Rhode Island Student Loan Authority (RISLA) is a non-profit quasi-state authority that has been providing lower-cost higher education financing solutions since 1981 and free college planning services since 1998. Also provided by RISLA is RIScholarships.org, a free online scholarship search tool to help match students with local scholarships. Additionally, RISLA also offers the Knowledge for College Scholarship, which awards 50 students $2,000 each to help pay for college expenses. For students trying to reduce their interest rates on existing student loans, RISLA also offers low-cost student loan refinancing options. RISLA is with you every step of your college journey, walking you through the college planning process, educating families on obtaining financial aid, and providing tools and resources that help families make informed and responsible borrowing choices to help pay for education.

Nov 03,2022In less than a hour, Mrs Fernadez walked us through the FAFSA and CSS Profile. She answered our questions and caught our mistakes. After we submitted the CSS it came back with warnings. We tried to figure it out ourselves but couldn’t understand what was triggering the warning. We emailed Mrs. Fernandez and she got right back on the phone with us, found our mistake and corrected them for us. Having a professional help us fill out this these application takes so much anxiety out of the process. And, she was a pleasure to work with!

Nov 01,2022I had to send my paperwork multiple times and when I called I waited a long time in que. I then had to call multiple times to get it to be completed. It seems like there is a lack of help in the office. The underwriter did not seem to look for the files that were sent and instead kept pushing the file back until it was ready to expire and I called.
