Rhode Island Student Loan Authority (RISLA) is a non-profit quasi-state authority that has been providing lower-cost higher education financing solutions since 1981 and free college planning services since 1998. Also provided by RISLA is RIScholarships.org, a free online scholarship search tool to help match students with local scholarships. Additionally, RISLA also offers the Knowledge for College Scholarship, which awards 50 students $2,000 each to help pay for college expenses. For students trying to reduce their interest rates on existing student loans, RISLA also offers low-cost student loan refinancing options. RISLA is with you every step of your college journey, walking you through the college planning process, educating families on obtaining financial aid, and providing tools and resources that help families make informed and responsible borrowing choices to help pay for education.

Dec 16,2022The refinancing process, uploading documents etc., was easy and convenient. The entirety of the process felt very transparent and honest and personally I appreciated that I was able to do it without making any phone calls. After a loan is approved, I would only suggest that RISLA provide a little more direction on when to stop payments to the prior loan holder. However, I called and a representative I spoke with gave me that information right away and was very helpful.

She was so knowledgeable, friendly, patient not only with me but with my twins going to college in the fall! She instructed us with the utmost patience and kindness!
