Nov 07,2024I duly paid my deposit for both myself and wife. Questionnaire sent regarding my needs as a disabled person. I received a phone call telling me of all the things I. Could not have. Wheelchair had to be below a said weight and size. Which it was. Less than 20kg. Auto folding. No guarantee room with walk in shower. no consideration for ground floor, no lifts ,no guarantee assistance with luggage to rooms. Very difficult to obtain whether paths and walkways were suitable for wheelchairs. I felt like a second class user, the inference was the tour was not designed for people with walking problems. At this point it was clear that we were not high on the customer list. I digested that we should cancel our trip and seek something elsewhere . Unfortunately we lost our £ 300 deposit through not taking the tour. Had the required information be presented in the brochure we would have not considered this trip.

Nov 06,2024Railtrail are brilliant when they organise these train themed holidays, although there’s not much time to relax! A packed itinerary through Europe visiting little known places and very good hotels. The other guests were friendly and made it a holiday to remember. Thanks Railtrail, for another fabulous time.

Nov 02,2024Having been on nearly 20 railtrail tours, the group menus are lacking reasonable choice. The last at Stirling, the hotel food was mediochre in choice and cooking. Definite info should have been advised re steep climb from station to hotel. Taxis only provided at start and finish. See new brochure has energetic dial.

Nov 02,2024It was an interesting and enjoyable holiday with a varied itinerary offering many different experiences some in southern France and others in northern Spain . There was a train ride up into the Pyrenees with panoramic views even though it was a bit hazy. Our base the Paradore hotel in Hondarribia was fantastic within the old town walls overlooking the harbour .

Nov 01,2024The holiday was fine but at Perth station it was very difficult to fine the way out quickly and you select a hotel as far from the station as you could and it had no lift .

Oct 31,2024All aspects of my holiday were excellent, from booking to departure on the final train home. At time of the holiday I was suffering a mild physical disability and throughout Chris the tour manager and the coach driver were both on hand to help me. This was my second RailTrail holiday and I will definitely go with them again.

Oct 31,2024Having travelled with other rail specialists this was our first experience of Railtrail. Having received the brochure we found so many attractive holidays with a difference that we have pencilled in so many tours that we hope to join in the coming years as our first experience based in Stirling was so varied and enjoyable. The company are very approachable and make you feel part of the family.

In addition to visiting the usual tourist attractions in Belfast, Dublin and the Kerry Ring etc, the heritage narrow gauge railways at Bushmills and Waterford also proved of interest. Henry (our RailTrail Guide) was helpful throughout and very knowledgeable.
