We stayed in the Robin for two nights. We were very impressed with the tasteful interior of the cabin, it felt like extremely homely and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The bedding was lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable. The kitchen area and bathroom were beautifully clean and the complimentary toiletries were lovely. The outdoor bath was one of the highlights, with plenty of hot water and was extremely relaxing, even when it was chilly and raining outside. We had no need to use the fire indoors as we personally found it warm enough without it, but we did use the outdoor fire pit and had plenty of wood and kindling to get it started easily. We would definitely advise taking wellies or walking boots for the walk to and from the car - it was raining whilst we were there so the ground was a bit boggy and slippy - but the hosts were well organised and kind enough to get in touch before our stay to ensure we had sensible footwear! The only thing we couldn’t find was a dustpan and brush/broom just to brush up the dried mud but it wasn’t a big problem! The view was lovely and Downton Estate where the cabins are located is idyllic and quiet - perfect for the peaceful getaway we were after. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be recommending it to our friends and families!
Firstly what is there none of. No internet, no tv, no computers, no Alexa, no people, no stress, no hassles, no rushing, no timetables, no pressure etc. But it does have total basic luxury. Both my wife and I loved it as did our little dog who never stopped wagging her tail the whole time. Loved it so much on our last day we phoned up and booked a week in the summer. Rest + Wild says it all. A true gem. Duncan, Sue & little Amber
We’ve stayed in the Shropshire location before but this was our first time trying Exmoor. Wow, gorgeous! The cabin was much bigger than the one we’ve stayed in previously which helped when having a dog with us. It all just feels so luxurious, the bedding, the towels, the decor - it’s all gorgeous. The peace and quiet was incredible, we had almost every season of weather whilst we were there - including snow but it was incredible to have the fire on and just watching the clouds and sheep. We’ve stayed in many cabins before and this is by far the best, it had a hotel feel within a cabin which is had to achieve!
We spent two days at Exmoor Rest + Wild in the Harestail cabin. A perfect setting to get away from life stresses. Upon arrival the log burner was topped up with kindling and logs, with matches. You get the bare minimum provided (in a good way!) kettle, pans, fridge etc. Comfy bed, amazing views and lovely interior. No tv to truly escape the world for a little while. Highly recommend.
beautiful location, well presented cabin
We had a wonderful stay in the Juniper Cabin. Great directions and ability to self check in. The Cabin was amazing in its interior and lay out. The bed was super comfortable, and the amenities perfect for our stay. We really enjoyed the ability after a day of walking to warm up near the wood burners which was needed after the North Devon chill and wet. There is an amazing copper bath outside which was a treat for hot evening baths and morning cold baths. There is a sense of really being outdoors and amongst nature.
It was absolutely amazing!!!! My best birthday ever in fantastic place!! High recommend!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a 4 night stay in the Shropshire location as a “mini moon” after our wedding in order to get to relax after a busy few weeks. Both of us didn’t want to leave and came back thoroughly relaxed. The attention to detail from the bedding, decor, scents and soap were superb. The tranquility and quiet with no one around but sheep was exactly what we needed and loved using the log burner to warm us as well as a soak in the outdoor tub with endless hot water. Couldn’t recommend enough and have promised to come back every year for our anniversary.
A truly fantastic place. Peaceful, beautiful, relaxing - food for the soul
Really nice couple of nights stay amongst the sheep and views. Lovely decor, excellent communication and loads of really nice little touches
I recently stayed at The Robin, in Shropshire. The whole stay was brilliant and just what i needed. The peace and quiet was great and the views from the cabin were perfect, i even managed to see a beautiful sunrise over clee hill from the comfort of the bed. The log burner was put to good use the entire stay with plenty of wood and kindling to get a fire going and it warmed up the cabin very quickly. I took my two dogs with me and there were some great walks surrounding the grounds. The outdoor tub was great for a soak after a long walk and the shower in the cabin was great too with hot water quickly. Ruby was brilliant, answering any queries very quickly and was so helpful throughout the stay. It had rained quite a bit before arriving and during the stay and there isnt a path to the cabin, its through a field, so make sure to pack some wellies or walking boots to get things to and from the car! A perfect stay! And i look forward to booking again.
