Quality experiences – large and small – set John Hall’s Alaska apart. In operation since 1982, nobody covers more of Alaska or provides a more enriched small-group experience. As a small family-owned and operated tour company with a passion for Alaska, personal attention, exclusive remote access, immersive cultural encounters, and included meals and activities are hallmarks of the John Hall’s Alaska experience.

These guided tours travel to all five regions of Alaska – the Artic, Inside Passage, Interior, Southcentral, and Southwest – and with group sizes ranging from only 24 to 40 guests, John Hall’s Alaska provides a more intimate “real” Alaska experience. Wildlife encounters, native cultural experiences, behind-the-scenes access, outdoor activities, and the finest lodging in Alaska are highlights of every departure. Combined tour offerings feature six of Alaska’s eight national parks and optional trips to the other two can be added before or after any scheduled tour.

Depending on the itinerary, guests explore via a wide range of transportation modes such as luxury motorcoach, small aircraft, GoldStar first-class rail service, and small private charter vessels. To ensure the highest level of comfort, John Hall’s Alaska operates and maintains a custom-built fleet of spacious MCI motorcoaches that represent the best on the roads of Alaska. We have taken 8 John Hall Adventure Tours. Each tour has been an unique experience and exceeded our expectations each time. They take care of every detail while you relax and just enjoy the Experience. Alaska has turned out to be our favorite place in the whole world to travel and it because of John Hall Adventure Tours and Cruises. They have shown us Alaska in Summer and Winter, have introduced us to the native cultures and traditions, and made it possible to witness the Iditarod Dog Race. We look forward in the future to doing additional Tours of Alaska and Alumni Tours with the John Hall Group. Definitely a FIVE STAR Company.

Outstanding trip to Alaska back in 2013! John Hall's Alaska was superb in its planning, organizing, and coordination for our group of 19 people. This trip was one of the very best we have ever been on. Kudos to John and his wonderful staff!

Afew years ago I took your 3 week tour and I loved id The tour was great and gave us a great feeling for Alaska and the Yukon. I felt the planning that went into the tour was second to noneEven the bus ride and stay out to Danaley was top shelf. the only negative was some one on your bus came with a cold and manage to share with many of us on the buss. Though it did not hurt the overall trip I could have felt better on the Boat going back downIf I would do it again I might pass on the boat Though it was first class

It was perfect. We love cruising, but the best part of the trip is the land portion. The guide and staff were very helpful and exceeded expectations in every regard. The oldest member of our family group of 7 had some difficulty walking and sat in the front of the motor coach for ease of getting on and off, but our guide was careful to allow everyone an opportunity to sit in the front. He took pride in our motor coach and kept it spic and span and was considerate of other drivers. Every accommodation was best available. On the surface our trip seemed expensive, but considering, early booking discounts, extra cabins booked discounts and all meals from regular menus were included it was a bargain.

We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the Klondike tour: the itinerary, the guides who travelled with us and those that took us through the various location. Being on a small boat for the latter portion of the tour was the highlight. We had an unfortunate accident before a second Klondike tour. The staff was outstanding in ensuring that we received medical treatment, lodging and attention from the Tour Insurance Company. We don't hesitate to recommend John Hall to others. Our land-only tour was spectacular. We are not cruisers (I am), and this was perfect for the two of us. When Wendy, our host for two days, couldn’t drive the bus across a road due to flooding, she improvised and we had our picnic in a park close by. And then, to get us to the glacier, she called on helicopters to get us there. We made friends with another couple who live fairly close to us, and we remain friends.... It couldn’t have been any better...John Hall DOES IT RIGHT!

The Iditarod and Aurora tour allowed me to check off many items on my bucket list: Seeing all that goes into making a dog sled race, including the breeding and training and preparation. Seeing the aurora borealis. Crossing the Arctic Circle. Watching sunrise over Denali. The scenery was beautiful. The hotels and transportation were very comfortable. The background information on what we were seeing and doing was superb. I learned a lot.

Tour guide was disorganized and wasted time , making up excuses. He continuously bragged about himself with tall tales. (Land part) John Halls was the worst tour we have ever been on. Tour guide on ship was not knowledgeable. When asked where we could find internet in towns when docked, he had no idea. At the end of tour, the guide was giving the group procedures without any written instructions. Many older travelers were upset because they couldn’t remember all the info. Thank goodness , I had paper and pen and wrote down the info and shared with others.

My wife and I are relatively seasoned travelers; but Upper Alaska was one of our "Last Frontiers". We saw an ad in our local paper for a preview of Alaska travels. We signed up (thinking it would be a variety of presenters about trips to Alaska); when we attended, it was John Hall, Jr -- 'extolling' the value of choosing their company for this experience. He, obviously, 'whetted our appetite; we, obviously, chose to travel with John Hall's Alaska .. It was one of the best choices relative to group travel that we have ever experienced. Our guide was also our driver .. he excelled at both. The company employees were extremely cordial, happy, helpful and knowledgeable. And, wherever we had group experiences, it was apparent to us that the John Hall customers got 'extra special treatment.' One other point to mention/consider -- we hesitated before we made our choice on the cost -- believe me, with John Hall, the 'cost is the cost'. Other than souvenirs and (some) snacks, there wasn't this is extra, that is extra, - what a pleasure compared some of our other experiences. I'm not an employee; we're not being urged to write this - but, if your experience is at all like ours -- choose John Hall's Alaska.

We were very Happy from the start where John Halls people took us to the airport and made sure we Got on our flight. We were met at the airport in Anchorage Airport and were helped getting off the flight. The staff, Food and places we stayed were excellent. The train Trips and bus trips were excellent and the guides were down to earth and were easy to talk with as well as very informative. When we were ready to leave, provisions were made to get to and on the boat back to Victoria and took bus down to Seattle. Only thing that could of been better is the guide on the boat. He seemed to be busy with other things. We always had plenty of good food even on buses and trains. Would recommend John Hall`s to others. We also met many people from other states on this trip.

John Hall's Alaska "Grand Slam Tour" From the time you get into Anchorage until the time we got back to Seattle, I am saying everything to a "T" was taken care of first class. We got to see a month's worth of activity in 1/2 the time. No worries about luggage, lodging, food, meals, water, snacks, trains, boats, and bus. I would take the same trip over again in a heartbeat. They have the most caring staff. Already saving to take another trip with them anyplace. My highlight was taking a Polar Plunge at Wonder Lake in Denali National Park on a picture-perfect day with a bull moose in the water across from us.

Our tour with John Hall's Alaska was handled with well organized, friendly efficiency. All the daunting parts of traveling disappeared (handled expertly by John Hall's) and what remained was a fantastic and fun adventure with new friends! Our iditarod experiences were well planned to give us the feeling of being part of the iconic Alaska event, up close and personal. We were excited to meet and talk to mushers! Borealis Base Camp was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and the aurora gave us a thrilling, unforgettable night. Have to mention the bus. Comfortable for even the very tall! John Hall's lets you feel like you are part of the family. We would go again!

We traveled with John Hall’s Alaska in 2015 to Alaska and again in 2018 to Australia. Both trips were over the moon, great! No detail is missed and they even go the extra mile for their guests. I would not hesitate to take additional trips to new locations because I know they will do everything right and give us the best experience we could have. I trust them to handle all the details, select the best hotels, meals and activities and keep us safe at all times.
