Varsity Tutors followed through on finding me the right teacher for my needs - executive function skills after a TBI. (I'm now retired from my legal career) I'm also working on communication, ie speech and writing. It was a tall order for Varsity Tutors and I'm grateful to them for giving me my tutor.
I signed my daughter up for there elementary reading tutoring. The tutor canceled the first session and then never showed up for the second session. I called customer service and immediately requested to cancel my membership and requested a full refund which I was told I wasn’t allowed to get. So basically varsity tutor took $500.00 and never rendered service.
The respectfulness of the teacher and how she is always making sure that I know what I am doing so I can succeed in math.
Great tutor
Super good tutor! Very engaging!
El tutor fue muy amable con mis hijos al enseñarles sin embargo para alguien que ya tiene conocimiento del idioma es mucho más fácil aprender con el como tutor.
So I only looked into purchasing Varsity Tutors for Math-111 College-precalculus. I'm sure there are benefits to using them, but I'd only do it if your parents have money to spend on your education. Otherwise I'm finding great success with Solely.AI it provides in depth explanations for ~$36 a YEAR! $3.29/month. The reason I felt compelled to come on here and leave a review is because I wanted to let others know my experience of being "sold" varsity tutors. The sales people will talk your ear off and they use effective selling strategies, although I used to work in sales, at bike shops, so it was fun-selling not this predatory style. The person on the phone talks up all the benefits for 30 minutes straight and instills fear and urgency (common selling tactic "Create urgency") So just beware you may not appreciate the mind games they play with you. They ask questions to gain information they can use to leverage against you into paying for what seems like a very overpriced system. Maybe if they relied more in automation and not paying a sales-rep salary they could offer more competitive pricing. At $500/month for two one-hour sessions a week and unlimited access to their AI, I think I will stick to Solvely.AI and free tutoring at my university. I think Varsity Tutors could be a great tool for learning, but they need to leverage more technology to reduce their cost to offer affordable pricing, but I think they can get away with high-pricing because they rely on panicked students and/or money from parents. Conversely, I could probably offer one of the tutors at my schools tutoring center $25/hour twice a week and you're only talking $200 + $3.29 /month for essentially they same thing at less than half the price. They only pay their tutors $15 and hour from what I've read. In short, they can do better, and I'm fairly certain most people could patch together an effective tutoring system just as good as there's, but if you want convenience and expediency, go for it.
my child really enjoys the classes
BE AWARE: The email provided by Varsity Tutors in their response below does not exist! Don't waste your money. VT is overpriced for what it offers. Many of their tutors are located in India or the East Coast, which makes scheduling very challenging resulting in not being able to schedule the sessions you are paying for. The tutors sometimes do not confirm the session until the very last minute or just ignore it instead of rejecting it so you can find another time/tutor. Their online scheduling system is useless, the scheduling support, which is via text message is also useless. They send you to figure out schedules directly with your tutor, but the tutors and the schedulers do not communicate, so when one might say your session is confirmed, the other says the opposite. I ended up canceling my membership, they did not want to get a bad review, so they offered me to cancel but give me still the two sessions I had paid for but not received this month. They acted super nice and scheduled the sessions just to cancel them a few days later and leaving me with no way to reschedule them. I call this theft; they took my money but did not provide the service the promised. I have a trail of text messaged trying and failing to schedule my paid sessions. The quality of the tutors is a wide range, and you pretty much have to get lucky to get a good match. My son had a couple of sessions with two very good tutors, but they did not allow us to schedule again with them. Instead, they matched us with a tutor that just had him doing his math problems by himself, not explanation, no interaction, silence for 1 h. I can have my son doing his homework next to me for free. A tutor should be engaged. I am placing a formal complain to get my money back.
Semi-private and personal tutoring across multiple professional and personal education topics.
Lesly was a great tutor! We’ve been working together for the past 5 ish months! I was able to pass my NPTE exam after my 2nd attempt. She listens to what you need from her and helps you to tune into areas you might be lacking in. I would recommend her 1000x over! Thank you Lesly!!!!!
Tutor is very knowledgeable and my son is very comfortable and confident with the explanations from his tutor.
Mrs. Khadija H tedious straight forward observations of his needs/focus and knowing when he loses concentration of his studies and her self-motivation to motivate him and myself not to give up was a eye opener also she was more informative about questions I asked pertaining to his speech vowels, letters ,and words
A little pricy unless you subscribe.
My tutor is so helpful and helped me out more than expected ✔️👌
Very helpful with helping me critically think
The video and sound with the teacher constantly disappears. The screen is created very inconveniently. 70% of the screen is allocated for an incomprehensible space for drawing and typing, the remaining 30% of the screen is divided between the teacher's video and my video. It is almost impossible to see because the teacher's video is very small and does not take up the entire screen. It is impossible to see what the teacher writes on the board in such a small lump of a window for video.
My time using varsity tutors was great. My tutor Ashwin was amazing at teaching Fusion 360. He taught it in a way that I could process it.
This review is a replay of my first review of Varsity Tutors. I read carefully all the one star reviews, two star reviews & three star reviews, the common denomination is an apology from VT then suggest to contact them at the email provided on their answers - for starters this email doesn’t exist then, even when I asked VT to contact me (with the right email) THEY DO NOY REPLAY MY EMAILS !!! Trustpilot is an amazing way to review services. VT still scamming people.

Feb 10,2025If a zero rating or even a negative rating were available that is what this “service” honestly deserves. Every advertised service did not happen. Complete waste of time and money. 1. Tutors are not matched to students. Students list their available hours and tutors sign up based on who has open time. Tutors are not vetted to make sure their ability matches the need. Tutors are not assigned-there is no such person coordinating any of this. 2. No individualized plan at any point. I asked for the individual who is supposed to be doing this and noone could answer the question. The only answer I got is each tutor would be responsible for doing that. How can this happen when random people sign up to tutor on an ongoing basis? Nothing consistent. I also asked for the individualized plan and it didn’t exist. 3. Skill level of tutors did not at any point match needs. A journalism major with no math background signed up to tutor trigonometry, a 9th grade math teacher also signed up for the same thing and admitted she could not teach beyond 9/10 grade math. These are only two examples. We signed up for high level language and math skills/techniques to boost SAT scores and got nothing matching that. 4. We signed up for a specific number of sessions and ran into the same scam regarding auto renewals. This was never communicated on the front end of the contract. Every single step along the way was a complete and utter hassle and we wasted alot of time and money. I would recommend going somewhere-anywhere else.