From the moment I arrived it was pure relaxation. I work full time and long hours in a very demanding industry and needed this time out to have some much needed, overdue downtime and time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I can honestly say that after staying here in Exmoor I have never felt so recharged and reset. I stayed alone and I felt so comfortable and safe despite being totally secluded. I stayed in the Fern. The cabin itself is simply beautiful and has everything you could possibly need. Everything from the pots and pans to the luxurious bedding and decor was of high spec. It was pure luxury. The outdoor bath is the highlight and it was glorious to bathe outside surrounded by nothing but acres of fields and some sheep for company! The weather was wet and rainy so it is a good idea to bring some wellies or good walking boots. However, the weather did not put me off and I loved exploring the local places across Exmoor. I visited Tarr Steps, Valley of the Rocks and Dunkery Beacon. The coastal path walks around the Valley of the Rocks was a particular highlight for me. You walk around the cliff face and the views across the coastal sea is nothing short of breathtaking. The path then takes you into the village where there are some lovely souvenir shops and cafes for cream teas. After a long day exploring, going back to the cabin in the evenings was lovely. A nice hot outdoor bath was much needed after walking all those miles and the gas hobs are great for cooking. It was too wet for me to use the outdoor fire pit… but there is always next time! Waking up to views across the fields with the sheep grazing was incredible. A tip- whilst you wait for the cabin to heat up by using the log burner, take a dressing gown and slippers to stay warm and toasty. I’m glad I did! Kate from the Rest + Wild team was so helpful. I was able to contact her via message if needed for any queries I had, which was nice that they are on hand, but equally you are left alone to your own devices. The team clearly care about you and aim for you to have the best stay. Finally, the bedding is very inviting and I had the best uninterrupted sleep I’ve had in a very long time! I will be booking again and will recommend Rest + Wild to all who are looking to relax and get away from the stresses and strains of life. Being surrounded by nature, animals and nothing but silence has been so good and therapeutic for the soul :-)
We stayed in The Robin in Shropshire for our wedding anniversary and my husbands 40th birthday and it was beautiful. The location and views are unbeatable (although note that the occupants of The Nightingale lodge will walk past your lodge to get to their car) The walks are amazing, nearby Ludlow is lovely and bathing outside surrounded by the sheep was an experience! Unfortunately for the premium price there were a few disappointing things. We were told before we even arrived that the lock on the lodge door had broken. We couldn’t lock the door all weekend and so we were not able to 100% relax as we were worried about our belongings when we went out. The tap in the bathroom was leaking badly. The dripping kept us awake at night. It was a little dusty in places and could also do with more hooks for coats in winter. We had a lot of layers to dry out and not many places to do so. I haven’t heard anything since but hopefully all of these things are fixed for the next occupants so that they get a 5⭐️ experience
If you are thinking of booking, just go for it! Myself and partner stayed in Woodrush cabin in Exmoor for 3 nights. The cabin itself was warm and cozy, the wood burn and fire pit was perfect as we stayed during February. The cabin was very clean and the decor/facilities made it extra special. There were sheep surrounding the cabin! The bath outdoors was very relaxing (bring flip flops & gown). We completed 2 of the recommended walks. Valley of rocks was our favourite and we visited the town which was picturesque. The team communicated with us throughout the process and were very kind and accommodating. They truly made the experience extra special and stress free. JUST BOOK! YOU WONT REGRET IT! Thank you to the amazing team :)
This is the second time myself and a friend have stayed with Rest+Wild; we stayed at their Shropshire site in The Wren last year so wanted to experience Exmoor too. It’s a really peaceful few days away, with none of the buzz or stress of normal life but with all the creature comforts of an amazing shower, comfortable bed, cosy log burner, views for days and just time to relax. The cabins are amazing - special shout out to the epic outdoor bath, a hot bubble bath with views and sheep as company after a hike is heaven! We drove to Croyde and did an amazing 8km hike around the coast and then a (incredibly muddy!) 9km hike the next day from Tarr’s Steps alongside the river and through forest. Be prepared to be muddy at this time of year, but it’s so worth it. Looking forward to the next one!
I could not raise this place enough. They changed my booking last minute due to a bereavement, Ruby was very helpful in advance and we had numerous WhatsApp messages to assist and answering questions. The cabin itself is in a restful and relaxing environment we absolutely loved it! The cabin is decorated well and to a high standard and is full of things to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable
Incredible peaceful and restful stay, lean into the lifestyle of going on long walks, bathing outside and cooking simple food on the mini hobs and fire pit! Was very accurate to the pictures on the site and really had a wow factor!
Perfect tranquility and restful stay. We had an amazing time, the weather was classic of exmoor but we still enjoyed the walks, scenery and fire pit when we could. The cabin was beautifully kitted out. Would highly recommend!
A really peaceful, magical stay at The Nightingale in Shropshire. Idyllic for a few days rest and relaxation.

Apr 06,2024We have just returned from a stay with Rest and Wild - Exmoor and we absolutely loved it. The cabin was the epitome of cosy luxury and just the place to switch off and enjoy some time off the grid. We would highly recommend.
