Jan 22,2025Having been blindly renewing our Vitality health insurance each year with the same company, this year the renewal cost was just ridiculous despite having never claimed on our policy for 9 years. Never understand why insurance companies that you've been 'loyal' to as a customer just fleece you and also how the health insurance advisors we have always used and who claim to "compare all the leading policies" with "all the UK's leading insurers" and that they are there to "make huge savings for clients on premiums" just don't. Not once did they try to find us a better deal with any of the other health insurers they work with - and they work with all of them, including the insurers we ended up switching to (The Exeter). Instead, just an email a year telling us how much it would be to renew (with Vitality) and taking it for granted that we'd renew. Not this time thankfully, after Sara from Howden saved us by finding a better deal with The Exeter for HALF of what we were paying with Vitality. Sara knew her stuff, wasn't pushy at all and in the end found us the best deal going for what we needed. Highly recommend contacting them if you are looking to change health insurers. Also Sara offered some great advice from the start - if you already have insurance, don't start a brand new policy form scratch online through a search engine - speak to an agent and get them to continue your cover but with a different insurer. You'll get a much better deal. Hopefully this time next year Sara will be in touch again to let me know if we still have the best deal and if not, what can be done about it.
