Rhode Island Student Loan Authority (RISLA) is a non-profit quasi-state authority that has been providing lower-cost higher education financing solutions since 1981 and free college planning services since 1998. Also provided by RISLA is RIScholarships.org, a free online scholarship search tool to help match students with local scholarships. Additionally, RISLA also offers the Knowledge for College Scholarship, which awards 50 students $2,000 each to help pay for college expenses. For students trying to reduce their interest rates on existing student loans, RISLA also offers low-cost student loan refinancing options. RISLA is with you every step of your college journey, walking you through the college planning process, educating families on obtaining financial aid, and providing tools and resources that help families make informed and responsible borrowing choices to help pay for education.

Mar 26,2024Painfully Slow & Outdated We received our approval on Feb 27, 2024. It is now Mar 25th and the loans from Mohela still have not been paid off. RISLA sent a CHECK!! A check? Are you kidding me? Is this 1995? Outdated process and obnoxiously slow in a modern banking world. I'm surprised they didn't ask for us to fax in information.

Mar 24,2024My husband and I attempted to complete the FAFSA on our own the first time and were so stressed thinking we weren't completing it correctly. A friend suggested we call the College Planning Center to go over our questions and since then we have completed our FAFSA with someone from the CPC for both our daughter and son's 4 years of college. They are so knowledgeable and helpful and efficient! We just completed what could potentially be our last FAFSA over a 20 minute phone call! Anyone NOT using the College Planning Center is CRAZY! Save yourself the time and energy- they know what they're doing!
