The check in wasn't serious. When we arrived at our first step of our trip, we didn't have all the comforter for the night. We have to claim before departure the portable heater. At the check out the check up of the van was much serious than the check in. The tanks weren't empty but the gas bottle was.
One on the cheapest solution to get a van and the van had no mechanical issue so this is the good point another good point was the hotline support, effective when we need it very disappointed about the cleanliness inside. It was very dirty especially the carpet on the walls and the roof. The light inside the the bathroom did not work after 2 days so we were in the dark for the shower.
Wir hatten das Premium Paket abgeschlossen, doch erhielten keine volle Gasflasche und kein Navigationssystem, wie angekündigt. Stattdessen war die Systemsprsche des Autos auf japanisch und man konnte nicht mal Radio hören. Abgesehen davon waren wir sehr zufrieden, das Auto hat beim Fahren keine Probleme gemacht und uns sicher von Auckland nach Christchurch gebracht.
Overall very good but the vehicle hadn’t been cleaned well prior to us collecting. Grey water tank not emptied, curtain missing, shower floor dirty, suspected gas leak from LPG bottle.but in saying that we would recommend to others
Bed bugs, leaking doors and leaking waste water - Disgusting. Avoid Lucky rentals at any circumstances.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Renting and returning the camper was quick and easy with valuable informations. However, the camper had it's issues with a list of complains, including a trip to the mechanics that cost us a detour and half a day without a vehicle. But overall we had an amazing time cruising through NZ with a freedom campervan.

No problems whatsoever, just as described. Can’t expect any crazy technology from a vehicle from 2001. Recommend to bring a Bluetooth connector that has charging ports.
The reservation of the camper worked perfectly, all services booked were fully comlied with. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The campervan worked perfectly and the condition was very good despite some sings of wear. Thank you Lucky Rentals thanks to you we were able to enjoy a wonderful and unforgettable time in New Zealand!
Good car sleeping setup
Overall good except for the handle(switcher) of the gray water tank, it can't be closed lead to our gray water leaks everywhere. In order to avoid affecting the environment and violating laws, we stopped using the water in the camper, which resulted in the inability to cook and a lot of inconvenience.
Cheapest rental van we could find in NZ, but our van leaked on us and the GPS system didn't work at all but we still payed for it. I guess you get what you pay for, probably would recommended spending a little more with a different company to get better service.
Everything is bad!
Bij het ophalen van de auto werden we niet echt vriendelijk te woord gestaan. Leek wel of het allemaal heel snel moest en daardoor de papieren getekend en bij het starten zagen we dat de tank bijna leeg was. Vroeg nog klopt dit wel, jahoor geen probleem, zo mag je hem in Christchurch ook weer afleveren. Nou niet dus. En op het getekende formulier (waar wij alleen de foto van hadden stond volle tank aangekruisd bij ophalen, maar als je eerst tekend en dan pas de tank afleest en daar niet door alle hectiek meer aandenkt heb je toch een probleem.)Uiteindelijk kregen wel duidelijk hoe het zat en mochten we weg, maar er was wel flink stress aan mijn kant. In Chch waren ze een stuk vriendelijker , zijn we ook tijdens onze trip op het eind nog met een kapotte richting aanwijzer langs geweest en die hadden ze redelijk vlot gerepareerd, onderweg 1 x met lege accu gestaan en ook dat werd , op zondag! , snel opgelost. ( wel extra verzekering voor alles.)( en dit doet de alarmcentrale dus heeft niks met lucky rentals van doen) De auto reed goed heeft dik 5500 km gemaakt zonder verdere problemen, alleen de koelbox deed het af en toe niet. Ook was het niet de auto die we hadden besteld, dit was echt een oude bak( bijna 500000 km) met veel schade aan de buitenkant en van binnen ook wel oud (geen interieur van 20016! (zoals op de foto van de boeking),en schoon heeft toch ook wel andere begrippen, maar uiteindelijk met een extra matras om te slapen wel te doen. ( we zijn niet heel veeleisend en vooral belangrijk vonden wij dat de motor het goed deed en hij ons door beide eilanden goed heeft gereden). Dus conclusie, in Auckland moeten ze nog heel wat leren , want als je bij ophalen zo wordt afgescheept kost het je toch wel klanten! Wij kiezen toch volgende keer voor wat meer klantvriendelijkheid en betrouwbaarheid bij het ophalen.
We travelled in the van for 9 days around New Zealand. The van was really great for what we needed. By the end of the trip, we had figured out all the tips and tricks to deal with the van. Some of the blinds were starting to fall apart but it just needs a little bit of maintenance. Would recommended again. To travel around New Zealand again, I would suggest to go with a Self-contain van that has the blue sticker at the back to have access to the free campings/parking spots.
The campervan was exactly what my family need it. The costumer service was excellent. The van works pretty well.
The sleeper van started every morning without fail, was easy to drive and suited our purposes. It turned out, however, to be 2004 vehicle with around 445 500 miles on it when we started out. It looked like a repainted Juicy van. Since the vehicle is the main product of a rental company we think it is time to sell it to a local mechanically inclined person who is fully aware of its history. It might serve them well for a time longer It is a bit risky to rent it to somebody flying in from a different country with limited vacation time. We ran into a few issues: the " kitchen" did not even look wiped down when we received the van. We missed a lid for the pot or the pan (just one lid, please!). Also a cutting board and a functioning peeler. The radio was non- functional ( no problem for us), but the cigarette lighter got loose a lot and we had issues being able to recharge our phone which was needed for navigation and communication. We had issues with the back sliding doors. At one point during our 25 days we could not open the passenger backdoor from the outside. A few days later it worked again?? On day 18 the driver's side back sliding door opened about 1/2 to one inch while driving and got stuck in this position: could not be opened or closed. We called Lucky Rentals help number and a local mechanic came promptly to the campground, but could not fix the problem on site. We brought the van into his shop the next morning where he fixed the problem with the door and discovered a few other issues that he felt needed fixing ( we were loosing oil...). He notified the rental company and they agreed with the repairs. We were given a car to use for the day and thus were stuck just for one day . The loaner was also a Toyota and we found that that car had no problem clearing the windshield from fogging up when it got cooler or rainy outside. Whereas our sleeper van had given us considerable problems when it got cool and rainy by FranzJoseph Glacier. The only way we could clear the window was by turning on the AC. ..we were freezing, but at least we could see while driving. See what we mean,: put it out to pasture. He might make somebody happy, yet. It even grew on us. Warts and all "
At the end, everything was ok. 4 stars because the car had some problems (such as the phone recharge broken).
The vehicule provided was very old. We had problems with the engine half way through the trip. The cooking stove was very old and nearly took fire- we had to replace it. Doors of back cupboard were rusty and very hard to close and open as well as sliding doors.

Apr 22,2024We were issued a wrong vehicle, but were too jet legged and tired to realise. We wrote them an email in morning and they accepted this and offered us an upgrade as a replacement. They were super nice in handling everything.
