Quality experiences – large and small – set John Hall’s Alaska apart. In operation since 1982, nobody covers more of Alaska or provides a more enriched small-group experience. As a small family-owned and operated tour company with a passion for Alaska, personal attention, exclusive remote access, immersive cultural encounters, and included meals and activities are hallmarks of the John Hall’s Alaska experience.
These guided tours travel to all five regions of Alaska – the Artic, Inside Passage, Interior, Southcentral, and Southwest – and with group sizes ranging from only 24 to 40 guests, John Hall’s Alaska provides a more intimate “real” Alaska experience. Wildlife encounters, native cultural experiences, behind-the-scenes access, outdoor activities, and the finest lodging in Alaska are highlights of every departure. Combined tour offerings feature six of Alaska’s eight national parks and optional trips to the other two can be added before or after any scheduled tour.
Depending on the itinerary, guests explore via a wide range of transportation modes such as luxury motorcoach, small aircraft, GoldStar first-class rail service, and small private charter vessels. To ensure the highest level of comfort, John Hall’s Alaska operates and maintains a custom-built fleet of spacious MCI motorcoaches that represent the best on the roads of Alaska. The staff thinks of everything and will do anything to ensure you have a great trip. When we were there for an Aurora Borealis trip, they had us go on an unscheduled night excursion for a chance to see the aurora borealis. Good thing we did, because the places where we should have seen it their were clouds. We were also suppose to fly to Denali and make a glacier landing, but again weather was not cooperative. They tried time and time again to schedule a flight, but to no avail. Finally hours before we were to leave Alaska, they had us on a small plane flying over beautiful peaks and glaciers. It was amazing. Even if the weather didn't cooperate, the folks at John Hall's Alaska jumped over hoops, worked their magic and came up with alternatives which made the trip wonderful!
John was our driver/guide. He was a person of great knowledge of the area and did a great job of sharing stories. He made sure our accommodations met our expectations and when it was time for our departure, he made sure the transfer went very smoothly. The dinner theaters were wonderful. All was good.
Outstanding tours, attractions, food, accommodations, and service..If you have traveled with other companies, you will be wowed when you travel with John Hall. The only drawback is the weight you will gain from all the great included meals.
very surely a class act. Yes, your vacations are a bit more expensive but I was beyond pleased how you handled the glitch when we could not take our ship portion..... as the ship broke down. You refunded our cash and gave us another ship cruise the following year, The owner of the company flew in from Minn. to square everything with us. Class act!
We had a wonderful trip and cruise. I don't know how it could have been better unless someone has the power to control the weather.
We traveled to Alaska in 2016 and the trip was fantastic and John Halls Alaska was also fantastic for all our needs.
We were looking for a tour company for a trip to Alaska where everything was taken care of. We have never been more happy with our choice. We have been on 3 Alaska trips and about to be 3 alumni trips with this fabulous family business. They are honest and trustworthy and have never disappointed. Any bumps in the road have always been dealt with to our satisfaction. We love the worry free beautiful trips. We have had some of the most fantastic experiences. Our biggest complaint is all the delicious food we have available to us, and it just seems we can't refuse!
My wife and I were on the National Parks Tour. Everything was first class and the experience was exceptional. I could have been happier about our experience. Nothing was taken for granted and the tour guides were the best. I give this trip my highest recommendation. John Halls Alaska is the best.
It's been a few years since our last John Hall Alaska trip (the Pandemic and all have curbed our travelling for a while), but we have nothing but good to say about our John Hall experience. Our on-site tour host in Alaska was nothing short of outstanding ... extremely knowledgeable, very well organized, very professional and personable. Every detail was well-arranged in advance. The pace was great. Our driver/tour guide in Alaska meticulously cleaned our coach every night and as far as we could tell, washed the coach every evening plus stocked coolers with water, etc. We wondered if he ever slept. There were ten of us in our informal group who signed up together, but through their process of rotating assigned bus seating each day plus with other tour events we quickly got to know everyone else on the tour. We suspect it would have been as good a trip with or without our informal "group" having signed up together. The Alaskan cruise down the coast at the last part of our travels made for a perfect and fun ending to the adventure. We would most definitely recommend John Hall's Alaska tours to anyone. They are without a doubt a first class tour company!
Our John Hall Tour of Alaska National Parks was fabulous, a trip of a life time. We regularly recommend John Hall to our friends
The staff of John Hall's went above and beyond what we thought we were going to get with our 15 day trip to Alaska (Grand Slam of Alaska). The accommodations were A1 and the small group setting was the best. Got to know the people in our group and made a few friends along the way. Looking forward to another journey with John Hall's.
I had the best trip of my life. John Hall was super accommodating, made sure all of our needs were met and went above and beyond their call of duty on our last day of the trip. Even though we stayed an extra day, our tour manager made sure we all got to where we needed to be. Both land and ocean cruise managers were also very knowledgeable.
We had a very good experience. The group was small and everyone seemed to enjoy each other's company. The lodgings were excellent and the guides did a tremendous job. We would highly recommend John Hall's tours.
JOHN HALLS IS THE BEST VACATION WE EVER HAD,WE HAVE TOLD ANYONE INTERESTED TO BOOK WITH YOU. AGAIN A GREAT EXPERENCE. THANKS! RICH &SHIRLEY M.
JHA customer service is the best. I can talk or email with a live person and they get back to me quickly.
We went on our Alaskan Adventure with John Hall’s Alaska back in 2012. We still, all these years later, talk about how fantastic that trip truly was! From our wonderfully efficient tour manager, Caryn McElroy, to each and every stop, to all our delicious meals, to the incredibly organized itinerary, to the spectacular sites we saw along the way ~ we are so grateful we chose John Hall’s Alaska and the proficient staff who planned out this adventure. This was the very best way to visit and learn about Alaska and Canada.
We loved every part of the tour. The only disappointment was the supper buffet we had in Fairbanks. We loved our tour guide, John, who went out of his way to accommodate us in every way. Nothing but good things to say about our experience. We had an add on Excursion to Katmi that was wonderful too.
John Halls Alaska is a first class Tour company that leaves nothing to be wanted while traveling with their group.. Outstanding services!!
Sit back and relax with a fresh cup of coffee you've made on the bus and take in an incredible view. Days of wonderful sites, stops to take in the grandure, terrific meals and great company. That is what we found on the bus trip from Seattle to the cruise port. We couldn't have asked for more attentive staff or a better planned vacation.
