Jan 13,2025Used Farewill to write one for my 82-year old mother who didn't want the fuss though recognised the need for a will. Sorting the details out through the website was relatively easy (simple bequest proposals helped) and within 10-15 minutes it was ready. Then the problems came. First, a call from my mother to Farewill was required as part of due diligence checks. No problem with that. However, following the call they refused to issue a will as my mother wasn't at the computer with me when I wrote the will (we live in distant cities) despite verifying that these were her wishes. Plus, she would have had to sign the will to confirm these details so there was another check there. Complete waste of time particularly as they are an online company but don't allow distant will making on behalf of the testator. I also had difficulty logging in with the constant statement that my password or email was invalid. I could never get a reset email l and had never changed my email address so this was extremely irritating. Wasted a few hours of my life dealing with this. My mum, fortunately, wasted less time but still doesn't have an up-to-date will.

Jan 11,2025When our mum died she was very clear that she didn’t want a funeral or a service and simply wanted to be cremated and for us to each choose a piece of jewellery made from her ashes (which we are doing with Hand on Heart Jewellery). So we needed to find a direct cremation service. I found Farewill, and they have been excellent: caring, respectful, efficient and very reasonably priced. They collected our mum from the hospital and took her into their care until they could arrange the cremation. We were told the date of the cremation and that we would get the ashes soon after. I chose a lovely simple wooden urn and we got the ashes a few days later from a local funeral director. They also gave us the option of choosing a tree to plant in memory of mum and an engraved plaque for the tree. Well, the Pear Tree sapling arrived today and it was so beautifully presented. I don’t know what I expected but the whole thing was just lovely. All of this service from them was only £1250 and I can’t recommend Farewill highly enough if you have to arrange similar for a loved one. It took the pain and hassle out of an already traumatic experience and I am so grateful. I know none of us want to think about these things but sadly we all have aging parents if we are still lucky enough to have them alive so it is something we probably need to consider at some point. Robyn the coordinator from Farewill was fantastic throughout and I can’t thank her enough.
