We never thought we would be *those* pet parents talking endlessly about the importance of a fancy raw food for our cats but here we are! We started our journey with Darwin's in January 2020 because we adopted a kitten with an extremely sensitive tummy. She couldn't have ANY dry food and was solely eating Small Batch's raw patties which are annoyingly expensive. We chose Darwin's because it was the best of both worlds, raw and cheaper than the alternatives! We started our sensitive kitten on it and decided to let our senior cat try it too because he was in overall poor health (incontinent, severe arthritis, greasy matted coat, low energy, vomiting, you name it he had it) and refused to anything other than Friskie's Seafood Pate. Darwin's website says you will see effects in as little as 30 days.Let me tell you. It took a week at the most before our senior cat was a completely different cat. He's 15 and we were thinking he wouldn't be alive by the end of the year. We were on the fence about putting him down in February. DARWIN'S LITERALLY SAVED HIS LIFE. We considered it a miracle that he would even eat it, given his years old game of refusing all healthier alternatives to Friskies. His vomiting stopped abruptly, he suddenly had the energy of a kitten and started playing with his adopted kitten siblings, he has no GI issues anymore. Our close friends don't even recognize him. He looks like a brand new cat. Our sensitive kitten is also thriving. Her gingivitis is now manageable with tooth brushing and all her GI symptoms are gone. We are fully committed to feeding our cats raw food for the rest of their lives. We're actually looking into Darwin's prescription kidney diet for our senior man too, as a preventative measure. We're never going back to the land of dry food and Friskie's.

We're only a day in, so I can't speak to the health benefits yet. However, my picky, chubby Yorkie cleaned his plate, even when the food was ice cold. Feeding my pupster recently has been a chore, with lil man deciding to skip meals or eating anything but his dog food. So far, Darwin's has been a game-changer. THANK YOU.

I’ve been a raw food feeder for quite a few years and heard great things about Darwin’s. I decided to give them a try since I was having difficulty finding a variety of lean protein for my pups-now, I wish I hadn’t. I asked (via email before placing my intro order )if I could substitute the suggested protein from beef/turkey, to something lean. The email response came about a week later and I was told by Darwin’s CS rep, that yes, I could sub, but at an additional cost. She stated that I could place the order then “let her know” and she would make the switch before shipping. I did as instructed and let Her know immediately, via email, since there was no instructions that it would be an issue. Again, no answer for another week. In the meantime, I received the order of unwanted beef and turkey. When I did receive an email back from Darwin’s CS rep, she apologized and said she could still send out an order of the agreed lean protein if I would still like it. I was hesitant.I found that in comparison, the raw I was already feeding was better, but I really wanted to see if the leaner options could work-so I agreed. She processed a charge for the order and stated I would receive it the next day 10/23. It is 11/1 and I still haven’t received the order. I also have not received a response back from Darwins in regards to being charged for literally 0 product. I have an email with a ups tracking number showing progress updated to “ready to ship” on 10/22 and no answer/help at all from Darwin’s or any other rep from their “contact us” links. Unfortunately, this level of customer care is a complete dealbreaker for me. The decision to feed raw is an important one, that I take very seriously. If I am trusting someone else to assist in that process, I want to know with 100% certainty, that they take my pets health and well-being seriously as well. This experience, for me, definitely didn’t meet that expectation.

My cat wouldn’t even eat his top quality wet food. He would only eat dry food and I was worried about the carb content affecting his teeth and GI. I just put out the raw food for him and he is avoiding his dry food completely and is chowing down on the raw food. He usually doesn’t even like turkey but he completely loves it. I’m so happy I have something for my 6 month old kitten!

We started giving Darwin’s to our Boston after we found out she had cancer, we are positive it extended her life! Her coat was extra shiny and her energy levels were high, even to the end. We now feed Darwin’s to our née Boston Terrier puppy and she couldn’t be happier! Scarfs it up faster than we can put to down. We love Darwin’s!

