Barbour is a family-owned British heritage brand, established in 1894 in the North East of England. They are renowned for their practical and stylish, outerwear, clothing, accessories and footwear. Forever synonymous with the British countryside, Barbour’s collections span from the best practical country clothing to fashion-forward lifestyle collections. To this day Barbour’s ranges continue to be inspired by the company’s archives which date back to 1910 and each season classic designs are re-interpreted into modern, contemporary silhouettes.
I've purchased a number of Barbour items over the last few years and the standard of product quality has been excellent. On the one occasion recently that I found a fault with one of my items (a pair of Chelsea Boots), Robin in Barbour's customer service team could not have been more helpful and resolved the situation for me in double quick time. I can't recommend this company enough.
I used to really appreciate the quality of Barbour but its not the company it used to be - the quality of the jackets (especially Beaufort) became dramatically poor (no YKK zippers anymore, poor materials, poor workmanship etc.)! It´s not only a sad but annoying fact!
Ordered online. The shipping company left package outside my house from where it was stolen. Phoned Barbour, not their problem and the shipping company blamed me, so I’m out of pocket. Lousy customer service.
Excellent cutomer service - I left my son's Barbour and my own too at the Bicester Village Barbour shop and both of our coats were like new when I collected them on Thursday - really good quality repairs too
Awful, awful customer service!! I bought a quilted jacket, wore it 3 times and the poppers came off. Contacted them to return it- instantly they made me aware I can't have a refund........ They received my coat back and admitted the manufacturing fault. Still cannot get a refund due to the tags not being on and they cannot resell-IT IS FAULTY!! They offered me to swap for another coat, but I don't want to make do with another coat that is not my first choice and what if the same happens again?! Still in debates with them and have contacted my credit card company who have passed this onto the dispute team. No way am I buying anything from Barbour again. You would think their customer service would be first class when you discover faulty goods!
Barbour Shop, Grand Central, Birmingham. Staff were more interested in having a chat than helping me. I wasn’t approached in 20 mins of browsing an otherwise empty store.
Pretty poor for such a big company, sold me something that wasnt in stock, told me they'd give me 15% discount as i clearly need to replace the item they sold me, still waiting, long waits on the phone, no clarity on dispatch dates, 6 days ago i placed the order, still no sign of them shipping it, unacceptable
I own 2 Barbour International jackets. One I have had for 5 years and a new jacket I have had for just 1 month. Absolutely love these jackets. Great fit, warm dry and stylish. Can’t recommend enough.
I purchased a winter weight waxed jacket in the summer ready for winter use. Today it was 8C and a light mist coming in from the sea, but no rain. After about a mile I could feel my arms damp, and when I went indoors to check, my jumper was damp and the lining of the sleeves soaking wet! My walking trousers were bone dry, but the waxed jacket had simply soaked up the moisture from the air (it was not raining). I have emailed customer care but all I can say is, this is £250 of junk. It is clear there is no wax coating on the supposed waxed jacket. A previous Barbour used to get water droplets on it if the jacket got wet. I called Barbour and they are clearly aware of this problem. They said it is the nylon sleeve lining, and told me it would cost me £35 to have the nylon replaced with cotton. As this is new, I refused point blank to pay, so they then offered to send me a prepaid bag for a free repair. I have worn this jacket a number of times and this is the first time this has happened. I layer my clothes so had a thin long sleeved T-shirt which had dry sleeves when I removed the coat, but the thin jumper I had on top had damp sleeves. The sleeve lining of the jacket was so wet I had to turn the sleeves inside out to dry them. Barbour say it is because the sleeves can’t breathe. Why manufacture such a useless outdoor coat? It was a cold day and I certainly wasn’t warm in it. Time will tell if lining replacement solves the problem, but a quick google revealed this is a common problem with Barbour jackets.
I bought a Barbour coat for 279 pounds about 6 weeks ago. I have worn it probably less than 12 times. The rubber yellow Barbour label on outside of jacket left arm is starting to fall off already. Also every time I wear my crossover shoulderbag and take the bag off the fur trim on the hood partially disconnects, and I have to reattach it every time. Given this is my first Barbour purchase I'm shocked at the poor quality of the coat. You would get better quality in primark, genuinely. Given the reviews here I don't know if I can be bothered with the hassle of trying to get it repaired or replaced given it'll probably just cost me more money and I'll also be without a winter coat for a period of time. Will never be buying Barbour again, shocking quality.
