able to catch that my daughter was just hitting a wrong key! Yeah. Going to be a great help. She is scheduled for each Monday at 8 am. Thank you.
What a headache of a company. SO CORPORATE! When they text you it feels like you are talking to AI and then you find out that it is a real person. They claim to work hard to connect you with the perfect tutor and then when we finally got assigned the tutor thought my son was in college and completely misunderstood what we were looking for. Disorganized, extremely corporate. I'm trying to use up our remaining sessions so I can get away fast.
The company is very helpful and ensures to assist with moving at the student’s pace. The supporting team also ensure that all needs are met which is essential for this journey.
**Varsity Tutors Review: Misleading and Poor Service** I had an extremely disappointing experience with Varsity Tutors. From the start, they were misleading with the information they provided. They promised a lot of services and benefits, but once I read the fine print, I realized there were additional charges that weren't initially disclosed. It felt like a bait-and-switch situation, and I wish I had been more cautious. One of the biggest issues was the tutoring itself. They assured me that my kids would be paired with suitable tutors, but that wasn’t the case. The tutors they matched us with weren’t relatable, and some didn’t communicate well or at all. It took them a long time to match my kids with a tutor, and after that, we had to wait even longer for another tutor when the first one didn’t work out. The final straw was when they paired my Canadian kids with American tutors, despite their promise that they would match them with Canadian tutors familiar with the Canadian curriculum. This was a huge letdown and made me feel like they weren’t listening to our needs at all. After giving it multiple chances, I decided to cancel the service altogether. Unfortunately, even canceling has been a nightmare. It’s been two weeks, and I’m still struggling to get a refund. They keep telling me it will take 24-48 hours to review, but after 48 hours, nothing happens, and I find myself calling over and over again to try to resolve the issue. In conclusion, I would not recommend Varsity Tutors to anyone. Their service is misleading, the tutors are not well-matched, and the customer service is frustratingly slow. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for tutoring services.
Payed over $500 for a months worth of tutoring. They got her a tutor late and she didn’t have enough time left in the month to use her hours. Then the tutor went over the allotted “hour” twice, and we were billed an additional $53. There customer support just told us it was our fault. I don’t understand how they have such good reviews…
Our tutor is excellent! She is kind, organized, and attuned to our child's needs.
I wasn't sure where to turn when I was looking for a Speaking coach- so like most I just googled it First thing that popped up was Varsity Tutors. My experience with my tutor has been phenomenal and improving my speaking skills and strategies weekly.
Excellent platform for learning

I was promised 2 hrs of tutor time and only received 1. That is after several emails and texts trying to get the 2nd hour