My husband and I decided to finally get serious about our diet. We cut out ALL processed and canned foods, sugar, alcohol, “bad” carbs- sticking only to REAL food. Both of us lost a lot of weight and feel great. This got me thinking about our dogs. I, like most people, were brought up feeding all our dogs and cats store bought kibble. It never entered my mind to think otherwise. I even worked in a pet store for over 20 years lecturing to my customers about the latest high end “grain free” dog and cat foods, and teaching them how to read labels properly. I sold a lot of pet food, because I believed it myself. A light bulb went off in my head one night looking at the kibble I was pouring into our dogs’ bowls. YUCK! We’ve now been feeding Darwin’s Raw food for years. Our dogs are doing great! Shiny coats, lots of energy (even the seniors) - even their breath no longer stinks. And They SO look forward to dinner now - on kibble they’d take it or leave it. An absolute sure sign you are feeding your dogs well is....uhmm..well, truthfully...look at their poop! Gross I know, but a very important point. We have 3 dogs and you’d never know it by looking in our yard. Their stool is very small and very firm. Super easy to clean up, and, I know this is hard to believe, but it doesn’t stink! A neighbors dog pooped in our yard the other day and omg ! It was huge and just disgusting. It was literally impossible to pick up - i ended up having to hose it down. Sorry, I know this is gross to talk about but I believe the lack of filler is evident with feeding Darwin’s . We are struggling financially because of Covid - but no matter what, I’ll NEVER go back to feeding kibble. I really can’t say enough good things about Darwin’s.

I have been a customer of Darwin's for over 10 years. I usually do not have a problem with the product. This complaint is about the business and their customer service. Darwin's recently built a new website and in the transition they dropped me from their customer database. Consequently I did not receive my order that was to be shipped on 9/24/2020. I called several times (my position in the que was always 17), so I left a phone message for a call-back and the representative phoned me at 6:40 in the morning - a time when my phone was turned off. I then phoned back and decided to wait on hold. I have now been on hold for an hour and have only moved up to position 3. The worst is that I have had to listen to the same marketing messages for the whole hour with no way to turn this off. I don't need to listen to marketing messages delivered by a bunch of "old" sounding ladies who really have no heart associated in the reading of the scripts. This customer service portal should be fired - totally the wrong approach for today's pet savvy parents. My career was designing customer service programs, so I know what proper CS is. I would have never, ever left a customer on hold for an hour!

I inadvertently added one dog I did not want to add. But the Website has nowhere for me to edit that data so I can remove that dog. I stopped there and bought raw dog food from someone else.

I have been a happy Darwin's customer for several years and I find that I am continually blown away, not only by the quality of the food, but also the wonderful customer service. Every person I interact with, whether by phone or email, is delightful, responsive and a pleasure to work with. As if that weren't enough, the generosity and intentionality of the owner, Gary Tashjian, is heartwarming and inspiring, as he supports Summit Assistance Dogs, an organization the helps train and place assistance dogs for individuals with special needs. We are in challenging times, and Darwin's is a company making a positive difference in the lives of our pets and our human community who loves them. Keep up the great work, and special thank you to Carlie and Shirley King - wonderful customer service folks.

Very frustrated with thawed-out meals in shipments. I canceled my subscription after numerous pleas for dry ice with shipments to no avail. The owner, Gary Tashjian offered me.a free shipment. This was my reply: Mr. Tashjian- During my patronage from 10/*2018-6/2020 (*previously thought 2017), only my first two shipments came with dry ice; from then on, I was told that Darwin’s will only ship with ice in the hot summer months to Oregon. This was the second summer without ice. I’ve sent videos of semi-thawed AND completely thawed out meals, and pleaded for ice to be included with shipments during hot summer months as it gets in the 90’s where I live; and most of the times, I don’t get home until 3-4 hours after deliveries. Still, no ice after the third plea! The practice of shipping without ice started long before the “dry ice shortage”. And I know that I wasn’t the only unhappy customer receiving thawed out meals - I saw some terrible reviews [on Google] about the same issue after I emailed you. You stated “it may appear that we didn’t add dry ice, as our aim is to have the ice be completely sublimated by the time the box is opened”; if dry ice were shipped, there would be proof of the small plastic bag that the ice comes in, AND there wouldn’t be any thawed out meals. I feel that you put profits before safety; otherwise, you would pass on the savings of shipments without ice to customers who you deemed ice is unnecessary for their orders. The safety of my beloved pet is utmost important; therefore, I am declining your offer for a free shipment because my issue will not be resolved - you will continue to ship without ice - not just to me, but to a lot of other customers - as long as this practice continues to boost your profits.

