Feb 16,2025Ordered a £200 hoover for my dad and had it delivered to his address. Missed that a code had to be given on devliery so DPD took it back to the depot and said they would return the next day. Gave my dad the code and he waited in all day and they didn’t return. No updates sent to my email or by text. Could have been clearer throughout re need for the code and we should have been updated about redelivery days and times. Now day three past original date and no updates. But of a farce really.

Feb 16,2025It was disappointing, there was no knock on the door and I have a knocker front & side. Although I will say they placed in in the back, very thankfully, because that is where our Washing Machine lives. Fortunately our son is a qualified Electrician with my husband now acting as assistant/foreman. We never at any point expected them to connect otherwise would have paid the money.

However, the couriers did not unwrap the packaging and take it away, which was a service that I had paid for. Appliances Direct quickly paid a refund without fuss.

Feb 16,2025Bought this AEG appliance to replace my built-in Electrolux which has broken down after just over 10 years old. I was limited on choice due to the size and space I had to make it fit. I also notice after this time that most of these appliances nowadays don’t have the same features, and it seems like you’re getting less – fewer shelves, fewer freezer drawers, smaller litres. I also do not like the trend of moving the bottom door drawer up to make room for larger salad drawers. Anyway, this AEG was almost exactly the same design as my old fridge freezer, and I did not want to lose space – minimum 4 fridge shelves and 4 freezer drawers, 3 door drawers, no stupid wine rack. Not the cheapest available but I want a decent make. I went for the low frost version rather than frost free, again so as not to lose space. Delivery was good, friendly driver and care taken. I did not buy any additional delivery or fitting services so it was literally just putting it into the house. The instructions for fitting were reasonably good, although a bit of improvising and working out were needed. First had to swap the doors to the other side, this was quite straightforward. My tip would be switch it on as soon as you can to get the freezer working. All in all, the fitting took a few hours. It is a spacious machine on the inside, which is exactly what I was looking for. The light in the fridge is bright and it runs nice and cold. I’m knocking off a star for a couple of negative points: It feels thin/light/unsubstantial, which worries me a little about longevity. They supplied star screws for the fixings which are non-standard, making it more difficult to fit. And the worst bit, having to use a hammer and nail (supplied) to puncture holes into the metal skin on the side of the doors to affix to my kitchen cupboard doors using the sliding hinges – I mean, come on, this is 2025, can’t we do better?
