Dec 24,2023Man bekommt Unterstützung bei den vielen Fragen, die im Laufe dieses Prozesses auftreten. Bei mir hat es mit der Beantragung einer SSN angefangen, die ich nun im zweiten Anlauf im Konsulat beantragen konnte und mittlerweile auch erhalten habe. Meine Empfehlung, aus Erfahrung vor Ort, soweit möglich, alle Unterlagen von Geburt bis jetzt mitzunehmen. Auch im zweiten Schritt, der Darlegung der letzten sechs Jahre und der Steuererklärung der letzten drei Jahre werden einem Tools zur Verfügung gestellt und bei Nachfragen wird einem telefonisch oder per Mail weitergeholfen. Hoffe, es geht nun auch bei der Einreichung der Erklärungen so weiter.

Dec 01,2023To be honest, I was disappointed. I found their website, and they have a very convincing story of why they should help you get in touch with an advisor. However: * I believe their podcast contains wrong information, which scares people into contacting them more. * When contacted they said that they don't have consultants that can help me with matters that touch both US and NL taxes at once. And the person they introduced is not available for the next 5 weeks at least.

Nov 24,2023Als ich durch ein Schreiben der Bank erfahren habe, dass ich als accidental American in den USA steuerpflichtig bin, bin ich zunächst ein wenig in Panik geraten. Die streamlined procedure erscheint erstmal kaum zu bewältigen, aber dank der kompetenten Beratung und jeder Menge bereit gestellter Information durch Frau Lindner von AmericansOverseas hat die Sorge ein wenig abgenommen. Nach dem ersten ausführlichen Gespräch, bei dem ich alle Fragen stellen konnte, bekam ich eine Kostenübersicht. Natürlich ist der Service nicht kostenlos, aber ohne Unterstützung ist das nicht zu schaffen, insbesondere wenn man bedenkt, mit welch harschen Strafen gedroht wird, wenn man die Unterlagen nicht korrekt ausfüllt.
