Rhode Island Student Loan Authority (RISLA) is a non-profit quasi-state authority that has been providing lower-cost higher education financing solutions since 1981 and free college planning services since 1998. Also provided by RISLA is RIScholarships.org, a free online scholarship search tool to help match students with local scholarships. Additionally, RISLA also offers the Knowledge for College Scholarship, which awards 50 students $2,000 each to help pay for college expenses. For students trying to reduce their interest rates on existing student loans, RISLA also offers low-cost student loan refinancing options. RISLA is with you every step of your college journey, walking you through the college planning process, educating families on obtaining financial aid, and providing tools and resources that help families make informed and responsible borrowing choices to help pay for education.

Nov 09,2022I liked the fact that the rate offered by RISLA is more fair than Sallie Mae. I disliked that the check for the buyout of the two loans didn't stop Sallie Mae from charging us again for both loans again on 11/4/22. I am hoping I will see a detailed breakdown of what was applied to my new loan, and the balance of the original since I probably just paid approx. another $500 on the original loans four days ago. I also disliked the whole shuffling of the email addresses. If both myself and my wife share an email address and I am ok with that, I didn't see the need to make a new email. I have a new dedicated email just for this loan, which I think is silly. Lastly I received a message that I will be able to see the loan account in a couple of weeks, again I don't see what the hold up is.
