Rhode Island Student Loan Authority (RISLA) is a non-profit quasi-state authority that has been providing lower-cost higher education financing solutions since 1981 and free college planning services since 1998. Also provided by RISLA is RIScholarships.org, a free online scholarship search tool to help match students with local scholarships. Additionally, RISLA also offers the Knowledge for College Scholarship, which awards 50 students $2,000 each to help pay for college expenses. For students trying to reduce their interest rates on existing student loans, RISLA also offers low-cost student loan refinancing options. RISLA is with you every step of your college journey, walking you through the college planning process, educating families on obtaining financial aid, and providing tools and resources that help families make informed and responsible borrowing choices to help pay for education.

Jan 12,2025The process was reasonably quick and simple! I was asked what information was needed, and I responded as clearly as I could. What helps is when you say a letter and follow it with a word that starts with that letter, so you and your FAFSA helper are on the same page. Just one thing, none of the information I gave was repeated back to confirm it. Everything ended up being right, I presume, but it just left me with a feeling of wonder. That’s it! Thank you for this service, it has helped take off a lot of stress!

Jan 10,2025The College Planning Center of RI is an invaluable resource for our family. My son and I met with Cindy this week for help with his FAFSA. Cindy was terrific! She walked us through the process and helped us to submit his FAFSA easily. I have been to the CPCRI many times for help with both of my children's FAFSAs. I am always impressed with the staff - they are always pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them to anyone I know who has a current or future college student.

We were told what to prepare ahead of time, and our actual appointment was less than 30 minutes to complete. Our advisor was so friendly and knowledgeable and immediately put me at ease. Everything about the appointment was simple and streamlined. I highly recommend using this service.
