I had a great time with Travelteer in Sri Lanka. One of the coordinators Bernie made the experience. She was always willing to help us with any concerns and answer any questions we had. She was available day and night to support volunteers. Bernie organised the medical programme well, and I felt it had an effective structure, and I was thus able to get a lot out of it. She is an inspiring individual, and it is great to have a fellow student running the project.

My daughter has just returned from a fantastic experience in Morocco with Travelteer. Brilliant excursions and both the UK and Moroccon leaders were excellent. Reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is due to communication pre-departure which could have been better. For example, there were some conflicting messages regarding packing lists between the online meeting and the volunteer handbook. It would also have been nice for the students to meet James and Charlotte prior to the trip. They both did a brilliant job of looking after the students on the trip.

The Morocco trip has been such an Amazing experience, the variety of places was eye-opening and was easy to feel connected to the community. I think the order could’ve been better if we did the gites/volunteering to highlight the difference in the culture and immerse and also some activities seemed rushed. Overall, amazing trip and the leaders were really useful and nice.

This has been an excellent trip, the activities have been very fun and varied. I really feel like I got to experience everything on offer in Morocco. However, some places/ activities seemed rushed so it would have been nicer to spend longer in these places but I understand that this isn't always possible. It would have been nice to do the volunteering in the Atlas mountains first to be able to compare them with our home life but the overall volunteering experience was incredible. I felt like I was making a real difference to the community which was an amazing opportunity! James and Charlotte were brilliant leaders and it was definitely useful to have paramedics with us. ❤️

The Morocco trip has been amazing. There were a wide range of activities and places we stopped at. Although I don’t think we spent long enough in some places as it felt a bit rushed. I also think that in order to fully experience the gites , it would have been better to of volunteered before travelling to fully acknowledge the difference from our home to the rural homes and the rural homes to the modern hotels. Both James and Charlotte have put a lot of effort in and having two paramedics with us was definitely useful.

The best experience ever! 2 weeks going over all of Morocco including Marrakesh and Agadir with glorious weather (very hot!). I also felt the time volunteering in the mountains was life changing- learning about the different cultures as well as doing littering and irrigation. However I would do the volunteering part at the start of the trip to be the most energetic to get the most out of it. Shout out to Travelteer for having a well organised trip and the leaders for having a great time!

Brilliant trip. Visited so many amazing places and got to experience the culture. The accommodation was great (lots of pools!!) and the accommodation in the giets was a really enlightening experience. The leaders (James and Charlotte) were so lovely and really supportive. They made sure we had loads of fun and plenty of time to relax!

This was a very well presented trip with no points of boredom, it was just a one huge Moroccan party adventure. A few points of discomfort, which came from myself, but leaders Charlotte and James sorted me all out very well. Overall it’s a trip where it’s hard not to enjoy.

I had a wonderful time in Sri Lanka and don't want to discourage anyone from volunteering abroad because you get to meet the best people and experience the local culture. However, I advise against using Travelteer. It was immediately clear that this company's primary concern is making money the moment I paid the membership fee. Everything in Sri Lanka is done on the cheap, including accommodation, volunteering, tours, etc. The information in the booklet is utterly outdated; for instance, the AC costs nearly twice as much as it does in the brochure, and Lizzie responded that there had been a 300% rise in bills when I questioned this. If they knew this, though, why didn't they inform us before leaving? Additionally, I'm not sure if the funds obtained actually go back into the programme. For instance, in the marine programme, everything is already established, and their outgoings are little, so where does the remaining funding go? Even little things like on the tour, while it says in the guidebook that all meals are included in the tour, we had to pay for two meals ourselves the water is not provided. Don't fall for the airport transfer, which is another huge scam. They charged me £70 for a private transfer (that wasn't private) when locals in the area (not PickMe) charge £35 and when I used for a transfer to Colombo it was on time and felt extremely safe. It's disappointing that travellers use something like a transfer to make money because first-time travellers would undoubtedly fall for this. The in-house lady who does the washing is really expensive and no where near the same price than if you go to the local laundrette. After all the hidden costs, the living environment is still a major problem. The beds in my room were almost all rusted, broken, and inappropriate for an adult. There is only a little blanket; no suitable sheet is present. When there are five people living there, the cleaning staff that is supposed to be there every day only cleans our room once a week. It was filthy. It's difficult to eat when there are so many flies in the dining room that nobody is doing anything to control the problem. In addition, there were rats scurrying around the kitchen and maggots in the food. In addition, there is not enough cutlery for the entire house. Inoma was a fantastic programme leader, but my expectations were totally out of line with the reality. I was startled to see that the majority of the turtles were kept in captive in tiny tanks and would not be released any time soon. I wouldn't have gone if I had known this because it goes directly against my ethical principles. People would be less shocked and more eager to work if they were informed in advance and had an expectoration before leaving. Although Anoma did a wonderful job and gave it his all, I think it would be difficult for him to effect real change. My fifth week in Sri Lanka, I was informed that my emergency contact insurance, fundraising materials, and risk acknowledgement forms had never been received. It was unsettling to consider that they had likely violated GDPR by losing my information and that I had gone five weeks without a contact in case of emergency. Another worrying thing is they ask you to lie on visa and put holiday when there is an option for volunteering I’m unsure the reason for this. To sum up, the company's UK headquarters is to fault for overselling and refusing to hear complaints (of which there are undoubtedly many). It does not do any good for Rouchi to apologise on my fifth week and claim that Travelteer failed us and that they will make changes for the next group of volunteers. All those there before August, in my opinion, deserve an apology and compensation.

Travelteer is unlike anything else. The first week of touring the country is absolutely incredible. Everyday is packed with so many amazing activities that you will not even think of if you went to Sri Lanka alone. We had a travelteer bus and driver called Nalin and he was the best and kindest person ever. Everyone on the trip loved him so much. The second week consisted of volunteering, and I chose marine and wildlife which ranged from planting trees, making bat and frog nets, researching coral and helping at the turtle hatchery. There were also English classes at local schools where you went to help the students. Everyone was so incredibly welcoming and made me feel at home. Finally, Fraser and Aya, who were our tour guides/group leaders for the two weeks we were there. They are the best people ever. They couldn’t do enough for us. Constantly there for us if we needed at any time of the day or night. We played games, chatted, laughed and honestly they became more like friends than leaders. They are so kind hearted and did everything they could to make this trip unforgettable. I would recommend travelteer to anyone who wants to explore, meet new people, make a difference in another country and who want to experience the trip of a lifetime. I’m already considering travelling with travelteer again to another country. They are beyond incredible.

This Trip has been one to remember. I came into it thinking I wasn’t sure about it but now I know it will stay with me for a very long time. The Tour I 100% recommend which we did with Fraser and Aya who may have been coordinators but were great company! The surfing was by far the best and so was the hike to Ella Rock with such good views. Also big shout out to Nalin the number 1 best driver.
