I woukd only give half a star complete rip off merchants they make there own prices up a disgraceful service avoid at all cost

I was horribly let down by Royal Cars last night, having booked a car over 24 hours in advance over the phone, and then confirming it via WhatsApp. We were three females travelling back to Oxford from a rural location at midnight after a wedding, and our taxi didn’t show up. The driver tried calling me 20 minutes before the appointed time to check if we still wanted a taxi, but I didn’t hear my phone at that point. 10 minutes later (so still 10 minutes before the taxi was due) I checked my phone and called Royal Cars and was told the booking had been cancelled and they wouldn’t send us a car. We only made it back to Oxford thanks to a very kind friend making one trip and then returning back for us 45 minutes later. Meanwhile we were left freezing outside a rural location. Surely the whole point of booking in advance and confirming via a messaging service is so that you can trust that there will be a taxi ready and available when you need it? No doubt the company decided it would be more lucrative to keep their driver in Oxford itself, but then they shouldn’t have let us book the taxi in the first place. The person on the phone was unhelpful and unapologetic, and showed absolutely no concern for our safety. I have deleted the Royal Cars app on my phone, and will do what I can to make sure their unreliability is known - a taxi service is utterly useless and indeed dangerous, if it leaves people stranded in the middle of the night.

If these make any difference. Please do not use this useless firm. Unreliable and unfair is understatement. Twice I have been burned a third time never again. Charged waiting time when no waiting ?? No support from central office…. And then when actual need for waiting no car but billed full taxi fare. I advise you not to use this awful firm.

Most appalling service. Decided 20 minutes before I was due to be collected, that they wouldn’t honour the advertised price I booked it through the app for, the previous evening. Just appalling. Poor.

DO NOT USE. Extremely rude customer service, booked a taxi waited 40 minutes rang as it was ‘cancelled’ they said they don’t pick up from my area even though I’ve used them many times. Said they were busy and have no mini buses to which I said you should have contacted me and offered 2 taxis to which they said ‘ we’re busy’. They were quick enough to take my money but never showed up, then blocked my number, disgusting service NEVER USE PLEASE.

No longer fit for purpose. Not enough Cars to meet demand and you cannot pre book. Oxford City Council need to sort this out, this is embarrassing for Oxford coming like small village service.

so much wrong with the car I'm now stuck with royal cars only did half the jobs to fix what needed to be done scratches and dents all over it and get a new roof lining not happy ..... not recommend was even denied a courtesy car when came in to get some of these repairs done as I live an hour and a half away this should have been a main priority I felt very disrespected and discarded until I made a stand .as I couldn't go anywhere. all these issues should have been dealt to prior to the car even being advertised I still have a list to get done Would never recommend anyone to go to royal cars big rip off and strip people of hard earned good money.....

Appalling service! Dreadful! We booked a cab a day in advance so that my husband could enjoy our celebratory lunch without having to drive. When no cab arrived at our overnight accommodation, I rang the office and was told that booking a cab did not actually guarantee that one would arrive! I’ve never heard anything so ridiculous. Luckily in Kent, when you book a cab, you know that means a car has been allocated to you and will actually arrive! Will never ever use this firm again and will make sure I spread my views as far and wide as I can! Still incensed more than 24 hours later.

I used to swear by Royal cars I would only ever use them, however since I've moved out of Oxford City I have learnt how much they truly do not care. They advertise to cover my area (Southmoor with Kingston Bagpuize). They will drop me home from Oxford town with no issue however twice now I have tried to book a taxi from my house. They take my address, details, price, name etc, give me a time then don't turn up. First time we called back to ask for an update on where the taxi is to be told we hadn't booked a taxi. For some very strange reason they played back a recording of the original booking and then hung up. I am assuming this was an error, clearly they weren't supposed to play it to us, like seriously!!! I won't be using Royal Cars ever again which is such a shame because all of the drivers I came across have been lovely, unfortunately for them, the men on the phones are awful, unprofessional and rude. Royal cars act like they care about their customers but they really really don't.

I didn’t order a taxi and the number Rang me 3 times so 3rd times I answered and the man asks if I ordered a taxi and I say no I haven’t (I haven’t called and my app isn’t even set up) and I go to ask where to and he straight up calls me a liar and ends the phone 😂

I rang up for a quote 2 weeks ago and rang up a week later to book, I did this all over the phone and confirmed a few times my address and where I wanted to go and the times I got the same quote both times and booked this. I then got a phone call 15 minutes before I was meant to be picked up telling me they were here but left because I didn't answer but no one knocked on my door, then told me they didn't come because they wouldn't do this job anymore then told me they would for nearly triple the price. I said I have already been given a quote and booked it over the phone and it was all confirmed he told me I was lying because no one would tell me this and that I never spoke to anyone, which I must have as he had my number and address. He then started shouting at me over the phone repeatedly telling me I was lying and that I'm not telling the truth and that they would only do the job now for triple the money. the customer service is absolutely awful and to ring me up 15 minutes before I'm meant to be picked up is not acceptable and to tell me I never spoke to anyone and that I was lying is very rude when I could show on my phone that I rang them previously. I will never use them again.

Booked a taxi early in the morning to make sure we'd make our train. After waiting for 10 minutes we called customer service, and were told that there was early morning traffic so that they couldn't help us (the early morning traffic was, of course, exactly the reason we had pre-booked). The driver showed up 15 minutes late, and did not offer an apology.

Terrible and expensive. I pre booked a taxi to attend a hospital appointment. I booked it at 13.00 to pick me up at 15.00. The car arrived at 15.20 and instead of my being early for my appointment, I was over 5 minutes late. Cherwell Cars was an excellent taxi service, what on earth happened when the name changed to Royal Cars. This is no longer the best taxi service in Banbury with a very unreliable booking system. My driver was very good and did his best to get me to my appointment. Good for him 5 stars As for Royal Cars, NO STARS

Terrible. Claimed the taxi had arrived (it hadn’t). This happened 5 times in the same evening and when I called the central line to explain they hung up the phone. Would definitely never use again and cannot trust this company.

The operators took a booking from me, then when the car never arrived I called to ask what was going on. They hadn’t taken the booking and then blamed me for it. Completely unprofessional and should be removed from operating in Oxford

We pre booked on Friday for a Taxi to and from Didcot on Saturday night. Taxi turned up on time to pick us up but we realised we did not have the conformation for the journey back. We called them and this had not been arranged so we booked for midnight collection and was quoted for the same price. Taxi turned up on time with wrong details and tries to charge us £15 more than agreed on the phone earlier when we challenged this we were basically told that is the price like it or lump it so we had no choice when we said we would not use them again the guy slammed the phone down on us. Shocking customer service please do not use them if you do double check all bookings.

We have relied on Royal Cars over Four days to transport our elderly parents around Oxford. With aprox 10 pick ups. They have always been extremely punctual and the drivers went out of their way to assist in getting in and out of the vehicles. I will definitely use again !
