Beautiful place with nothing but peace and quiet for company, and the odd sheep. Amazing, loved every second of it.
A fantastic weekend away! The cabin is beautifully located and well designed. The team (Kate) was also very responsive before and during our stay with any queries we had. The interior is gorgeous, we highly recommend and would love to come back.
What a fantastic get away from it all stay. The cabin was so cosy and with the log burner in the evening it was lovely. We went in November so needed it.The cabin had everything we needed. The walks were wonderful and our dog had the time of his life.Shame we shared our field with a flock of sheep, but then we were on a working farm.
We spent a long weekend with rest and wild and what an amazing weekend it was! From the moment you arrive you instantly feel relaxed! We received a call the day before our booking to let us know that the weather had taken a bit of a turn so they gave us some recommendations on things we might need and that if we would like they could have a fire ready for us on arrival. We also received lots of communication via WhatsApp on directions, key codes and when our cabin was ready! We could not have had a better experience! Our cabin was so warm and cozy and spotless!! It also smelt amazing The views are breathtaking and those sunrises are incredible. Rest and wild think of absolutely everything! Even down to giving instructions on how to make the perfect fire! (This was definitely needed for us) We opted for our own pizza making kit and pizza oven. This was a great little extra and something really fun to do as a couple! We really did experience every sort of weather to! Frost and ice on our first day, beautiful sun shine the next followed by storm Isha NOTHING was spoiled by any of it and only made it even better. Listening to the rain fall was truly relaxing, I would definitely recommend (if you’re brave enough) to take an outdoor bath especially in the rain. All in all we have never felt more rested than after our weekend spent at The Wren with Rest and Wild and I could not recommend them enough.
We had a really enjoyable stay with yourselves. Such a peaceful and relaxing environment to switch off from the world. The cabin was a ideal size for couples with all the necessary cooking requirements and having a log burner was massively helpful when the temperature is dropping below 0 degrees. Thank you for wonderful experience.
The sparrow is remote. We stayed in this cabin and it was definitely the only very remote cabin. Nothing but sheeps in the morning, and pine trees. Very cosy
We recently stayed in Exmoor and loved it! It poured with rain most of the time but it only made the experience better. Beautiful cabin, stunning views and an outdoor bathtub to stargaze in the evening. Best sleep we’ve had in a long time, left feeling so well rested.
Beautifully scenic and peaceful spot for a great reset. This was a return trip as we had previously had a lovely stay in March. It delivered again and was a great way to unwind and step away from a busy work schedule. Perfect little spot
Loved the estate itself, really beautiful surroundings and view and the cabin itself was lovely, clearly cleaned and well looked after. Sadly though it was not worth the high cost: - The location was nowhere near as remote as advertised. We stayed in the Wren and regularly had cars driving past the cabin to go through the field to another property - The kitchen window did not open which meant that the fire alarm went off every single time we cooked. We had to tie up the dog in order to open the door which was less than ideal for a supposedly dog friendly place and a simple window fix would solve it - As we were packing up our car (and using the fab wheelbarrow to get our luggage back to the car) we saw the cleaner arriving. It was 10.20 so within the check out time and felt very pushy. I can see in below reviews that both this and the window have been flagged but neither have clearly been fixed which is a shame. If you are going to charge a premium price per night it needs to match the experience and with a few small tweaks it could but presently we won't return.
Absolutely loved our stay with Rest+Wild, the perfect escape from our children and opportunity to relax and rest. The cabin is absolutely gorgeous, high spec, clean and the views are incredible. All the basics you need, the bed is incredibly comfortable and warm despite the December weather. The outdoor bath was a win for me, despite the wind and cold, we could still enjoy a bath in the great outdoors. Would highly recommend, however a couple of very small things which would make it 5 stars would be to provide dressing gowns, stupidly we forgot to bring ours and they would add that extra special touch. An extra couple of hooks on the front of the bathroom door or somewhere else would be beneficial as well as we had nowhere to hang our coats except on the hooks in the bathroom which we used for our towels. We had the perfect break and left feeling relaxed and connected.
My stay was really lovely - I was alone for a few days to re-charge and the long walks around the country-side were lovely. The hut was finished beautifully, and the woodfire stove was very warm when used properly - although mornings were cold until the stove was started up again. I had a lovely sleep when here, bedding was gorgeous, views over the fields were stunning.
