It was an experience, there was a lot of things that i enjoyed about the volunteering and the house. You meet a lot of interesting people and you get to experience the foundation of the healthcare industry in Sri Lanka. However there were a few cons aswell the volunteering is nothing like what is advertised to you before you come, there a so many pointless rules that you have to follow in the house (e.g a curfew of 10:30 pm), and a some of the coordinators are not very understanding. My coordinators for mental health was awful and I really feel like travelteer would benefit if they looked into get someone else with more experience. They were many coordinators in the house that were also great like camaila, dinki and the manger ruchi, they made an effect and tried to make the experience as enjoyable for everyone in the house. Overall it was an experience and I meet amazing people and felt like I did something, I will never forget it. I still would recommend travelteer but I would advise that you also look for other places aswell something with a bit more structure/organised.
I quit my job and went for it; abroad I spend my time. To Sri Lanka I go, With Travelteer, to tour the land. The flow Expertly run by Camila, Dora (to those who know). We'd call the explorer To help us keep all entertained. She'd know Where to go everyday, help us when low We'd feel. In all, of her we were in awe. The marine programme was for me, the sea: Anoma's land. The turtles in their tanks, Unclean, we helped divest their dust. Their thanks They gave to volunteers, the beach we cleared Up too. The time I had I would repeat, So I say go for it and book your seat! Also, honourable shout out to Bernie for being amazing!
Honestly went into this programme being oblivious, just knowing I wanted to spend summer in a different country, and I’m so glad I went through with Travelteer, it has made the whole experience worth it. Everyone is so welcoming, helpful and I feel like I’ve come out of this experience with life long friends. Everyday was something new and exciting. I appreciated every second I was there and regretted leaving so soon. Staying for two weeks was not enough, and next time, I’m staying for more than a month. Nepal is so underrated, there is so much to explore and experience. In these two weeks, I have gone to help two schools (painting/ teaching kids/ playing games/ losing every game with kids), went up to a mountain village to build green houses, went out partying, meeting a lot of amazing/ funny people, played so much cards/ snooker, bit by leeches, made BFF’s with our beloved Paw - Khara (my fav💕), Tesco’s, Sainsbury’s and M&S (all dogs except M&S who is a frog), fed a dead spider/ dead moth to a frog, sprained my ankle, played in a stream, jumped into a lake, went to see amazing sceneries and ate a lot of amazing food. My favourite line an amazing person says (Paula👸) .. who else can say that ….. in Nepal, and I am one of the privileged ones to say that I can. I wouldn’t want it any other way. ❤️
Had an incredible time in Nepal! Thanks so much for organising everything Travelteer. I will be coming to Sri Lanka soon 😬
I have just finished four weeks in Sri Lanka with Travelteer and could not recommend it more. All the staff are a pleasure to be with and make you feel right at home. There is always activities and things to do while you’re not volunteering which means you’re never bored. I did the Sports Programme which I highly recommend. It was great fun to have a run around with the children and play sports everyday like cricket and volleyball. It was run by Vishwa who is the smiliest guy in Sri Lanka and was a great help with the sports lessons. And if you’re looking for some awful dances moves he’s your man. We did the coast to coast tour run by Camila which is well worth doing. She was always there to help and is the friendliest person you’ll meet. She brought the group together perfectly and I felt like I was leaving a good friend behind when I left. The tour was a great way to see the rest of the country while felt like I’d travelled as well as contributed to the volunteering. If you are looking for a good laugh with good people and a proper travelling experience of Sri Lanka then do this.
Camilla, one of the coordinators was amazing. As was Anoma on the Marine programme. Both very knowledgable and approachable. Always available to answer questions. Made the stay enjoyable
Genuinely couldn’t have had a better time out in Sri Lanka with Travelteer! They provide so many more opportunities than just volunteering - lots of activities, nights out and time to make true friends for life : ). The coordinators provide the perfect mix of friendship and guidance - Camila especially helped so so much, I wouldn’t have coped these past few weeks without her. If you’re considering coming out to do volunteering, definitely do it!
Anoma is amazing to work with, he knows so much about the wildlife and is always enthusiastic to answer questions and share his expertise! The tour was great fun, everyday is packed with activities and Nalin and Camila were fantastic throughout. Trekking though the jungle up to Ella Rock was a particular highlight. We almost got lost after getting separated from the group but Camila was with us every step of the way and even pointed out a wild python in the undergrowth!! Honestly Camila has been incredible, amazing, unreal this whole trip and I truly do not think that I would've had the positive experience that I have had without her.