Sent my faulty wax jacket back, thread started peeling away in 2 areas of the coat. I had the coat for less than a year. Hardly wore it outside. Coat had loss it Wax, which staff had identified therefore under 12 month warranty replaced it with a brandnew. Therefore it’s only fear I give a true honest outcome!!
Less than two years ago bought a blue Barbour jacket with 'liberty' fabric trim. Looked nice to start with but now it's as if it's rubbed away in places with holes all over, they are saying they want to see it and there will be a charge for reproofing (that I haven't even asked for) and repair !!! Repair of their shoddy unsuitable lining material that's like tissue paper and that I'll have to pay for as the coat is only guaranteed for a year, even though it was bought from old house of Fraser with two year guarantee but new house of Fraser won't honour - shoddy !
I have several Barbour garments (jackets, hats, gloves etc.) and they're all great so I am not sure whey they have such a poor rating here. I recently sent them my beloved Beaufort jacket to lengthen the ridiculously short sleeves (only complain I have about this fabulous jacket) and got excellent service and comms by Barbour Customer Care, the job was done well and delivery one week before the stated time. Only issue - not living in the UK - I had to pay 15 euro postage, another 15 return postage, and another 15 for the bank transfer payment (they don't take Paypal). So 45 euro extras for a 25 euro job (!) which is not their fault.
Excellent customer service. Had an issue with some wellies which started to leak. Customer service team responded quickly to my query and arranged for a pre paid bag to be sent out so they could inspect the wellies. They then sent a new replacement pair within a few days.
I have always liked Barbour - I love the outdoors and I love British style I and the family own quite a few items of Barbour clothing I bought a coat in July, a Barbour International waterproof - I love the coat with a passion and have worn it maybe 20 times over the summer At the price. and given the outdoor brand, I expect to be able to use the coat outdoors. I have owned many North Face coats and this Barbour was almost a light summer version of that type of coat.......... Right? Anyway, it’s started to bobble in some areas - this cannot be normal for an outdoor jacket - a bobbling waterproof jacket? A jacket that should be hard wearing for outdoor use? Right? I thought I’d better investigate I got in touch with Barbour, I sent the coat back for them to look at and the response I have just received to my amazement is that I must have rubbed the coat against something to cause the bobbling - I.e, I Might have used the coat outdoors???!! It’s my fault!!!!??? Nothing to do with using rubbish inappropriate material for an outdoor coat?! The best thing was I didn’t ask for a refund, the reason I got in touch with Barbour direct was that I was convinced there must be something wrong with the material and they would just agree to replace it - after 4 months of weekend use!?!?!?!?? Anyway, I’ve learned my lesson here, not the brand they seem to be and certainly no where near the type of service one would expect from a classic British brand - if you want an outdoor coat, go to North Face/Jack Wolfskin/Patagonia - do not be fooled by the facade of Barbour Thanks Barbour before I spend any more money with you
Received 5 star treatment from the Customer Care Team from my initial email concerning my faulty jacket filling through to a satisfactory resolution. Speedy response, professional and full understanding of the issue from all concerned. Thank you Barbour
Very poor customer service. Had to raise PayPal case to get refund of item returned. One of the worst online shopping experiences I've had. Shame as the products are usually good! Do not buy direct!
Me and my sister brought a Barbour jacket as we have started to live on a narrowboat. Today it rained all day and by the time we took our jackets off we was absolutely soaked through both our jumpers was ringing wet. Please don't tell me to wax them as they were brand new 😞
I ordered some Barbour Umber boots online and had them delivered to the Covent Garden store for collection. I traveled from Surrey to pick them up. On arrival the assistant ripped open the packaging so I could try them on,the box had Umber written on it, but had Hickory style inside the box. I explained I didn’t want them as they where not what I ordered. She told me they couldn’t return them even though they where wrong. I had to take them home and return them myself for a refund. Very poor customer service with no apologies. DONT ORDER ONLINE.
