Travelteer’s Community Development programme in Nepal was an amazing journey and experience. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching, helping in projects and making a difference in remote Nepali communities. I highly recommend Nepal to anybody considering volunteering with Travelteer. The locals and the Travelteer team are both incredibly friendly and welcoming and the country is beautiful. Do consider applying! :)
The experience was amazing, also shout to Camilla and Paula for being great co-ordinators
It was an interesting opportunity where I got to see the country as it is. We had plenty of free time and diversity in our program. Sometimes it felt more like learning than volunteering but this is not necessarily a bad thing but I wanted to feel like I was actually helping the community more than I did. Overall, I had a good experience and I enjoyed my staying there, especially because of the staff. One of the members of the staff that made my days a lot better there was Camila. She was always there for a good laugh and was there to help and listen to everything we needed to make our experience a lot better.
One of the most amazing three weeks of my life!! I did the coast to coast tour in Sri Lanka with the coordinator Camilla and she was amazing not only making sure everything went well but she is also a wonderful woman at the same time and was so easy to get along with. After a week of the tour I did 2 weeks of volunteering, one on marine and wildlife conservation with anoma and the other on English with dilanka and both were amazing coordinators and amazing programs. The travelteer house was nice and hansi and rushi were even nicer who took care of everything there. Thanks to everyone who made my experience so amazing 🫶🏻
Such an incredible experience. The staff and Co-ordinators were amazing, especially Bernie who covered the mental health and medical placements. A very amazing charity doing wonderful work.
Loved my experience at Travelteer on the English development programme. Amazing time that was made even better by the coordinators, the English coordinator, Delanca was incredible. The medical coordinator, Bernie, even though she wasn’t my coordinator, was still amazing, making everyone feel involved and loved and really bringing together the little family that you make at Travelteer. Hansi is an absolute gem, camilla, the tour coordinator was fabulous for our tour, couldn’t have asked for a better guide. And Ruchi the house manager was incredible, putting a smile on everyone’s face, working at 100 Mph just to make sure everyone was happy. The entire team are perfect, genuinely going to miss all of them.
I was on tour for a week and have been staying for the last two weeks and have 3 weeks left here, and I’ve enjoy almost all of it. It has been an incredible experience and Camila and Bernie couldn’t be more supportive, fun and amazing. I’m thoroughly enjoying my time here and I’m more than glad that I came.
great company i had such a good time id especially recommend the tours
The UK based staff are very supportive, especially Noah, they are constantly available and working to help you by providing information and insight to their programmes. They are very helpful and it makes for an easy process.
So I came to Sri Lanka with Travelteer initially for 6 weeks but after the first week I knew that I couldn't do 6 weeks... I had to do longer!! I ended up extending my time with Travelteer because I was just having the time of my life. I absolutely fell in love with the country and it only got better the longer I stayed. The programme I did was the medical elective and I was able to observe surgery, sit in clinics, learn all about the traditional medicine here called Aryuveda, did acupuncture, sat in with consultations with doctors and more. Everyone I met was just amazing, the staff were too kind and nice and straight away made me feel like home, I even ended up learning Sinhala to be able to communicate with everyone better. The food was sensational (Kottu is my favourite food I have ever eaten) and the other volunteers were absolutely class. I even ended up getting matching tattoos with my friends and ofc have to mention Bernie (love of my life and best medical coordinator). It was the most fun I've ever had in my life and I have already looked at booking flights for next year and coming out for 4 months. I would recommend it to anyone because I learnt a lot about the culture and about myself too and I'm definitely a changed person for the better 😊 (love you all x)
I had an amazing two week experience with Travelteer! As a medical elective I was able to learn and take part in activities that helped me comprehend the medical field better and I loved it. The coast to coast tour is valuable as you get to see many different places with breathtaking views, and you do lot of different activities every day! All the staff are helpful, kind and they work hard to offer us the best experience. Particularly Camilla, the tour coordinator made the whole experience even better, as she was absolutely amazing with her positivity and kindness, and made you feel secure during the trip.
Have just spent a month in the travelteer house in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka. All round brilliant and rewarding experience with lots of amazing people, food and nature. I’d like to give camila, the tour guide and coordinator a special shout out for being so lovely and helpful throughout the entire trip and made things very easy and assisted happily with any queries or issues I had.
