Our stay at Rest+Wild was absolutely lovely. We followed the walks on OS Maps and the scenery was beautiful. The cabin (The Nightingale) itself was wonderful and we felt very off grid. Would 100% recommend.
Rest+Wild in the scenic Shropshire Hills is a hidden gem worth discovering. The cabin sets a high standard, boasting cleanliness and beautiful decor. The large window offers breathtaking views of the majestic mountains, creating an atmosphere of tranquility. The surrounding environment is peaceful, with only the gentle sounds of nature and grazing sheep. It's a perfect retreat to relax and escape the noise of everyday life. The location allows for exploration of the stunning landscapes and invigorating hikes. Rest+Wild is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts seeking solace in nature's embrace. We love every second there ❤️
The team at Rest and Wild have created something totally unique. Back to nature with the most glorious views in an idyllic setting but with the height of comfort. Everything fitted to the highest standard and with beautiful taste. The bed is out of this world! We are already planning our next trip. Thank you for creating such a special place.
We had booked to stay at Rest and Wild originally for January, and due to a number of delays, have just spent a weekend in the Heather cabin in Exmoor in May. Completely worth the wait and would highly recommend. Cabins are finished with a really high spec, and the views are brilliant. Fires (both indoor in the wood burner, and the the pit outside) are very easy to use, with all the wood and fire starters you need for a decent set up. The bathroom is lovely, and the bath outside was great for a morning soak with brilliant views to match. The customer service was also excellent, between communication before arrival and catering to a couple of extra needs once we were there. Would definitely advise taking a car over the train, as we totalled an additional c. £300 for trains and taxis from London to the location, and exploring is slightly limited without a car once you are there. Only thing to note is that we were pretty surprised to at the price of the pasta kit once we were there - not much bang for your buck. Would probably be bringing our own food shop for next time. Overall we had the best time and will definitely be back! What a place to switch off for a weekend. Thank you Rest and Wild x
We just came back from our 3 nights stay at Robin. It is ideal place for couples get away. Magical place starting from rolling Shropshire hills view, finishing bathing alfresco. A special shout-out to cabin interior creator! Love it 🤎💚 I hope we can experience it again soon 💚
Just come back from two nights at rest and wild in the Shropshire Hills. This place is absolutely what we needed. Complete rest and relaxation. This place is one of the most beautiful places I have been. The view from the cabin is so picturesque, I found myself just staring out of the window most of the day. The accommodation is spotless, the bed is so comfy and the cabin has everything you need for a pleasant, cosy stay. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back soon.
What a beautiful place to getaway and relax. I actually won the experience in an Instagram competition but would definitely pay to go back. The views are stunning and the hut is so private. We stayed in the robin. The decor is beaut, the bed super comfy, the shower lovely and warm. And the outdoor bath is just wonderful. All you can hear is the sound of pheasants. We cooked food on the fire pit. Unfortunately couldn’t get the pizza oven hot enough. The local area is great for exploring we enjoyed a wander around Ludlow and Ludlow farm shop, and walked up the hill you can see from the campsite. I came with my husband our dog and our 4 month old daughter. Can’t wait to go again.
We had the most peaceful weekend at Rest + Wild and the experience more than lived up to our expectations. The cabins are extremely cozy and tastefully decorated, with pretty much everything you could need. The surroundings are stunning. The outdoor tub was the best part. Will likely be returning. My only notes: (I am a travel writer, so I'm quite nit-picky, and I'm only writing this in the hopes that it will help make experiences even better for future guests!) For the price guests are paying, it should include unlimited firewood. We barely had enough for one night and most weekends they have a 3-night minimum stay. The whole point of an experience like this is to make fires, so they should provide you with enough wood to actually be able to do so. Should include at least one non-stick pan — as nice as cast iron is, it's not the easiest to wash up, and if guests haven't been seasoning it properly, eggs and such will stick to it. Makes for an unpleasant washing up experience which is not something you wan't to deal with during what's supposed to be a relaxing getaway. We also weren't able to locate a small pot (for things like beans). Again, for the prices guests are paying, give us an 11am check out. I actually laughed when they wrote "a leisurely 10:30 checkout." Relatedly, we checked out 15 mins early, and there was a woman waiting by the gate with a wheel barrow full of supplies. I really hope that wasn't a R+W employee as that would be extremely unprofessional to have the housekeeper visibly waiting for guests to leave before check out time is even up. Guests should never feel rushed, watched, or pressured, or like their time is up (especially PRIOR to the designated check-out time). The biggest downside for us is that the logs were not catching, so we weren't really able to get a fire going either indoors or out, despite numerous attempts. I think the logs must have been too damp from the rain? Not sure if there's anything Rest + Wild could do about this, but it was quite a bummer not to be able to have a roaring fire outside at any point, and the logs in the indoor burner didn't catch either, so we were only able to have a short-lived fire with the kindling. Because of this, we weren't able to heat the cabin and were quite cold each night. Despite that, I still highly recommend the experience, and would love if a location closer to London opened up so we could come back more easily!
