Stay away from this company. Their cancellation process makes it harder for a user to cancel an account. Most hosting companies offer a single step form to request a cancellation, and it can be set to "Immediately" or by the "End of the Billing Period". Not GG, they make you fill out a multi-steps form, and you MUST do it specifically 5 days before the renewal date, or your plan will be renewed again. Edit after GG's reply: Not true. #1) There is no option to set the cancellation to "Inmediately" or "End of billing Period". # 2) You clearly state in the link you shared that "To Prevent Automatic Account Renewal If you intend to cancel your account or stop the renewal of the account, you must submit a cancellation request form seven (7) business days before the account renewal date." #3) If you really want to be transparent, why don't you add those two options to your cancellation form and make things easier for customers?
I am really wondering where does this good rating come from? I have the worst experience with GreenGeeks. Although the support team promptly reply the ticket, bey they are really inefficient. 1- I purchased a VPS from GreenGeeks with their high price in the hope of a good experience. The first shock is that you cannot use your VPS without a domain!!! So I had to transfer my domain from previous registrar (while I was not really interested to, because of their ridiculously high price again). It took 9 days (seriously!!) to get the domain transferred. Although on the paper this job might take up to 7 days, but most of the times it's done in less than a day. 2- After the domain is transferred, it's time to create an account to be able to use the (so called) panel! I created the account, and it was pending for another one and a half day, and they kept replying "Please wait a bit longer". 3- I decided to give up and move out of this scam. I asked the support team that I want to use the one month money back guarantee, they said it's OK for the VPS. But you can transfer your domain only after 60 days according to ICANN rules, however the person was so not-knowledged to know that this rule is not applied to the regional TLDs. 4- I have transferred out my domain anyway, and it showed up in the new registrar, but GreenGeeks panel still shows my domain as active :))))))) Conclusion: I am really pissed off! Although I was able to get back (80%) of the money that I spent, but I was waiting for 10 days because of their incapabilities. The service is really bad, don't waste your money and time here. You will just fall into the trap of sending messages back and forth with their incompetent support team, while your time is being wasted.
After two unsatisfactory responses from green geeks web hosting about their policy of not allowing customers our right to close our accounts with them without their consent, I have also been charged a few days ago for a domain I cancelled before I tried to close my account with them. After thoroughly checking my email (including spam, etc) there wasn’t even any email notification sent to me about an upcoming invoice due. I ask them to respond to this matter here because I find their conduct untrustworthy, so I won’t engage privately. If they mean what they say in their responses by asserting that they are trustworthy they need to demonstrate it. Regarding their former responses to my initial concern about not having control over my own engagement with them, in terms of cancelling products and closing my account, I’ve followed their procedures for doing those things and never got a response. I have two emails from their site that shows both of my requests to close my account… and I never got a response. My account has not been closed. I invite Green Geeks to resolve these matters here. Please note: the information Green Geeks requested of me last time was optional, so I won’t be engaging with anything other than this discussion. Their requests for identity confirmation and other information optional according to Trust Pilot.
GreenGeeks Support is always great. They address 95% of my issues on the first chat. Support is easy to contact and there is rarely a wait time beyond a few seconds.
I have been using GreenGeeks as the host for all my websites for many years. Besides the reliability and high performance host service, their support is exceptionally great as well. I've needed technical support quite a few times since I opened an account with Green Geeks. I manage three websites. I'm not strong on the back end of the websites particularly when it comes to such things as transferring domains and migrating websites. The tech support team has usually been very helpful, although at times they've assumed a greater degree of technical understanding than what I have. In those instances, I've had to ask alot of questions to get them to speak in plain English and leave out the technical jargon.
Renewal of my billing and domain was simple and automated. Was kept up to date on status and the cost was much less than my prior hosting company.

I was given a website to lookup my answer. I later sent and received an email that solved my problem.
It was 4 in the morning my time and 5 AM theirs when I got online at GreenGeeks with a billing issue. Not only was the man cheerful and polite, but he knew the solution to the problem almost before I finished explaining it. A few hours later, I got an email from customer support, confirming the solution I had been given that morning. From billing information to customer support, GreenGeeks is the best company I could hope to find. And Tech support doesn't laugh at me when I have an ID10t problem!