I have just spent the last 4 weeks with Travelteer, participating in their sports development program. It was an incredible experience and one that I would highly recommend to anyone considering a Travelteer program! A big thank you to Camilla (aka Dora) who was our tour coordinator, and helped make the trip unforgettable for everyone involved! Also a mention to Vishwa, our sports coordinator, who ensured that every part of the program was fun and engaging! It has been an amazing trip, and I have made friends and memories that will remain with me forever. Sri Lanka, you will be missed!!
Had a great time in Sri Lanka, touring the country and working with turtles. The tour was mental, made so by Camilla who is Dora the explorer I think. Best tour guide ever! I want a tuk tuk please
I went to Nepal with travelteer in June and can't recommend it enough, Pokhara was unlike anywhere else I have been I thought I new Asia after my gap year in south east Asia I DID NOT, the culture was amazing and diverse, the wildlife was honestly insane (i thought rhinos were only in Africa oops). Pula the staff member was so enthusiastic i even felt pumped jet lagged on my first day and it was amazing to feel the help i was providing to a country that gave me such an amazing experience.
My time in Sri Lanka has been absolutely amazing. The coast 2 coast tour was definitely a highlight, ran by Camila. She does an incredible job, made the tour fun and was also a great support to anyone that needed it.
I spent 4 weeks in Sri Lanka, 3 volunteering and 1 week on tour. The tour was my favourite part, I can’t recommend it enough! Within a week I got to see and experience soo much of Sri Lanka, from climbing Sigiriya rock to Ella rock, surfing and so much more. Camila and Nalin were amazing on tour, they made the experience even better. All of the coordinators were great, they helped in any way they could but also bought their own energy to the house. The actual programme is great! I spent everyday teaching the children English, and creating fun and interactive lessons for each class. Dilanka is great she guides you through it but also gives you responsibility to take charge. Overall, the trip was the best thing I ever did, I had the most amazing time making memories and friends for life!
Great experience. Well organised.
Travelteer have provided me with an amazing trip involving a lot of different activities and experiences with a great bunch of coordinators. Bernie the house coordinator met us at the airport and since then she has been such a caring kind coordinator who taught me carrom and took me to Galle in her own time.
Where do i even start? On my first week with travelteer, i've had plastic surgery at galle hospital due to being elbowed in the face (not travelteer's fault), i lost my phone during a river safari, i forgot my wallet for the coast2coast tour and it's still one of the best experiences of my life. The staff are all amazing, especially Bernie who helped me settle in and taught me carrom. She also went out of her way to help me buy a new phone in galle even though she waited 3 hours in the hospital on the first week whilst i was getting stitches (sorry). Overall i've had an amazing time with travelteer ps bernie is the best :)
I had an amazing time in Sri Lanka doing their 4 month placement program doing Sports Development. The company gave great opportunities to immerse yourself into both the culture and the work. You were given the freedom to develop your skills in a foreign country and explore new methods of coaching that you may have not used before. The accommodation was nice but did feel cramped at times due to long durations of time spent there. It has a beautiful and convenient location and the area is very easy to navigate. It’s run very well and the staff are very helpful although things run a bit slower and are more spontaneous due to communication from so many party’s being involved in curtain aspects of the course. I would recommend this course as I anyone as I had an amazing time made lot of new friends and learnt so much about a country that had never previously been on my radar.
I came out to Sri Lanka with Travelteer for 4 weeks. I started with the coast2coast tour. It was one of the best weeks of my life! It’s packed with amazing activities, picturesque sightseeing and it was a great way to meet some of the other people I’d be living with for the next 3 weeks. The whole experience was made even better by the tour guide Camila. She instantly made you feel at home and was so helpful and friendly. After the tour I volunteered on the textiles programme. It was a great opportunity to feel like you’re making a positive impact on some of the local women’s lives. I had enough freedom to come up with lesson plans and source material for projects. I’d spend every morning teaching women to sew and being able to see their progress from never having used a sewing machine to being able to sew garments was so special. The only bad thing is having to say goodbye to the people I met :(
I’ve really enjoyed my time in Sri Lanka with travelteer. Camilla and Nalin made the tour such an amazing experience where I got to explore things that I would never have thought to have try such as hiking Ella rock and doing a safari. Anoma‘s marine programme has been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, with exploring rainforests, learning about caring for sea turtles in a hatchery/rescue and re plantation programmes for the local plant species. The staff at the site are amazing and so caring. Even when I’m missing home I still look forward to what’s happening tomorrow.

Jul 24,2023I was in Sri Lanka for four weeks doing the tour and then sports development program. The tour was jam-packed and incredible, with Camila making it so enjoyable. The volunteering was excellent, we got to visit different schools twice a day and teach them P.E. Vish ran this and was so energetic - he made the experience so much fun. Overall a great month, made truly epic by the amazing staff that shape the volunteering.
