This was my first time ordering from Darwin’s. I was super excited but when I received my package every pack in the box was bloody and opened. So bad that the outside of the shipping box was wrapped in layers of plastic. The free tote that came with my order was drenched in blood. The quality of the meat was not good at all. The meat was already thawed out…it was just a nightmare all around. Extremely disappointing. Never again.
I was skeptical about this product because my dog is very complicated when it comes to food, I have always cooked her or give her raw, but she did not eat any type of vegetables. But she loved this product. I cooked chicken and turkey because I'm afraid of salmonella, but the meat is eaten raw. she loves it ......her stool is perfect and odorless. I 100% recommended
I think their food is excellent! I have been feeding my 2 dogs raw for a few years, and this is a very convenient way to make sure they always have food! It can be a little pricey, but I think you really get what you pay for. I have seen the improvements in my dogs' fur and teeth with raw. I appreciate how transparent this company is with their sourcing.
With great anticipation, I received my first order last week. I unpacked it immediately upon arrival. It arrived in a cooler, a thawed and bloody mess. I immediately transferred it to bags and placed it in the refrigerator after leaving a bloody trail across the floor. By the next morning, my refrigerator smelled of rotten meat. Every bit of it needed to be thrown away. I called customer service to cancel my order and even after explaining the condition of my order was not offered a refund. So, I wrote to customer service and again, was offered nothing. Poor customer service. Spoiled product.
Im a big advocate for raw dog food and thought I’d give this company a try based off recommendations. Unfortunately, the company and quality itself didn’t meet those expectations. My first issue is that the company itself doesn’t display the ingredient panel online which would have been a huge deciding factor for me. After reading their website I noticed that they offered your first purchase for $14 and you could cancel reorders at any time. I liked the brief info they had and recommendations I got so I figured I’d try it. If I didn’t like the food I’d give it away or toss it. Simple as that. Upon receiving it some of the ingredients aren’t to par with B.A.R.F and or Prey Model. Which was unfortunate because it meant I wasn’t going to continue with this company. Why? Well I have worked with animals for some time and still do for a living. As a certified animal nutritionist with other credentials as well this food isn’t something I’d support for my dog or clients of my own. Some other concerns that raised other than ingredients were: Shipping, and customer service (communication). After reading reviews I began to realize I wasn’t the only one experiencing this. I received no update as to when my order would be delivered or when it was already shipped from their facility. Unfortunately, the products came on a day I wasn’t home but luckily someone else was there at the time. I took this as poor communication skills within the business. After figuring out the company didn’t meet my expectations of quality food or services I decided to cancel with them. It was unfortunate that wasn’t honored. A month later I get a $125 bill for food that I didn’t authorize. I contacted the company but didn’t hear anything back for some time. I reached out on multiple occurrences. When I finally got a response I was informed from customer service that “we contacted you in advance before processing the new order”. I can attest to that not being accurate. As my emails and call log have nothing from the company. Not only that my account shows a transaction process date as of 7/9 . That same day I was charged and same day received an (unauthorized) delivery. As this was a mistake on their end I figured returning the food would be simple and followed by a refund. I was then informed that a refund wouldn’t be processed unless I donated the food. That seemed simple and wasn’t an issue for me. I asked if they knew of any places who would take raw food as a donation and provide a receipt (as the recipes is needed for proof). The closest location the customer service representative gave me was 3hrs and 45 minutes away from my home. I asked if anything else could be done because that wasn’t feasible. The response was that “nothing further could be done”. My experience wasn’t the easiest or even slightly pleasant. I had to follow up with canceling my card for my safety and worry that they’d continue to take money from me. It’s unfortunate to say this company has some communication issues and or possibly something further behind the scenes. Update: I received an email from customer service that “they’re only a reoccurring service”. This seemed very odd to me and the tone in the message wasn’t acceptable in my viewpoint. It’s unfortunate to say they don’t honor their claim on their site, “you can cancel at any time”. Be careful!
I had great experiences with this company. Unfortunately my dog did not like the food. I followed all tips to get her to eat but no go. All customer service contact was awesome. Only thing is if you are trying to cancel shipment use the website not App since it only cancels one item at a time.
I have a Silver Bengal who is two years old. After numerous visits to the vet and thousands of dollars on medicine to help with his explosive diarrhea NOTHING worked! I was in tears and I knew he was uncomfortable. After reading numerous posts from other Bengal cat owners they suggested trying a raw diet. So as a last resort I gave Darwin’s a try…. By the second day he had his first solid stool since he was 12 weeks old. He has been eating Darwin’s for a few months now with no problems! Thank you Darwin’s for saving us both. 😁
I have been feeding my home made meals since day I got him and he was very excited. I got Darwin’s to cook that meat as I don’t trust raw. But my dog wouldn’t even eat this meat after cooking it. It does say a lot about brand.
Darwin’s quality has dropped due to shipping changes. To cut cost they no longer use sturdy boxes. Our delivery that used to come in two boxes is now jammed into one box. This results in less dry ice being used as well as a much heavier box that gets destroyed by UPS. The last several orders have come unfrozen. Today’s order had mostly melted food and a broken package so there is cat food all over the other packages.
Our now 11 year old Whippet is eating a pack of Darwin's with regular hamburger meat daily (1/2 pack in the morning with an egg and half pack with just meat in the evening). We switched to Darwin's because we wanted him off kibble all together - he always got the meat but mixed with no-grain, non-GMO, high end kibble. The first thing we noticed was he wasn't as gassy!! Happy Dance! He was extremely gassy on kibble - all day long and now it's rare. The next thing we noticed was his coat got thicker and softer. It's been almost a year now and we are very happy - as is he!