The cabin itself is set in a beautiful field and has some lovely views to wake up to. The bed was really comfortable and cozy. However, the price I feel did not reflect the overall experience. Firstly, the bathroom sink was blocked making it difficult to use properly; even just washing your hands threatened an overflowing bathroom. The cups and glasses required cleaning prior to use as well as the griddle pan. The kitchen window did not open which meant any cooking on the hob, which was needed during -3 morning temperatures, would set the fire alarm off requiring the door to be open. The pizza oven would be a nice touch however despite hours of constantly topping the wood pellets to keep the fire going the oven did not heat to cook the pizza. Due to the very low temperature we could not use the outdoor bath as the pipes were frozen and we understand this is out of the hosts control. Although we would not want to use the outdoor bath due to the party of 10 and there dogs walking through field followed by several vehicles through out the stay- not as secluded as promised. On the last day we had paid for late check out and throughout the morning we had noticed a gentleman driving back and forth in front of the hut at which point we took no notice due to the other vehicles we had seen. 5 minutes before it was our time to check out, we were ready and were just doing final checks/cleans, the gentleman we saw previously and a lady drove up to the hut door and very obviously wanted us to leave. This made us feel very watched on reflection. This is a beautiful stay but it does fall short of it's luxury price tag.
I don’t ever plan to come back after my awful stay. I don’t intend to recommend or send friends or family out of fear they would suffer the same stay we had. Not only did we have non-functional fridge for the first night of the stay, so many basic necessities were not provided like a simple hand towel or chopping board. If the aim is to relax at your stay here then I’m afraid you’ve missed the step completely because I’m not sure what about this stay was relaxing at all? The panic of not having a working fridge overnight? Can you believe the only source of heat at this cabin is a tiny wood burner that generates little to no heat whatsoever… having no central heating during below 0`c weather is shocking in this day and age. The panic of the fire dissipating overnight so to shiver in below freezing temperatures? I PLEAD YOU to find another staycation as I wish someone had put a genuine review about this travesty. There’s plenty more negatives I’d like to say about it, but the only highlight was the local Ludlow Farm Shop. Do visit if ever you’re in Ludlow as their fresh produce is amazing… that said don’t put it in a non-functional fridge I learnt that the hard way.
Superb experience - fabulous location, cosy and toasty in a frosty November. Ludlow a joy.
We had a gorgeous stay at The Wren cabin! A mix of rainy and sunny days, the fire helped keep us warm in early November. The views were amazing, water pressure fantastic for both the rainfall shower and outdoor bath. We loved lying in bed, switching our phones off and playing board games with no interruption other than sheep and pheasants. If you're going in Winter, I'd recommend going a little more prepared than we did - pack warm socks & comfy clothes for the mornings for when you don't want to put the fire on just yet :) The only two improvements I'd make are 1) having a few blankets, and 2) wooden spoons - we were nervous of using the metal utensils on the great Ninja pots & pans. All in all, our best (albeit first) cabin type stay so far! Would return immediately.
I took my Wife and 2 dogs to Rest+Wild for 2 amazing nights! We got very lucky with the weather but the place is stunning! Loved the Cabin they have everything you need and the pizza oven was great! We have booked again for February this time for 3 nights and cannot wait! Sophie was very helpful! Book it now you won’t regret it!
We've done our fair share of cabin trips in the past few years and we have both accepted that this stay at Exmoor (Woodrush) was one of our best. We travelled with both a child (2) and Dog on this occasion and although the space became very limited, the field became the open playground we needed. Our only complaints were the lack of appliances/space within the cabin to manage a child and cooking for 3. If you are out on the evening for food, it can be difficult to access the car/parking. Having said that, this was already to our knowledge when booking.. What the cabin lacks in terms of living space and appliances, it makes up for in views and peace; there is no traffic to be heard or seen for miles and the surrounding area offers a great escape for walks and pubs/food. You are joined by onlooking sheep throughout the day! Would highly recommend for parties of 2, it would have been a 5 star experience for us if we had not taken our larger family.
The details in the cabin are on point from the decor to the table wear to the furniture. It is all stunning. We stayed in the Sparrow and the views were incredible! The outside bath was beautiful and we had such a lovely slow morning which was a real change from the hustle and bustle from work. I would love to revisit and stay again!

Feb 02,2024So we happened to arrive on the windiest and wettest day of the year... storm level weather! Not something that could be helped of course but we were a little concerned as we knew the cabin was 'off grid' and based in fields. When we arrived we found a trolley assigned to us. We were able to pull our items up to the cabin in the trolley, which was very handy as we probably brought far more bags than needed in the end! Worth noting, the car park space is not alongside the cabin so we would suggest keeping items you take to a minimum to save multiple trips. Once in, it's super cosy and the cabin had everything we wanted for our stay. We had no issues at all. There was plenty of wood for the log burner which we enjoyed getting going and keeping lit whilst there, it's part of the fun! The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook (all great quality). It was super nice to be locked away in the middle of nowhere with the rain beating down and the wind howling. A real experience. Essentially, a really high standard. Ps. Their in-house Picante cocktail offering was delicious. We will definitely go back.
