Excellent course
Norwich Centre, everyone was extremely helpful and patient at all times, very understanding of any mistakes made and they were genuinely pleasant to be around.
5Day con. After lots off let down and cancellations due to covid (which we understood and found perfectly normal) we were really pleased to know that our daughter had started her 5Day course. At the time it was understood that the course would be 5 days (but in reality 4.5 days as last day she was allowed to go home at lunchtime!) and then a Driving test at the end but it wasn’t explained about the what if she’s not ready? This is if the Student is not ready to take the test then you don’t get put forward and you do not get the FREE correction lessons as you never took a test so it never happen. After that you have no communication from 5Day but your instructor who kindly will take additional lesson on Saturdays at an additional £60 for 2 hrs as you are “almost ready “ 5 day then drop her like a stone and she is on her own with the 5Day instructor that now becomes independent. How can that happen and 5Day takes the money and no responsibility with no follow up communication etc. Is it the fact the student is not ready or that the instructor is a bad instructor? Either way how do you prove that or when lost in the system and con you are expected to just accept. Going forward she has taken up the additional lessons because what choice does she have?? which at an additional £600 later the instructor then makes whatever excuses for not to turning up. Got a head ache, got a puncture, got to leave the car at the garage, got a cold, got a wedding etc etc but yet we have seen them on that day driving. Strange that or is it just part off the con. You teach them badly from the 5 days, then take some money from them after and then like 5Day drop them into the ocean and dismiss responsibility when in fact the con goes on with the next punter!!!! What a horrible way to run a business and taking peoples hard earned money. She has just started an apprenticeship and paying all lessons with the little money she earns, working her socks off 5 days a week. I will be taking this further to trading standards, BBC or who ever with listen. If you have also had the same bad experience then please follow suit and get this con stopped as a lot more parents and kids will carry on being conned.
Amazing experience at the St Helens 5Days branch. Would recommend to anyone. Graham and Chris where very friendly and will push you for the best scores possible.
The website is very misleading. I gave a good review with regard to 5days questions at the end of the course, but wish that I hadn't. My instructor was reasonably good. The site however, does not mention that you only get 20 hours of driving time at a cost of 40 hours. I expected atleast 30 as I never expected so much time to be spent on theory, that I was passing on the first day. DVLA says that 20 hours of driving is no where near enough to be test ready. I may well report the site to the Advertising Standards Agency, if I can find the time. I likely would have done better research if it wasn't for worry's about waiting times and Covid. They say that they have a fast booking service that you can re-use, but it took months and they do not mention the re-booking charges above a test cost and high car hire prices. I am lucky that I had a car to use, Many instructors will not lend out theirs without giving lessons first. My 5day instructor wanted £250 to use his car for a second test, because the test centre was a 20 minute drive away. I found a test quicker myself in the end and thankfully passed. I also have a friend who had a cold and so had to isolate. She received no refund WHATSOEVER for 20 hours at a 40 hour price. You are better off finding an instructor that offers an intensive course themselves. Response: _______________________________________________ "you gave the course 5/5 every day with no issues reaching test standard at the end of the week." I certainly wanted to be put in for the test but was not at a standard of likely passing and had never passed a mock test. I had to book extra lessons and luckily had a car to take long drives with family and friends. _______________________________________________ "we are somewhat surprised as the website especially the videos do state the hours in the class and on the road" The website does not contain the text "20 hours" anywhere. I do not know of any video that you refer to. _______________________________________________ "Due to the vast backlogs with test and especially large waiting list for test in the Birmingham area we found you a test in October which you unfortunately failed." It took you 4 months to book a test that was meant to be "75% faster" than the 6 month waiting list, yes. It took me two weeks, thankfully. _______________________________________________ "You were offered a retest service or the free correctional lessons both of which you never took up." The re-test with surprising costs (hidden behind a jotformpro.com link) Restest: £62 Booking Fee: £25 Car Hire: £60 To be clear the "correctional lessons" are also a little misleading with car icons etc., though your site does state that they are classroom only. Considering this point was stressed on the course. I am sure many have been mislead. Edit: The site does state that driving correctional lessons are provided. The value of this, however appears greater than it is as only the specific failure reason will be dealt with and not your overall practical ability. _______________________________________________ "If you use the 5Day vehicle through 5Day on a retest the vehicle is only £60 (inc vat). Unfortunately you did not take up this option." If I book your test with your fees, then I still have to pay quite a high price for a vehicle usage of one to two hours, correct! "5day do not "out pupils in for test" it is the pupils choice when to apply therefore we have to assume you felt ready to apply" Well again this is being disengenuous. Your instructor has to clear you for the first test. There would be little point in not doing so, whether fully competent or not. Due to the long waiting list and also the fact that you would have to pay more money, like I did to get upto standard in the meantime anyway. Again as DVSA data shows, 20 hours of practical driving, is far less than an average person requires. With such a long test waiting list. It is especially important to get good value for your money and get plenty of practical lessons directly with an instructor at £30 per lesson, instead of £60. 5day may make sense if you are really struggling with the theory but then most of the time is spent alone on the tablet app anyway. Links are not allowed by trust pilot, but the RAC site also states. "The average learner driver requires around 45 hours of lessons before being test-ready, but everyone learns at different rates."
I would highly recommend 5 day, the teaching of the theory has been absolutely fantastic and my instructor has been brilliant I have learnt so much and feel much more confident
Emilio was a very clear and concise teacher, patiently and proudly teaching us all the information we need to know about the theory and hazard perception. I would definitely recommend people who have been struggling with their theory to come here for help, and off course the intensive driving course is good too.