I transitioned my male cat to Darwin's after he developed "idiopathic FLUTD" and my vet could not help me except by offering drugs with astonishing side effects (including diabetes and kidney failure). After many hours & days of research, I found Darwin's. Though I had to coax my boy to try raw meat, once he fell in love there was no turning back. All his previous symptoms are gone, his energy has quadrupled, and he has the shiniest, glossiest black coat you've ever seen. I would recommend Darwin's to absolutely anyone who cares to give their animal companions the healthy and happy life they deserve.
I have been feeding my 7 yo cat raw from the very beginning. He had never been thrilled with any of the frozen raw food I had been feeding him. I called it he eats to live. Same with our 1 yo kitten we added to the family last year. She also would eat to live. Ever since I started giving them Darwin’s, they now LOVE to eat! They pretty much eat all the food I give them, leaving a little bit that is then gone within a short period of time. I am SO glad I found this food! And it makes me feel really good how the food is processed. Plus, it looks like true raw meat, unlike the last frozen raw I was feeding them. I HIGHLY recommend this company and their food! Additional info...I turned my sister on to Darwin’s for her 2 picky eaters, and they IMMEDIATELY loved it! Thank you Darwin’s for making GOOD, HEALTHY food for my cats!
My 7 year old GSD/collie mix had been on Merrick for about 4 years. I never gave much thought to what he was eating, I just trusted what the people at Petco/vet told me to feed him. After dealing with multiple vet visits for dry skin, bad breath, hotspots, lack of energy, and constant licking, I started to learn more about what’s actually in kibble and what is the best food for my dog. My dog is my absolute best friend, so I didn’t care how much I had to spend on him, I just wanted him to be happy and healthy. SO, I switched him first to Farmina, added omega 3, probiotic, and vitamins along with the dry/wet food. I kept his treats to unprocessed items- mainly freeze dried meat from boutique pet stores. I added goats milk and eggs a few times a week. He improved within the first few weeks and he started to have better skin and seemed happier- playing so much more and acting like a puppy. I was so happy with his progress, but I knew raw food was the absolute best for him (His vet told me to put him on purina and avoid raw- but no thanks). Fast forward 1 month into having Max on a mixed diet of Farmina and Darwin’s and WOW. Max acts like a puppy. He plays, runs, and loves so much more than he used to. His coat is absolutely beautiful and soft, his breath no longer smells, and he’s just so incredibly excited to eat his food. His poop is sometimes soft but he goes only 1 time a day now instead of 2/3 times while he was on merrick. That food just went right through him. No wonder he was lacking so many nutrients! Max has so much more drive during our training sessions and he’s truly transformed. I have to give the credit to switching his food, as nothing else in his life has changed. So thankful for Darwin’s!!!
I tried their introductory order. It worked out but I had read something about having to pay extra if you order less than 20#. So I contacted customer service and asked how much shipping would be for my smaller 10# order. I don’t have space in my freezer for 20#. Customer Service replied that I had free shipping. So on my first order after the introductory I look at the invoice and in the shipping field is a $10 charge. I contacted them and they told me it wasn't a shipping charge if it was a less than 20# minimum charge. But it is in the shipping field on the invoice. When I asked about the additional shipping charge for small orders they should have explained that there was an additional fee. They did not. They would not refund. Update: they did refund after seeing this.
Good job, thank's!
So I am completely speechless about the results after only 4 days using Darwin's foods. Our 9-year-old lab had been suffering from terrible arthritis for the last 6 months This affected everything, we live on a hill and have lots of steps and the weekly ritual of going to the beach at the weekends meant after 10 minutes he was limping in pain. We were feeding him the top-of-the-line (supposedly) kibble. After only 4 days we went to the beach as we had noticed a considerable improvement already. He ran for an hour with virtually no pain or stiffness. When we got home he leaped up the stairs as he did when we rescued him. We were suspicious that may we were reading too much into the change of food, but the improvement after one week is, to say the least remarkable. The way Darwin services and delivers makes things very easy and after doing a cost analysis we are only paying around $50 more a month for an exceptional product. The cost is negligible compared to the happiness that has been restored in our house seeing Gunner being able to move in the way he loves. Just wish I had taken the plunge sooner.
Website is not helpful at all! I want to see what I’m buying, the same generic photo of all your products is not helpful. Should be simple. Click on a product and a photo of THAT product should come up right?? Same for the intro offer, a photo should appear so that I’m can see what I’m getting. Evidently the intro & subsequent recurring orders are very different in size. 2 lbsvs10 lbs. So lay that all out in website please. Ended up calling CS waited 10 min. she explained how the package comes. Will try the intro offer see how my cat does.
Some things just don't add up including the weight. That being said my cats love it and have gotten shinny and very soft fur.
I dunno. My dogs would not eat it I cooked and tried the food myself and it tasted terrible, like cupboard, so no wonder... Canceled my subscription

Sep 03,2021Our dog Charlie is family. I would buy very expensive dry dog food thinking I was making the best choice but Charlie continued to have severe skin issues which we spent a lot of money trying to get it under control. Then I saw a special about raw dog food and thought I would try it. I started with a different brand which did not impress me but I did notice Charlie's skin issues started to clear up slowly. He was on that brand about a year and even though the skin issues were clearing up it just seemed that it wasn't what I expected. I guess I was looking for a miracle. I believed the raw diet was better for him but decided to do more research and found Darwin's. Everything I read about Darwin's sounded good so I switched. Charlie is almost 100 lbs and over 10 years old. After about 2 months on Darwin's Bio line he had NO skin issues whatsoever and runs around like he's a puppy. I have been feeding Charlie Darwin's Raw Diet now for over 2 years and it is amazing Charlie only goes to the Vets for his normal routine visits and shots.
