May 17,2024I don't normally post negative reviews but this is frustrating. I've ordered some hedge plants and they sent me some dead sticks, all brown when I scratched the bark a bit, some with all buds open and all little leafs dried to a crisp. I've let them know right away, sent them a picture, they answered days later requesting proof of how I've been caring for them. Provided that, more closeup photos, details, told them there's nothing green under the bark so they've been dead for a while. Their answer was more or less "I'm sure they're fine, just need a bit of TLC" and they stated I need to pay for the return cost which is almost as much as I paid for the plants. Not a big loss for me, but I'm glad I didn't order more, as I found the service apalling. With other companies I didn't need to write email after email and a single photo was enough proof. I guess Hedges Direct needs the £10.00 in exchange for some dead sticks more than they need a reputation and am now sorry I didn't check the reviews before as more than 20% 1-star reviews would have stopped me from ordering. Lesson learned, never again, enjoy my free £10.00 for the most expensive brown matter for my compost I bought this year.

Apr 26,2024The quality of the laurel bushes we received was good but the delivery experience was awful. A very rude man from the delivery company dumped them on the street even though they were too heavy for us to lift and then left us with an enormous wooden pallet - very hard to get rid of in a London street and surely it should be taken away to be recycled. HD didn't respond to any complaint or apologise for appalling customer service.

Apr 19,2024Bought 17 off hedging bushes from them and all doing fine, we needed 5 more which looked in a poor condition on delivery, planted them straight away and 6 weeks later they have died. I have emailed them twice and messaged them on Facebook but they don't bother to reply. Poor aftermarket service. I will not buy from them again S.House They have now replied and replacement hedge on order. Thanks

Mar 26,2024Received 25 mixed hedgerow plants today - beautifully packed and came out of the tall box in the same way they went in I imagine : in perfect condition and nicely labelled! Very glad I’d previously prepared the land and even placed the canes as it was then quick work to plant straight away whilst ‘spitting’ (not me, the rain) and the newly planted row now being blessed with rain. Really looking forward to my spindle, bird cherry, crab apple and dog rose enhanced hedgerow (joining three lovely 6’ blackthorns bought 3 yrs ago as tiny slips). 😊

Mar 21,2024I have used Hedges Direct many times for various items in my garden but today's experience of the customer service team was disappointing. I wanted to know the root stock of a tree but I was repeatedly told that it was just a tree and it could be whatever size I want it to be. Every other competitor mentions the root stock or the ultimate height of the tree. It wasn't necessary for the shirty tone and then to try and sell me root grow. Please provide more training for your team.

Mar 21,2024I have chosen your company after reading positive reviews on TrustPilot but unfortunately I was not one of the lucky customers to receive good plants. They arrived yesterday morning and I unpacked them last night after getting home from work. I was already not happy how the bigger plants were just squashed into a box and the branches were ‘pushed down’ to be able to close the box. This morning on further inspection of the plants in the daylight I am extremely disappointed with the plants I received. Bigger ones have several branches broken off/snapped. One has a dying branch completely. From the big ones only one is fully intact. Paying extra for bigger plants that have branches broken was just pointless in this case. Smaller ones just look miserable. Looks like several branches were pruned and they just look dry. Some branches have no leafs on. Extremely regret buying online. Wish I had gone to the local garden centre. It probably would have cost me more but I would have been happier and picked healthy plants. UPDATE: 26/03/2024 After few days of emailing CS I received an email from HD and their customer service representative offered me suitable solution. So even plants I ordered were not satisfactory and suitable but I cant fault their customer service. Judi was really helpful. so instead of 2stars review im changing it to 3stars for their helpful response and friendly customer service.

Mar 20,2024We ordered 30 Yew bushes to try to create an instant hedge. Great communication and patience was shown with my numerous questions as well as excellent advice given. Accurate updates re the shipping details. What turned up was exactly as described and shown on the photos, very healthy bushes that were the height described. We are delighted with the result and will definitely use this company again.

Mar 18,2024Really impressed with the quality of hedging plants I received. All were a good height and in good healthy condition with roots still damp to touch. Also delivered them in good time to be planted towards the end of season.

Dec 18,2023First time of using this company so I placed initial order for a mix of Lonicera & Privet (bare root) to rejuvenate some hedging. Website easy to navigate and pricing very competitive. Kept informed of progress and courier (DPD) delivered 48hrs after placing order. Plants (Lonicera Nitida) were bushy with good root system and appeared healthy; privet were missing and not being sure if they had been missed or were coming separately I emailed helpdesk and got a reply within an hour and the issue was quickly resolved by Ella without fuss or drama. Based on my experience and quality of plants received i have no reservation in recommending the company and if weather stays mild I will be placing further order after Xmas.

May 21,2024Product: 4 stars Stocking: 1 star Customer care: 4 stars This initially would have been very close to a one star review were it not for the actions of Paige in customer care. I had placed an order for 14 Leylandii at 120-150cm in 5 Litre pots. A week later I hadn't heard anything only to be told (on my birthday) that there was a stocking issue and was advised to contact them. No solutions presented or an explanation, just to contact them. Having reached out via email, again by phone where I was told I would receive a call back (I didn't), on the third attempt I was put through to Paige who resolved the issue as best as she could. It turned out there were no 120-150cm 5Litre pot Leylandii available and there was no intention of restocking. I had to downgrade to the 60-90cm stock. Paige was very helpful and ensured the tallest ones were selected to make up for this. Unfortunately the stocking issues made for a very negative experience until this was resolved with a compromise. An was rather irritating to see the product still listed as available even whilst this was being resolved.
