UPDATE TO MY BELOW REVIEW: I initially selected Stellar after checking reviews and ratings and looking at their website. The data I accidentally deleted cost a lot of time and money to create, so the cost of retrieval was not the critical factor for me - success in retrieval was. After I posted the below review I was contacted by Stellar customer service and they arranged a Zoom call to try to see if they could have more success in retrieval than I did. In the end, they didn't (we did not do the deep scan, but their standard scan gave identical results to mine, so I assume the deep scan would have too). Stellar clearly cares about customer service, but in my particular case it was still a negative result. Other users may have a better outcome. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I accidentally deleted a folder with about 50 Excel files in it, one of which I needed to retrieve. It was not in the Recycle bin, so tried to sign up for the free trial version of Stellar with the aim of upgrading once the file had been identified via a Deep Scan. Ran the trial software but (despite severely limiting the search criteria) it signalled a scan duration of 144 hours. I ran it anyway (over several days/nights) and all it produced was a listing of the existing files on the hard drive plus one folder which was listed as "deleted" but in reality wasn't and a few random deleted files that mainly could not be reviewed or opened. I tied to engage with support to see whether I was simply not understanding the results but they sent me an email basically requiring a copy of the purchase invoice and order/reference number before providing any assistance pre-purchase. I decided to pay anyway to see whether the paid software activation provided "real" results, but it didn't. Support chat was infuriatingly unhelpful and refused to see that the "try it and then pay" sales pitch is untrue. Wasted time and money. (My drives are all shown as "healthy", so corrupted data/drive is not an issue.)
The customer service is really helpful.
