I make it a point to shoe up for classes that I enroll in so I would appreciate if the instructors did the same. Maybe you can be more selective getting instructors.I received a phone call from Varsity and they told me that they would take my review back and address it.

Jan 17,2025From the time I first contacted Varsity Tutors (Dec. 10, 2025) until the first actual contact with a “tutor” (Jan. 15, 2025), this “service” has been nothing but frustration. They “sincerely apologized for the inconvenience caused” when alleged tutors failed to show up for sessions on numerous occasions, but when I asked them to simply cancel my account and return my money their response was, “I can certainly help with a request such as a tutor placement or scheduling update, however I am unable to process a cancellation via SMS. You can pause or change your membership online; to cancel, you will be required to call us at 888-888-0446.” That number, by the way, is always busy and no one answered to cancel my account. They claim they have tutors for every request which is nonsense, but they refuse to be honest enough to simply say, “sorry, we can’t help you with your specific request,” and give your money back when they can’t fill a request. When I took the time to supply them with a very detailed description of my needs, someone on their end changed my request to a bunch of general garbage that led a very unqualified “tutor” to think he could help me. After the tutor, who didn’t have a clue about my problem, lead me to fumbling around with my computer until the thing locked up, forcing me to pull the plug out of the wall, bells began going off in my feeble head telling me to just swallow my fee for this rip-off and never use Varsity Tutors again.

While the actual tutoring quality is not in question, the pricing structure and business model raise significant concerns. Key issues: Charged $276 monthly for a package including unwanted and unused services Actual tutoring received: 3 hours (one session canceled) Effective hourly rate: $184/hour ($552 total for 3 hours) No proration or refund offered despite canceling shortly after renewal Sales tactics pressured an immediate commitment without clearly presenting alternatives The lack of transparent pricing and rigid refund policies are particularly problematic. Although marketed as a comprehensive educational service, the inability to customize the package to specific needs - in this case, solely tutoring - results in clients paying substantial premiums for unused features.

Jan 14,2025Varsity Tutors has been a disaster. We can't get a tutor to show up, and they want to keep giving us credit for no-show tutors. My son and I show up for the rescheduled sessions, and still no tutor. This has been going on for weeks. We want to request a refund, but no one answers the phone, and online communication doesn't help. They charged me $248 today, yet we have received no service. We are extremely frustrated and just want our hard-earned money back. The reality of the situation is that we may never get that money back, despite trying to invest it in our child's education.

Jan 14,2025They had a very different program before. Then, they automatically enroll you for an expensive subscription membership. Tutors are subpar. The worst thing is that you cannot cancel. Cannot at all. They will keep taking around $330-500 per month, and you are stuck. If you go on their online chat, they claim the only way to cancel is by calling a number they provide, but they will put you on hold and never pick up, no matter how many days you call.