It’s was perfect, as advertised, every bit. The sparrow is the one to stay in, total seclusion and amazing views. We had two dogs with us and they had the best time. We cooked on the fire every night and be warned the log burner, inside, doesn’t need loads of wood, it gets toasty quickly!
I’ve been trying to think how to put into words how wonderful our stay was.. but it was so truly special, that words can’t express. We booked a last minute 2 night stay after watching a reel on instagram. It’s been a tough few months dealing with work stresses and bereavement - so my fiancé and I were excited to escape from the world for a little bit. Upon arrival, the drive through the beautiful grounds and check in process was seamless. We stayed in the Robin, and were amazed by how beautifully the cabin had been decorated. Stunning interiors, it smelt beautiful, soft towels and linen, tea and coffee - everything we needed. We spent the evening listening to the rain, watching the fire, playing a game of battleships! A trip to Tesco in Ludlow meant we cooked a simple dinner (which was one of our most delicious!) using the high quality cookware. The next morning we woke up to sunrise over Clee Hill, with sunshine streaming through the big windows. All you could hear was sheep bleating, birdsong and the squawk of pheasants. We had an outdoor bath in the sun looking out across the hills. In that moment we both felt like we were in heaven. Our day consisted of a beautiful walk through the grounds, reading, painting and finally dinner cooked on the fire pit - where we listened to the owls and watched the full moon and stars, such incredibly special moments. We both met at art college 10 years ago and our trip here inspired us to paint again - my fiancé painted some watercolours of the cabin and grounds to try to capture the beauty. We both agreed it was the most special break, we made memories here that we will never forget. We made a deal that when life gets tough, we will shut our eyes and pretend that we are in our little Robin cabin, looking out across the sun dappled hills. It is a stunningly perfect haven, and we can’t thank the team at Rest and Wild enough for creating the most wonderful retreat. I feel grateful to have experienced a few days of slow, peaceful life here. We get married next year and if we are lucky enough to return for our honeymoon we would be overjoyed. Thank you so very much.
Excellent design, beautiful views, great host
Most amazing stay couldn’t recommend enough the perfect escape from the world.
The perfect place to slow down and completely switch off! The cabins have everything you need, the bed was so comfy and the outdoor bath was delightful with views for miles. Would highly recommend! We can't wait to go back one day soon.
We had a lovely relaxing, weekend in the exmoor cabin (Windrush). The cabins have been done to a very high spec and have everything you need to chill out. Our cabin was entirely remote with breathtaking views across countryside. The bathroom is great as is the outdoor bath which I used despite it being freezing- I was pleasantly surprised! The kitchen is small but adequate enough to do simple meals in/heat stuff up in. Our only criticisms were that the cookware provided is cast iron which, although it does look lovely, is not the easiest to wash up, especially in a small space & on a weekend away when you don’t want to scrub pans. We could also have done with a file in the cabin with local information and walks, along with cabin info eg on the log burner, how to turn on the hot water if it goes off etc. Other than that it was a perfect stay and I’d definitely recommend.
I had 3 nights in a beautiful cabin in Shropshire. Close to my home, so I could make the most of a rest from my busy home and business. The view was magic, perfectly framed by 2 big windows. I hardly moved from the extremely comfy bed and read a book a day. Heaven. A small wood burner and a huge fire pit kept me really warm. I’ll be coming back as soon as possible.
Stayed in Sparrow in Jan 2023. This could be a fantastic serene escape yet, both of my morning’s peace were peppered with the sound of gun fire in the surrounding woods. Rest and Wild really should know about pheasant shoots on the estate and communicate these to guests. Sadly this was really unsettling for my dog and not the quiet seclusion I was expecting.
We just returned from our 2nd stay with Rest + Wild - this time we stayed in The Heather in Exmoor. A fabulous, relaxing 5 days out in the wild. Amazing location and cosy cabin, we highly recommend if you need some downtime to switch off!
The perfect and ideal getaway. This place it’s magical , if you are looking for peace and beautiful escape that’s the one. Everything organised, clean and so cosy. We will be back definitely.
Amazing !! We stayed in the Wren and had a fabulous time.

May 15,2023We've just spent our first wedding anniversary at Rest+Wild Shropshire and it was perfect. We stayed in the Nightingale overlooking Clee Hill. The cabin has everything you need and was beautifully decorated. The bed was so comfy and you could easily spend all day sitting there and staring our the window watching the sheep and lambs. The outside space is great, with plenty of seating and a large fire pit. We spent most of our time here and going on one of the R+W approved walks around the beautiful Downton estate. The perfect place to switch off for a few days. Can't wait for our next visit!
