It looks great, feels like sheer quality and I'm certain will do the job perfectly well if ever required. It's heavy for essentially a D-lock, but a small price to pay for piece of mind

Oct 01,2022The lock seems to be of good quality. It is a little smaller than my ABUS Ulock. I will never know how well the graphene coating will work unless someone tries to steal my ebike. I'm hoping it lives up to it's reviews.

Nice not to have to worry that my new bike will disappear on me whilst locked with the D1000! Seems like every other lock on the market no matter how 'heavy' is no match for an angle grinder except for the D1000. Thanks Hiplock!

Sep 30,2022No fancy LEDs or alarms, this thing relies on material qualities and construction techniques to cost a would-be bike thief more time and trouble than the bike would be worth. Even bringing saws and angle-grinders to the crime scene, still would take a motivated guy 20-30 minutes of hard work to bust the lock. Some comments: 1. The external shackle dimensions (24x32mm with armor) are too big for any portable chain, and most of the "stationary" chains. 2. The lock opening (92x155mm) restricts your locking options: i.e. you can't encompass the wheel and frame and rack at once, just two out of three. 3. It is lighter than some of its competition, but it's still pretty heavy. As an element of bike security, it's pretty good about guarding against direct physical assault. But there is a presumption regarding thief psychology that just the sight of such a formidable lock will induce him to simply move on to the next, softer, target. Maybe. Equally plausible is that, in his anger and frustration, he simply grinds away the frame of your superbike. Or just superglues the keyhole of your superlock. There you are with a busted bike, and an angle grinder. Take that, wise guy.

Sep 30,2022Hiplok D1000 Ok, so it’s going to be heavier than previous versions to account for it’s “Diamond” rating. But that said, I can’t believe it doesn’t have the belt hook thingy that made it, well, a “hip lock”, carried on one’s hip!! It’s now just another awkward to carry lock that is more secure than others, which is good, but excluding the ability to carry it easily is just silly.

Sep 30,2022On the pro side the D1000 seems like a really secure lock. However it's small size really limits where it can be used. Its weight makes it awkward to carry loose in a pack and without a dedicated bike mount it's more likely to be left at home than be used to lock my bike up to anything.

Sep 30,2022Pre-ordered the D1000 graphene lock and it has now arrived. Diplok kept in touch with progress over about 4 months on manufacturing and delivery. Delivery was fine and when expected.

Sep 30,2022I've not had a chance to use my recently delivered D1000 yet but you're pestering me for a review so... Pre-ordered the D1000 in May based on independent reviews and the SoldSecure Diamond rating. Aside from an order confirmation, silence until August announcing product shipment, followed by a delay notification. I received a request for a review before my lock arrived, along with notification that my order was complete. Really poor comms considering this was a pre-order of a flagship product. But this is the review you get when you chase before your customer has a chance to use the product. Once I've actually used it I may be able to review the product rather than the service.

Sep 30,2022D1000 looks very well made. On a motorcycle it fits well through alloy wheel "spokes". This wouldn't be suitable for conventional spoked wheels on a motorcycle. Light enough to be carried on the motorcycle when out and about. One star dropped for not the best communication, but that doesn't detract from probably the best D lock you can buy.

Oct 04,2022Took a while to get my order for a D1000 placed, network issues, probably due to high demand on release date. I incorrectly added postage, but I didn't know until I got a refund. Lock on delivery is quite impressive, and you can certainly see it's a force to be reckoned with. I've bought it primarily for use with my mountain bike, but will also be used on motorcycle when out and about. Only real downside is that there is no lock carrier available for a bike. I don't really want to have to use a rucksack, with the locks additional weight on my back, when I'm out riding all of the time. 19/10/2023 Following a years ownership I've found that this is a VERY overpriced paperweight. Doesn't fit my Trek eMTB frame and permit locking to structures, without the chain, which is too heavy to carry around anyway. The carry case wouldn't fit on my eMTB frame, so pointless buying it. Lock and chain are only useful when I go camping on my motorbike, where the weight doesn't matter too much.
