Oct 04,2024This was our first escorted tour and I am already looking for our next. Firstly, Mo our guide was amazing. He knew so much, took us to the sites at the best time of the day, broke up long journeys with rests for us oldies, and is such a happy, fun man. Thanks Mo. Secondly, we were a group of 5. I think due to the unrest in the Middle East people are put off from visiting Jordan. Their loss, our gain. Lovely travel companions, quiet sites and a small group allowed flexibility to the itinerary to make the most of the time available. Jordan - a fantastic place! Hot, even in September, & genuinely friendly people. Cox and Kings manage to squeeze in all the best sites in a week, makes for a busy schedule and early mornings but worth every minute. Best bits - Little Petra, Jerash & Dead Sea. From our balcony at the dead sea we could see across to Jericho, Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

Sep 30,2024Harris, our guide, was excellent and was very informative about Greek history and culture. The small group size (9) meant that we got to know our fellow travellers, also we could keep together among the crowds at the Parthenon and other tourist sites.

Sep 29,2024We`ve recently returned from a wonderful trip to China. I can`t pretend it wasn`t exhausting (we`re both 80+) but it was all worth it for all that C & K squeezed in. Our tour guide, Hawk, should be cloned - he was truly amazing - and James from the London office who came along to check up on how things were going on this tour proved extremely helpful in all sorts of ways. We also had the bonus of local guides as well, so our group of 14 was very well cared for. It helped of course that we liked everyone too! This was very much a "bucket list" trip for us both and C & K didn`t disappoint. They included everything that we`d hoped to see in this massive country. A real bonus was the visit to a practically empty part of the Great Wall - lovely that we didn`t have to jostle with loads of others for photos. Whether or not we have the energy for another Long Haul trip remains to be seen, but if we do C & K will be our preferred company for an itinerary.

Sep 25,2024From start to finish my holiday was amazing and exceeded my expectations. James, the Senior Travel Consultant was thorough, helpful and efficient when I booked the holiday and optional excursions. I loved China and I was fortunate to be part of a group of fourteen lovely, friendly and like minded people. This was a comprehensive tour of China with a well thought out itinerary and a lot of wonderful sightseeing. We were very lucky to have Hawk as Tour Manager. He is one of the best Tour Managers I have travelled with and was outstanding, professional and had exceptional interpersonal skills. All the Local Guides were excellent, professional and knowledgeable. As a Solo Traveller I can highly recommend this holiday as on a Cox and Kings holiday you are travelling with a small group of friendly, like minded people. In China I felt very safe going out on my own or with friends in the group and was able to enjoy the excursions at my own pace. If you haven't yet visited China this could be the holiday of a lifetime.

Sep 23,2024From the initial contact to Cox and Kings with Ewa a specialist in South America travels who ensured I was aware of all the potential options on the Train to Machu Pichu - luxury tour and some of my quirks of being a single traveller being accommodated. I arrived in Peru and was met as per schedule by our tour manager and driver which was an amazing twelve days of experiences which will last a life time. Marco our tour manager was one of the best tour managers I have had the privilege to know. I have seen Condors, Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo, Titicaca lake, Sacsayhuaman, Monasteries and churches, met some wonderful people, great quality hotels and an amazing train journey - the Andean Explorer. Long haul flights in comfort and on time.

Sep 18,2024Solo traveller . First time experience of this company . Cox & Kings perfectly nice people with zero administrative capability . They happily took my money for a holiday that they then managed to forget to book despite an email thread discussing the holiday dates and confirmation . This was only discovered when I chased them for the documents a few weeks before departure . I was offered alternative dates despite telling them four times over two different phone calls that I wanted a full refund . Though every cloud has a silver lining and mine was relief their incompetence was discovered here in the UK and not in the middle of the trip. Definitely won’t be using this company again

Sep 10,2024This review is really only concerned with a chap called Magdy, our C&K rep in Cairo. He was excellent and exactly the sort of reason one should use an agency like C&K. Everything else was great - but I paid enough to expect to get decent treatment, and I did. However Magdy went the extra mile and made Cairo a wonderful experience for us.

Sep 09,2024Admin before travelling - once Cox & Kings had my money getting information out of them was like getting blood out of a stone. Multiple emails then finally response full of apologies but no improvement. Very disappointing. Additionally I asked (and they confirmed) that my temporary restricted mobility was passed to the local guides together with dietary requirement. This did not happen - they had no idea until the guide in the first city passed it back and then it was promulgated.

Aug 28,2024Matthew Rees and Max Hogben did an excellent job. There had been an initial confusion whereby we had been identified as requiring disabled facilities. Matthew sorted this out. They arranged the superior room upgrades and the tour extension. They listened to us, rather than making assumptions, and then tailored the holiday to our requirements. Excellent service, Thank you.

Aug 28,2024I went on a tour of the Baltic States with them. Whilst the logistics were seamless, and the sites visited beautiful, very little was done to bring the group together and this was regrettable. It took me five days to find out the name of one participant and we were only a dozen people on the tour. There was no welcome drink the first evening, no introductions were made. The first official tour day we had an afternoon of “free time” followed by a full free day the next day, meaning that as a solo traveler, I was on my own most of the first 48 hours! We also had a new guide in each of the three countries we visited, in effect changing guides every 1 to 2 days, so again, we didn’t really get a chance to become acquainted with our guides. More could have been done to bring the group together and it would have been nice to have one tour coordinator for the whole trip.

Jul 18,2024The tour itself was good and Mario the guide was excellent. Very pleasant with everyone and very knowledgeable. The excursions were good and fairly exclusive. Some in particular were not typical tourist trips but were much better. Although the hotels were of a good standard the location of them made it difficult to go anywhere out of the hotel. Given that only one dinner was included we expected to be able to walk to other restaurants but the hotels were so isolated it was not possible unless we organised taxis. We were forced to eat in the hotel which in the second hotel wasn’t a particularly good experience as they were seemingly understaffed and staff were trying to serve weddings and functions as well as other guests. Although dinner was included on the first night and we were asked if we had allergies a fish restaurant was not a good choice. Many people didn’t like fish certainly shellfish and Mario was then having to sort this out.

Jul 18,2024Our guide Mario was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable, caring and a really good communicator. First class. Our first hotel, Tenuta Centoporte (a 4*) hotel was 5* in all respects - peaceful, smiling and helpful staff, excellent breakfasts, very good restaurant for dinner, lovely pools - excellent in all respects. Our second hotel, by contrast (Tenuta Monacelle) was very disappointing and poor - bathroom smelt, shower fittings falling off the wall, extremely surly service at breakfast and dinner (except one dark-haired lady who was helpful), poor breakfast - e.g fruit not replaced when finished and the reluctant to refill - very poor food at dinner. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Two nights extremely noisy at dinner as loud parties (incl karaoke) going on just above us. Could not wait to leave !! See my Tripadvisor review.

The sights we visited were well explained. Transport was always there on time, clean and tidy. The food included in the trip was always interesting and good. 100%