I spent 5 weeks with Travelteer, 4 of which volunteering on the mental health program. I throughly enjoyed the program as it was very insightful and I felt like I made a difference . I was able to visit a orphanage and build amazing relationships with the children. I also visited a psychiatric ward in the local hospital, where I could see first handily how patients were treated and also interact with them. The programme co ordinator Bernie couldn’t have been more helpful, if we favoured a certain program she would let us spent more time doing that. Moreover she was able to get people into surgery and watch neurosurgery. Overall the staff couldn’t have been better, extremely friendly and welcoming. I would do it all over again
I’ve had the best experience exploring Sri Lanka and volunteering on the marine and wildlife conservation programme. With Travelteer I’ve met so many people and made real friends for life. Sri Lanka I’d such an incredible country, and I feel like I’ve explored so much and learnt so much about the wildlife there. All the staff are so incredible. They’re all so kind and funny and work so so hard. They are always making sure everyone has the best experience possible and you can tell they genuinely care about their volunteers. Especially Camila, she was the coordinator on my Coast-2-Coast Tour, and I’m so glad she was! I always felt safe and comfortable with her in charge, she’s such a caring and fun person, everyone really connected with her on such a deeper level on the tour, I’ve definitely made a friend for life with her. She makes you feel so safe to come to her with any issues, or just to chat about anything. She really made the trip for me
Really valuable experience on the textile program! I spent three weeks volunteering on the textile program with travelteer and loved how flexible it was as well as feeling like I was really making a difference to the women I trained at the hope project. Seeing their confidence grow with each session was the best feeling ever! I only wish I could have spent more of the days teaching there although I did have some great experiences going to fabric shops, visiting a weaving work house etc.
An amazing company to volunteer with. Would 100% recommend.
The coast to coast programme is an amazing opportunity to experience the wonderful lifestyle and culture of Sri Lanka as well as enjoying a range of activities, but what makes the trip so special is the people. From the local people you meet on your programme, to the friends you make over the weeks, and Camilla makes experience truly unique and you leave feeling like one big family. Camilla had the experience well organised throughout our time together, Camilla consistently demonstrated exceptional qualities, such as her unwavering assistance, profound understanding, and impeccable organisational skills.
Five stars for camilla! She was more like a big sister than a tour coordinator and I felt like I could turn to her for any queries or advice.
I had an amazing time with Travelteer during the summer. I spent my time in the medical elective where I had once in a lifetime experiences being able to learn and take part in such a variety of interesting and unique activities. The exposure I had to the medical field was absolutely unmatched and my time spent was invaluable. This whole experience was made even better by the house and staff as well as the social activities and events available to us. All in all it was one of the best experiences I have had and I would highly recommend Travelteer to everyone. The family vibes and positivity makes the experience even better. Truly an amazing opportunity.

Jun 29,2023For my experience I did the coast to coast tour first, now 1 week left of my 4 weeks volunteering. I would highly recommend doing the tour first as part of the experience as it really does help when arriving at the travelteer house where there could be 50 people all in the house so having the friends you make on tour with you makes it less overwhelming and easier to settle in. For the tour itself we had such a great time and saw so many amazing things with the sweetest and kindest tour coordinator Camila she's such a treasure and so much fun and really looked after us. For the tt house part of the experience, it can be overwhelming at first when arriving at the house with so many new people all living together so allow yourself a week to feel settled in. We have amazing coordinators like Bernadette (Bernie) who look after you at the house and does an outstanding job of making sure everyone is happy and comfortable, she has such high integrity and balances fun and professional beautifully. For the volunteering experience the marine and wildlife conservation programme has been a truly wonderful life changing experience with my highest recommendations. Led by Anoma who I cannot thank enough for our experiences. He truly cares and has such passion for the conservation work in Sri Lanka, his depth of knowledge and dedication is truly inspiring, he goes out of his way to make sure every single volunteer gets the chance to experience all the best parts of the programme. Thank you everyone at travelteer for the memories I will treasure for a lifetime, I'm truly grateful and have so much love and respect for you all.