Didn’t even get through one pouch of this stuff. Tried to transition over 4 days and my dog was vomiting and having diarrhea all over the apartment for 4 days. Poor thing. Oddly enough, I was cooking the raw food for her. Seven months later got a response asking to return????? I’m sorry I didn’t keep the product on hand for 7 months but I did file a report with the FDA on how sick my dog became. Thanks anyway.

I love Darwin's! I have a dog who is a picky eater with allergies and Darwin's has been great for her. It's the only thing she will eat if she is at the pet sitters house. They love the taste and all the dogs follow me around the house when they know it's feeding time. I love how good it is for them.

The shipping cost is nearly half the price paid for the food. The new pricing policy charges shipping cost whether it is shipped to your house or if you pick up your order at the warehouse. People who were lucky enough to order before the new pricing policy and live within commuting distance of a warehouse save a lot of money.

We adopted our cat, Jackson, when he was 14-1/2. He'd been diagnosed with pancreatitis, IBD, and had lost significant weight. We started him on a species appropriate diet and he improved, but then developed CKD. Then we found Darwin's Kidney Support Diet. Jackson loves it more than any other food we've tried. But the best part is the amazing improvement in his health. In the past, his creatinine had ranged from 3.5-3.8. His most recent test showed a creatinine level of 3.0, an improvement that our vet called "huge". He has no symptoms of pancreatitis or IBD, he's at his ideal weight, and his coat is beautiful. But most importantly, he feels good. We're so grateful for the people at Darwin's and their commitment to providing quality, healthy food for our furry ones.

I have been feeding raw for a couple of years to my three dogs and before that I was cooking for them. I decided to try Darwin's because I have seen the way it was made on Youtube. I have been using both pre-mades as well as DIY. I like to feed a combination in order to insure my dogs are getting their nutrition along with their bones and some extra organ meat. I have to say I'm impressed with the food. One of of my dogs can have IBS issues with certain meats/foods, but so far she has been doing very well (not that other other raw meat sellers were inferior, just has to do with compatibility). She took to the beef and lamb very well. Those she can have some difficulty with. She's always good with fowl and loves the turkey, chicken, and duck. All three dogs are doing very well with Darwin's. One suggestion may be to start up a (sixth) line with pork. I know this is easier said than done (costs involved), but would be a good offset for having 3 varieties of fowl. I would definitely get all 6 varieties then.

It took me a few weeks to transition Sugar to Darwin's. I am paying now about 15 percent more for her food than with canned Fancy Feast etc, but it is such a joy to see her change. She is more playful and agile, seems more content after eating. It also seems that canned food had a kind of addictive effect on her - she tended to overeat and still have appetite for more. Now she gets reasonable amounts and is happy. Happy we made the change.

I wanted to write a review, but didn’t see the option. My Augie will be 10 years old this month. He’s been on a raw diet since he was a pup. When I bought the product I was using, there would often be freezer burn. Well, your product is awesome. Augie loved it. Gobbled it up. My sons dogs eat raw also, so my next order I am going to share some with him. The meat looked amazing, so fresh. Thank you so much. Augie and Augies Mom Grace.

All three pups LOVED their first batch of Darwin’s Natural Selections raw food, and that is not a statement that I get to say often! So it’s not one to be taken lightly! My oldest even seemed to have more energy and more interest in food! I will definitely be adding raw to their meal routine!