ABSOLUTE RIP OFF, Booked with 5day for my daughter because she had been ready for her test before lockdown, I foolishly thought that as they advertised intensive driving and priority test this was a good idea. She took a weeks course in July and still hasn't had a test date despite regular calls to the School. Unfortunately and surprisingly the course was great and she had an excellent quality instructor it's your admin that is a scam. I feel sorry for the instructors. As she is a student and lives in central london she has no opportunity or money to keep her driving practice up. So the huge amount paid for a 5 day intensive is an absolute SCAM. book at your own peril. And my advice in future is book your test the book intensive driving to fit in. Otherwise your just lining the pockets of a no commitment driving school.
I had an instructor called Mick and he helped me pass both My theory and practical test. He is an incredible man with tonnes of experience and really easy to get on with. He is and will give you 100% if you are willing to commit 100%. My experience with five day and Mick was one of the best choices I have made not only did I gain a life skill I gained a friend well worth doing
If you know how to start a car and how it works, They will teach you the rest. Don’t expect to go there and to get handed a license cause you have to be hard working and dedicated. Basset ma driving instructor from 5Day Birmingham center was the best and most helpful guy ever. he knows how to proper teach you the ins and outs of driving and road safety, and would teach you everything you need to know for you to drive and to pass your test and get a driving license. He is the most helpful and upfront instructor I’ve met so far. Couldn’t say one bad thing about him, apart from that he is top man and am absolute legend. He’s so dedicated to his job and to making you ready for your test and to be road worthy. 10/10 would highly recommend. Ps passed ma theory first time 48/50 Hazard perception 67/75 Don’t think I would have done it without basset cause he has such high standards for his students.
Had a great experience on the 5day course, all the instructors you interact with are lovely (big softies) and super personable. My own instructor Pwi-Ha Li, bless her, persevered throughout the week to get me driving to a solid standard - from what had only been 6 hours of experience over a couple of years(!). I can’t recommend Pwi highly enough as an instructor, she’s clear, supportive, and fun to be around - she’s been teaching for over 20 years and I trust her judgement implicitly on when she thinks I’m ready to start prepping for a test. Frankly, you’d be lucky to be assigned to her. I’ll be taking a few more hours privately to refine and tweak some parts of my driving but I’ll then be in touch with 5day to arrange my evaluation & practical test. Exciting!
5Day were great to learn to drive with. There is a combination of classroom based theory and practical driving. This helps as it gives you a chance to apply the things learnt in the classroom on the road. And to discuss with the teacher anything that you are curious about after being on the road. My instructor was very diligent and really schooled me in all of the techniques. He helped me to feel confident of not just passing the test but of being a safe and capable driver on the road. During covid things have meant the wait for tests is up to 24 weeks but 5 day are able to secure tests via cancellations so you can get through the whole process much more quickly. If you want to pass in the shortest time possible I highly recommend 5Day and the west London branch.
Emilio was brilliant. Tony my instructor was also really great. Would recommend. Best best best. Be warned though: don’t expect to do your practical test at the end of the week of learning. You can’t book your practical until you’ve passed your theory so it just isn’t possible (especially with COVID.)
Course tutor was nice, I enjoyed the theory side of things. However, on my first day my instructor fell asleep in the passenger seat and dropped his clip board whilst I was driving. Scary experience for a 17 year old who has never drove a car before 🚗 It got brushed off and given a new instructor and nothing more was said about it… Ended up doing more hours with an independent driving instructor, which was much preferred. If your learning from scratch, 5 day is not the one got you.
Update - Started the course on June 28th, it is now 4 1/2 months later and still no response to when my practical test will take place. SCAM. AVOID AT ALL COST.
5 day is not quite accurate to begin with. Students do not drive for 5 full days and the course syllabus isn't advertised clearly on the website. They may have good teachers but you will also find a private instructor sooner. Driving is for 4 hours a day in the morning totalling 20 hours for the week, and afternoons are spent in a classroom working on your own, learning the theory questions. You're literally paying to sit alone doing what you could do at home. That works out at £55 per hour of lessons. Such is the backlog due to the pandemic, there was a 5 month wait to get on the course. I was ready to take my test after the week of driving but there is also a wait for tests (during which refresher lessons are needed $$$). 5Day book last minute tests from cancelations on the DVLA website (the same as you could do yourself) so it's not guaranteed how long you will be waiting. I would advise to do the same privately; book a test yourself and find an instructor from recommendations. DVLA tests can be moved or cancelled if you're not ready yet, but if you book by the time you're ready you'll be waiting another few months.
Personally, I received an excellent experience in my journey in becoming a competent driver. First of all, I would like to give many thanks to the test department who managed to find me a test date much quicker than the national average. Which I cannot explain how helpful that was as it was critical for me to pass my driving test for my job. Principally, I have to thank Raf who was my driving instructor from the Sutton Coldfield branch. He is without a doubt an exemplary instructor and it is evident that he is knowledgeable. Raf has set the standard and has defined how an accomplished driving instructor can transfer knowledge to new drivers. He taught me not only how to pass the test but how to become a confident and aware driver on the road. In a short space of time, I had gone from being nervous before a lesson to actively enjoying the learning experience. Raf went above and beyond in helping me to succeed in passing my test especially as I lived out of his normal teaching area. I hope that 5Day realise what an exceptional instructor that they have with Raf - he is most certainly one of a kind and he has warm personality and even when I was nervous I could also trust that he would be able to help me with what I was struggling with. Once again I just want to thank everyone that helped me in my journey in becoming a driver; and I will always be grateful for Raf.
Found the course very comfortable and easy to understand. The instructors where polite, easy to get on with inside the classroom and In the car. Julian Austin was a good instructor for myself. Polite and patient with my learning. Much improved from day 1 to day 5. Much recommend

Dec 10,2021Booked a course for my son for early August 2021. STILL, yes, STILL, waiting for a ‘fast track’ practical test. Need I say more?
