I am a 75 year old pensioner. I have rented my domestic line from Chess for some years despite receiving very poor customer service. I live in a rural location and we have just been told that our house can be connected to fibre broadband. I was convinced by the customer services team that despite my previous poor treatment it would be "different this Time" I placed an order for broadband to be installed. I was told that a contract would follow for me to sign. Indeed two incorrect contracts were sent I signed neither of them. I got fed up with no one contacting me when they said they would, so I cancelled the order. Well within the statutory cooling off period. I have now received a bill for £1576.37 I have disputed this but they dont listen. No installation date was agreed and no service provided. We are not a business. Just a domestic dwelling. Do not use this company as all they want is your money.

Just had all of our phone lines installed by Chris Smith. Have known him for a few years and he is the only reason we are still with Chess really. Very helpful and sorts out everything we need quickly

Avoid this company at all costs. Five years ago I asked to change my annual account to a virtual number - what they didn’t tell me was they also made it a five year contract.- this wasn't mentioned on the sales call at all and hidden in the website terms and conditions.. Unable to leave without paying massive costs and despite having to pause my business for 2 years during a family bereavement I finally came to the end of my contract in July 2023. Now they say it automatically transfered to a 30 day notice monthly contract and I have been charged partially for august despite numerous emails from me explaining I will be leaving at the end of July when my contract naturally expired anyway. Their last email stated this was their final stance so i have decided to leave this review as i have no other options
I found your engineer Chris Smith to be very efficient and helpful. He explained clearly how the new phones work and he also went the extra mile to make sure my ancient laptop was still functioning with the new system!
Horrible company was with them for nearly 10 years now chasing for extra payments now we have left And that’s a year later Please avoid

I have been with Chess for many years & in that time I have been very happy with their service. Their rates are competitive & the help they have given has been first rate. Happy to recommend. My recent dealings with Kerryann at Chess have been excellent - she was very helpful.
Issue was sorted promptly and thoroughly, Michael fenton was really nice and really informative, explaining what he was doing etc. sorted everything out and got me back up and running. I have dealt with Michael before and he is always so helpful and efficient.

Poor quality broadband service provided, slow speeds and poor customer care. Tied into a 5 year contract we did not want and couldn't get out of without paying exorbitant fees. Over charged monthly for a poor quality service. Customer care was non existing, you had to spend hours on the phone to actually talk to someone who offered no solution to the problem. After 60 months I cancelled the direct debit to them and thought that was end to it but no they are now chasing us for more money (one month plus admin charges, non direct debit fees and vat) and have passed 'the debt' to a a debt collector!! Ridiculous and appalling way to treat customers who have paid over the odds for a poor service for 5 YEARS!!!!
